I'm almost 6' 5" and have pretty big hands, these grips pretty much saved my game.
A friend of mine tried my clubs and he said it was like holding baseball bats.
Yes, they do take some getting used to, but once you get used to them, you'll never go back.
With the small grips, I used to have issues with the club turning a tad bit in my hands. Never knew exactly where the club face was, with the big grips, I know exactly where the club face is.

Trying out the Jumbo Max STR8's this week. I bought two of the Jumbo Max grips and hits balls with the 8 and 9 iron and tried it on a driver. It is such a secure fit that you can relieve the stress in forearm which helps with their movement. The grips have helped my son and for sure, they feel strange until you get used to them. Then go back to your originals you can also feel the difference in the amount of pressure you use to actually hold the club.

  • @paulpickering9090
    @paulpickering9090 3 роки тому +3

I've been using the Jumbo Max grips for six months now on all my clubs and I love them. I feel it reduces unwanted wrist movement which for me has lead to more consistency. I grip them with a conventional grip and don't feel I have to bow and hold off like you were doing. My advice would be to give them a try and don't be too hasty to disregard them. Persist a bit and I'm sure a lot of people will like them.

A couple years ago I dislocated a finger on my right hand and have been dealing with occasional pains especially when I thin a shot. I switched to the Jumbomax and don't have much data, but haven't had any aches or pains using those grips and I like the way they feel. I had a normal grip on my 3 utility iron trying it out and I did feel the pain a couple times on thin shots so I'm pretty sure that the bigger grips do help and could help people relieve some issues if they have aches or pains in their hands.

I’m 67 years old and only started playing golf about 6 months ago. I started with a very cheep set of regular clubs to see if I liked playing golf. I did enjoy playing, but was terrible at it. I couldn’t break 100 to save my life. Then I learned about the single plane swing, one length irons, and JumboMax grips. I did my research and pulled the trigger and bought Cobra one length Speedzone irons equipped with JumboMax xtra small grips. I practiced the single plane swing with single length clubs. I only had to learn one swing for all my irons. I bought Ping G425 SFT driver, and two fairway woods. I now shoot in the low to mid eighties. In only four months. And I’m old!
I credit some of my success to the fact that I just started playing golf and didn’t have years of traditional golf institution. I didn’t have to break old habits.
I highly recommend this approach to golf for anyone just starting to learn the game. Young especially, but old as well.
I think it’s the future of golf.

They are just slightly bigger than the standard oversize grip (which the guys at Jumbomax refer to as XS) and I'm so much more relaxed in my hands. I found them to wear out too quickly on the driver and are slick and hard to control on the irons when its damp!

I just put a set of Golf Pride CP2 Jumbo grips on my irons.
I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how much it helped me hold onto the club. I do need to work on how I grip my left hand, but initial results were better contact, straighter ball flights, and more feeling in the heads, as I moved swing weight up the club by a lot with the new grips. I can now really feel when I tow it, heel it, thin it, etc.
The one problem I have currently is hitting the ball thin, but I did have the clubs shortened a half inch to fix my dynamic lie. Having only hit a hundred balls or so, I still have to get used to the new grips, but it looks promising.

I am using the same grips for more than a year, did not change my grip form or style, if any a little on the strongest side, it helps with stopping me to squeeze tight and sometimes re-griping on the backswing, it helps a lot if you have long fingers like myselft as I mentioned before for better results do not change your grip form or style. Actually help me a lot with confidence hitting my driver, been in the back of my SUV, and only come out at the range. I do grip very strongly with my driver and bend my wrist like DJ to better control and hit my natural power fade. These grips are not for everybody. if you remove the grips, send them to me, i will put them to good use, next time I re-grip my clubs.

You did a terrible injustice to the grip. You should have swing normal instead of trying to replicate brysons swing mechanics. Terrible shame as you did not help neither the grip maker nor the viewer in my opinion! Sadly you even used one length clubs which you are not used to. I must say that I don’t believe it was your intention to be biased.

I started golfing after nearly 20 years of going without. When I did, I bought a set of used clubs that had very new jumbo grips on them so I left them alone. In as much as I essentially started as a complete novice all over again, I enjoy them. A career of hard labor has left me with a lot of nagging arthritis issues, etc. The larger grips help me feel like I'm controlling the club face; probably more than is due.
I won't be trying the SUPER jumbo but, for me, the bigger grip gives me confidence that I can do something that I patently cannot.

I use the Golf Pride’s Midsize plus. I’ve considered going to a fatter grip because I have big mitts. When I grab a club on the shelf with regular grip, it feels like the size of a pencil in my hand. Great video.

Thanks Pete, interesting . Lockdown new skill for me was re-gripping my clubs . Picked Golf Pride MCC Plus4 Align. You need the grips, solvent, tape, shaft clamp, vice (i used my workmate) and hooked stanley knife blade. Take it steady and it's about 10 mins per grip. Very satisfying...roll on the 29th March..

I use to have the small JM (Jumbomax) grips on my driver and 3w and really liked the feel but donated that set. But I have been using the Winn Excel mid grip currently because when I went to purchase the same JM grip for my current driver and 3w, they have been out of stock. So I tried the large, just for an experiment. The large did not work for me on the driver, but then just for giggles, I took it off of the driver and put it on an older 56 degree wedge. Game Changer! So now I put large JM grips on 2 of my irons and a 52 degree and WoW the feel is amazing!

