    I'm from Quebec, Canada and I bought a new 2020 e-Golf that replaces my previous 2012 Jetta with the 2.5 - 5 cylinder engine ! I test drove the e-Golf in 2019 and had been impressed with how the whole car felt and its ''made in Germany'' fit and finish....And since I drive about 12 - 20km per day I thought it would be perfect and it is ! I charge her every few days on my regular 110v outlet outside the house and I don't even need an expensive electrical outlet. In Canada it comes standard with the heat pump, heated windshield, heated seats, back up camera and the only option I have is the synthetic leather seats. The car is Atlantic blue like the one in your video. For those who don't need Tesla like range I seriously think it is the perfect electric car !

    As a 5-year owner I agree with your commentary, save for it being the best handling car out there (but only because Porsche Cayman/Boxster et. al. exist).
    e-Golf remains a fantastic car to own - although I've bought two new cars recently with better range, I kept the e-golf and still choose it for local trips.

      Thanks for your kind words, and yes probably should have stipulated in its sector etc. Which other cars did you go for if you don’t mind us asking?

    I own a 2017 compliance e-Golf built for USA market. The dealers got the cars late in the year and were happy to off load them. My base SE came with heated seats & window, keyless FOB, rear cam, cruise control, lumbar on front seats, electric seat controls, HD radio with AUX/CD/SD player, auto wipers and auto headlights. While it does not have a heatpump or DC charging, I really don't miss them as the heated seats do a great job and there are plenty of J1772 chargers. For those frowning on the 125 mile range, I find it plenty for Los Angeles and in South Carolina. For the occasional longer drive we just use the Prius, so I think for a lot of people a car like this is great for driving around town. BTW in USA a 2017 can be had for about $17,000.

    After 2 months of owning an egolf this is the best review on youtube. The only extra you need is the heatpump if you are driving more then 100 km on a daily basis

      We find it to be a great a great step in to EV ownership with a good level of convention feel while adopting the EV running gear. Glad you enjoyed it!

      @@DriveGreen I went on to buy an i3 and last year upgraded to the new Peugeot e-208. Will be looking for a 2nd EV at some point and an e-golf could be perfect. I much prefer it to the similar age Leaf.

    Love my 2019 SE. Great build quality, great form factor for day to day use. Happy that by 2019 heated seats, fast charging, keyless start were standard on the base models. Downsides: stock tires not sticky enough, and on some days I wish I had a bit more range. Strengths: handling, build quality, great materials, reliability, hatchback means it's either a 4 seat sedan or fits a lot of cargo, many accessories available for Golf models, super quiet. Plan on keeping this another couple of years at least as EV tech evolves quickly. For anyone considering a used model, I think they are a compelling value at around $15k for a nicely kept, low mileage model.

      Is this in the states? The pricing and standard specification is different in the UK. Great to hear more feedback from an owner though, thanks for sharing 🙂

    I've got a Mk7 Golf TSI GT 1.4 Turbo in New Zealand and am moving to the UK. Went to UK to buy a house and a car in May this year (2022) and after many reviews, bought the car first, a Golf GTE and loving it. Since, got the house now. However ,need a 2nd car and I've been humming and harring between the E-Golf or Peugeot E208. The E208 has the longer range but after having seen one in the flesh the other day, I've decided to settle on the E-Golf. The question now is do I look for one with the digital dash which I've come to really like on the GTE, or the standard analogue dash. The digital dash seems to be a rarity to find. I wonder how much it would be to fit a heat pump.

      As opposed to the digital dash the analogue dash gives you the SoC with an accuracy of within 1% from the 'true' values as obtained from the OBD-interface. The 'only thing' you have to do is to convert the somewhat strange units (in 1/8 instead of in 1/10) to 1/10 using the formula (reading-0,5)*1,25+0,5. where 'reading' is a number between 0,1 (empty) and 0,9 (full) and being read as if it was a decimal number.

    Nice way to test the water with ev, the Golf is certainly a very popular platform!

    • @DriveGreen
      @DriveGreen  3 роки тому

      It certainly is and we do see a lot of former Golf owners move to the e-Golf as it is familiar and helps ease them in to EV motoring!

    Living in Winnipeg when winter reaches -30c to -40c I wonder what the range would be.

      Depends on your driving style and whether you can charge at work. The winter months may be a bit tight.
