Armlock putters are extremely expensive right now. I did this and it has worked amazing! I had a 36" Odyssey O-works Tank 7 putter lying around. I took it to Golf Galaxy and had them put on a 5" extension, the Jumbo Max putter Bryson uses in the red, white and blue, and then changed the loft and lie to match the new arm locks coming out. I feel like I have so much more control of every aspect of my putting stroke now, compared to my Odyssey Sabertooth I had before, or just about any other putter I tested while looking. I haven't gotten it out enough to see exactly what difference it'll make, but I would bet it'll save 2-3 per round once I get it dialed in.

Think he explained that poorly. It's the angle of the shaft to the head. It can't be a perfect 90 degrees. But if you want to put your 70 degree lie angle putter perpendicular to the ground, you can. It just means the heel of your putter will be higher off the ground than the toe. So... your stroke can be straight back and through, but the putter can't be built to match the 90° angle.

An interesting video and ensuing concept for sure Mr. Finch. Personally, I agree with you on the anchoring ban. Now, I have yet to do the research myself to see if there ever really was a strong correlation between anchored putting and improved performance, so this is mostly based on my own impressions. Certainly on the PGA Tour though, the most prominent users of long, anchored putters prior to the ban weren't exactly known for the putting prowess. There have obviously been some pretty good players who used the anchoring style, but, even in the case of those who putted well while anchoring, it was not the core aspect of their game which made them such a good player in the first place. Armlock is anchoring without any doubt. It gives you three points of contact. Three points of contact makes for more stability. That is why the construction trades call for always having three points of contact for proper ladder safety. When you put with the hands only you have two points of contact.

A good distance control game is to use 3 balls and put a tee about 2 foot short of the fringe and then go back to the distance you want to practice and see how many of the 3 you can get past the tee but not touch the fringe
I had a Nike mallet belly putter a few years back.. loved that putter. my buddies hated it so when the anchor rule went into effect, they wouldn't let me use it.. i got new buddies now
I use the Kotahi ( undersized) grip Axis putter with the elbows not bent and arms hanging when putting but grip not locked to arm. It works for me. Making a lot more 15 to 20 ft putts and therefore more birdies 😉. No, I don’t think it should be banned because it is moving with arms and not anchored.
I think Bryson calibrates his distance control by using a yard stick. Example drawing the putter back 8 inches then hitting the ball 8 feet. I use this drill for my high school teams, especially beginner's.
I've recently bought an armlock putter, a 41" Odessey 2-ball white hot to be precise. However, I don't use it in the armlock style. As I'm 6'3 with quite a major back problem, I actually use this with a standard putting stroke but much more upright. Before this putter, putting was definitely the weakest part of my game as I had a touch like a rampaging bull elephant. Now, putting is one of the strongest parts of my game with the biggest improvement being distance control. As far as them being banned, I'm with you in the sense that golf is hard enough so no, I don't think they should be
Anchoring a putter against your forearm is allowed by the PGA Tour because it’s considered a part of the golfer’s “natural” grip rather than an artificial anchor point that stabilizes the club against the body. When the rules changed in 2016 to prohibit anchoring, the USGA and R&A specified that anchoring meant intentionally creating a fixed point between the putter and a player’s torso, like pressing the putter against the chest or belly. This was seen as providing an unnatural advantage, as it restricts the movement of the putter’s shaft, making it more stable. Anchoring the putter against the forearm, as in Bryson DeChambeau’s style, is different because the forearm is naturally part of the golfer’s putting stroke, rather than a fixed point on the body like the chest or abdomen. While forearm bracing effectively reduces wrist action, it still requires the player to maintain control with their arms, without using a fixed anchor point against the torso to stabilize the stroke. This distinction is what keeps it within the rules, even though, functionally, it’s very close to the stability an anchored belly or chest putter provides. The PGA Tour and USGA essentially drew a line between “natural” and “artificial” stability-letting the forearm become part of the grip but not allowing contact with the chest or abdomen.
It doesn't anchor to a point, (a pivot point that can't move.) It lies along the forearm, therefor any movement the forearm makes is translated down the shaft to the head. I'm gonna switch to side putting with a 50" putter called the GP Pro putter from RP Dionne. It's legal also and you should review his clubs. They're tricking awesome. " No they really are."
No, i think the reason why belly, chest and chin anchored puttering was banned is because it allows a pure pendulum stroke utilising the full length of the putter. With armlock, the arm becomes part of the pendulum which introduces more of the human element in the stroke. Having said that, I use armlock as i feel that it is more consistent.
Just had thought, if this club is banned, will the left over right putting grip also be banned, as this is the main intention of that grip and turns most putters into a version of the SIK putter. Thoughts?

