Very helpful video. Great job. Thanks.
Thanks for watching Aris, I'm glad you found it helpful.
I have to replace it on my fiat bravo 1.4T, I live in Argentina and here the replacement is very expensive. It costs around 230 usd. The piece comes with hydraulic fluid, when it breaks you lose it. I plan to fill it with silicone to "simulate" that liquid
Sounds like a good idea Emmanuel and yes, the part was expensive here in the UK too. As an aside I visited Argentina in 2004 and recall being driven around Bariloche in a Fiat Siena by my language teacher!
Great video! Can you let me know exactly where you've put the jack for the sump? I don't have one of those rubber mounts, I assume a large piece of wood would work as well?
The sump is fined if I recall correctly and I jacked it on that point. I would imagine that a large piece of wood should definitely be fine in that same position. Good luck with the job.
Another great video - thanks James. Did you notice any difference during your test drive?
Cheers Mark and yes a noticeable improvement when coming on and off the power. Before the gearstick would move a lot, but that is almost completely eliminated now.
Where did you situate the jack on the sump? I am guessing the right side of it is going to be stronger rather than the middle? Planning to do this same operation soon.
Hi Sturbok, I positioned the jack on the left hand side, almost directly under the engine mount. The sump is fined/ridged at that point and I used a piece of wood to spread the load. Mine's a 150hp but I assume the sump is the same for all engines. Good luck with the job - it's one I really enjoyed.
@@MostlyHelpful thanks for the reply. Did mine a week ago, i had a 150HP Bravo before and now a 120HP Giulietta, the sump was the same. Used a block of wood too and placed it on the left side. Barely notice the aircon compressor kicking on now and the cabin is much quieter, less resonance from the engine when driving. Thanks for the video and including the torque specs. I used a Febi Bilstein mount, and it looked identical to the OEM mount i took out. All that was different was the FCA type marking had been filed off! Never seen that in a component but i bet it's the exact same OEM mount with just the markings removed.
It was very helpful, thank you so much 😊
Hi Bob, really glad to hear that and thanks for taking the time to comment. It was certainly one of the nicest jobs I've done on a car in all my years of tinkering.
Ty my friends gf just had this fail and engine dropped onto chassis leg 😬 after an MOT and £550 worth of work. Do u know if these are checked with MOT? As I can't see why they wouldn't🤦🏾♂️ I had a mk 5 fiesta and they even got me for surface rust on the arch lol 🤷🏾♂️ gonna be a long expensive job now tho 🤯
I'm no MOT tester but unless an engine mount had failed already, there's no way of telling if it's about to fail, unless it's leaking. Still, as my video shows it's a really easy fix and most of the cost is in the part.
Thanks!
No problem, glad it was helpful.
I heard the opinion that the screws should be tightened on the engine lowered from the jack. I don't know is that right.
That doesn't make sense for the fittings between engine and the mount itself (because you couldn't tighten them with the engine lowered from the jack), but between the body and the mount that could work for sure. There was nothing in the service manual about it though, so I went with the easiest approach. Thanks for watching the video too.
Great vid, very handy for me soon. I'm on 250k km now.
Hi, thanks for watching the video and taking time to comment. Good luck for when you come to replace it.
Where to buy genuine engine Mount
I got mine at my local Fiat dealer. In the UK it's the only place to buy a genuine one.
@@MostlyHelpful thanks :)