I have GP std-size Tour Velvet but am in the process of changing over to GP New Decade MCC Plus 4 mid-size. It's too early to tell if the grips are having any impact on my scores, but the feel is good and I find the mid-size allows me to hold the club with less grip pressure (I wear a L-size glove) so my hands are less tired by the end of a round or practice session. The Plus 4 reduced taper allows me to maintain 'soft hands' when gripping down on any club but especially around the greens. They are heavier than a std grip so they do produce a slight counter-balance effect that changes the swing weight ever so slightly. In my case, I'm enjoying the change.

Have been using single plane swing for about 20 years now, saw it in a golf magazine somewhere, just made sense to me because it gets club face back to ball perfectly most times. Am a twice a year golfer these days, but I can assure you this method still works brilliantly for me, can consistently smash tee shot well over 270 metres with very little warm up on driving range. Love the idea of the soft jumbo grips, very keen to give that a whirl as also get sore hands.

For the past few years, I've been using Winn Excel Oversize grips - they are big but not this big. I find that the larger size enables me to reduce grip pressure and club manipulation during the swing. Recently bought a set of same-length clubs as an experiment and I'll be putting these on to complete the experiment. I agree with you that there's something to it - it's not a gimmick.

Hi, I've been using zero taper grips for a few years. I have now changed to jumbo max grips but I use the extra small size and my golf glove size is large. The xs size has minimal taper and stops over rotation of the wrist on the follow through. If you do change to Jumbo max ultra lite grips you will have to swing weight all of your clubs to allow for the lighter grip weight

As someone who has larger hands I have used midsize/oversized grips for a while until last year. I became intrigued by Bryson’s grips. Once I saw there trial program and return policy and how you choose the right size for you I gave them a go. I don’t think I could go back to oversize grips ever again. These work wonders for me. I use a conventional grip too. It takes a little time and effort to get use to playing open face shots but once you do you can hit all shots. I think people who want to give them a try to come in with an open mind and do your research on there website to figure out the right size grip to try. I also think these grips are great for people with larger hands. If you don’t know how to compress your irons and get that forward shaft lean at impact you might have an issue with having too much loft at impact

I've been using extra large or jumbo grips for about 20 years now I use the winn dry tacs. I've been thinking of going to Brysons size..Don't knock it till you try one..super comfortable in the hands, makes it harder to flip the club head over at impact.

I use them with great success using the "Baseball" or "Five Finger" grip. Taking a traditional grip with these feels odd...grab it like a baseball bat and you'll smile for days. Keep in mind the great difference in weight between the traditional and the lightweight versions. Makes a huge difference in swing weight. Drop one of these on your pitching or sand wedge and you'll wonder why you haven't done it before now.

I have a mild case of arachnodactyly. These grips have helped me tremendously. I played D1 for a top 20 golf team and I wish I had them when I was on the team instead of jumbo with extra tape. I can now use a proper grip where my hand face each other properly. My fingers are so long that the ring finger on my left hand still touches the pad of my thumb even with the big grips. But, the pinky doesn’t quite touch and most importantly they don’t dig into my palm anymore. I have a lot of lag in my wrists when I swing (I use the float loading method) and found these grips don’t hinder that in the least. 10/10 for someone like me.

Not sure if someone mentioned this already, but Brysons clubs are more upright than normal and this ties into the steeper plane and gripping the club more in the palm. Loving the content 👍👍👍

I ended up trying a jumbo grip inadvertently when I needed a 5-iron for a handed down set that didn't have one (lost I guess.). Not as jumbo as these, but still bigger than most others. It was an Avon Chamois (in brown, though that doesn't matter.) and I could not get used to it for the life of me. It felt like my fingers were so far apart that the club would slip out of my hands. So it in turn had the opposite effect on me of making me grip tighter rather than looser. Needless to say I had it regripped.

because of arthritis I build out my grips to about the same non-tapered thickness (but with some lead too to speed my down swing). It is nice to take the left out of (most of) the equation, and people who try them love them. They are a more controllable interface to and with the club face and shaft.

I currently run Gold Pride MMC plus four midsize with two wraps on my wedges and irons. I use the same grips in jumbo on my woods with one wrap. I was using JumboMax tour wraps in large on my driver and 3 wood but I found that there was too much difference when I use those then move to my irons. I found it better to keep the same general feel between my grips. I agree though, grips are the most important piece equipment you can use in your set.

I bought the max grip and added 50 yards to my drive. I must say that I use jumbo grips to begin with and naturally gravitated toward his grip without knowing it's a thing. My fingers are too long to use the diagonal across the palm. The Jumbo Max grip is comfortable for me. For others they do make three sizes all increasingly larger than a standard jumbo.

Hi Pete, I actually use a slightly thicker grip on my longer irons than I do with my shorter ones. For me, 4,5 and 6 are thicker because, at least in my mind, it helps me take some off the misses away. I was prone to a miss right with longer clubs. While the short irons were much more accurate. Thickening the longer irons reduced the miss offering better scoring... oddly driver is a normal grip but that’s only because I’ve not decided if my experiment worked or not and I’m not made of money 💰
Interesting video but I’ll not be going Bryson any time soon... maybe once I get 200mph ball speed....