A good distance control game is to use 3 balls and put a tee about 2 foot short of the fringe and then go back to the distance you want to practice and see how many of the 3 you can get past the tee but not touch the fringe
Best of luck with the arm lock. I still think you should've stayed with Megamind! I think they make an arm lock version you might like!
I had a Nike mallet belly putter a few years back.. loved that putter. my buddies hated it so when the anchor rule went into effect, they wouldn't let me use it.. i got new buddies now
Pete is like a bower bird with putters 😂 put it in the bag mate 👍🏾
I use the Kotahi ( undersized) grip Axis putter with the elbows not bent and arms hanging when putting but grip not locked to arm. It works for me. Making a lot more 15 to 20 ft putts and therefore more birdies 😉.
No, I don’t think it should be banned because it is moving with arms and not anchored.
Top man you are👌 I have played golf for 60yrs and the only golfer who out talk you was Donald Stirling, he’s a ‘Lanc’ too 😂

Easy when you pin the comment 🤣 cheatah!
😅😅
I would so love to try an arm lock style putter since my putting is costing me at least 6-7 strokes a round!!
I think Bryson calibrates his distance control by using a yard stick. Example drawing the putter back 8 inches then hitting the ball 8 feet. I use this drill for my high school teams, especially beginner's.
Like button.. Walloped!! 👍🏼
Why wouldnt you try your claw grip with it?
I've recently bought an armlock putter, a 41" Odessey 2-ball white hot to be precise. However, I don't use it in the armlock style. As I'm 6'3 with quite a major back problem, I actually use this with a standard putting stroke but much more upright. Before this putter, putting was definitely the weakest part of my game as I had a touch like a rampaging bull elephant. Now, putting is one of the strongest parts of my game with the biggest improvement being distance control. As far as them being banned, I'm with you in the sense that golf is hard enough so no, I don't think they should be
What in the world is going on at 15:08 😂😂😂
Thanks Pete your the goat
Very informative, thank you :)
A touch of the "betty swollocks" going on Pete?
Just had thought, if this club is banned, will the left over right putting grip also be banned, as this is the main intention of that grip and turns most putters into a version of the SIK putter. Thoughts?
Keep the shaft change it to your favourite head or the last head you used for a better comparison, maybe.
Does the putter give you an urge to whine about it not being as forgiving as it should be on your misses?
Only when I swing it 130mph
Not that u can ever reach 135mph club head speed on the course but if u did I guarantee u couldn’t hit it as straight as Bryson
@@trent_assmussen ? That's a joke, right?
@@trent_assmussen now, now...don't try to embarrass him with the fact that Bryson is currently #6 WGR www.owgr.com/ranking
and he's....Peter Finch.
After all, that means something: he has no ethics and is glad to just get the attention
@@touristguy87 I was talking to the guy who commented first not Peter. I love Peter
I 'wollllllopped' the like button and smashed my ipad pro😬
Going for a putting lesson at Andy Paisley's this week. Definitely going to try armlock if I can. Don't like the price though 😱
There are lots of others that are more affordable!
Bought an arm lock putter 1 month ago. Had it custom built (length and grip) with #7 style head. All for under US $100 (one hundred). Practicing with it indoors now during Winter. Come Spring we'll see if this new arrow can help the Indian play better or if the Indian's lack of skill minimizes the arrow's benefits.
Mate you need to improve the lighting in your videos when filming outdoors, other than this loving everything about your videos the last few weeks!!!
I currently putt with an Odyssey O-Works 1W with a claw grip and I’m a decent putter of the ball. But I am desperate to try an armlock putter. I don’t think they should be banned, as you said Pete “the game is hard enough”. So I will certainly be looking at getting one just have to wait 20 years for companies realise us lefties like to play golf as well!!!
You can get a LH SIK Armlock.
@@Jmattrhodes 👍🏻 problem is the price tag 😱
I use a standard SIK Pro with a steel shaft that was the same price as a standard Scotty, around $400. I think the LAGP shaft is about half of that $1000 quoted in the video. Steel shaft SIK putters don't cost nearly a thousand dollars. The SIK came built in the specs I gave them and the face had a much better than roll than anything else.
