This is like the happy ending of some coming-of-age, rock movie. The main character-after getting a taste of life in the spotlight and the fast lane, and after losing himself in the lifestyle of a rockstar (the parties, the drugs, the women, and the media)-finally eschews the world of rock stardom, because even though he almost had everything, he nearly lost the only thing that truly matters: his passion for music/the love of his life/his self-respect (pick one). Now he shares the gift of music with the next generation as his now pregnant wife watches happily from just outside the classroom (does his pregnant wife just hang around a public school all day everyday? Yes. Probably. Who knows?) Anyway, his band carries on with their tour with a replacement singer and the world of rock stardom continues to turn minus our protagonist who's finally found his true place in the world. Roll credits.
This is a really sweet video. It's nice to get an update about an artist who's living a normal happy life. I also like the way he encourages his students. We need more teachers like that.
Nine Days is still together and making records and touring by the way. One great thing about being a teacher is you have the summer off so you can be a rockstar for a few months👍🏻👍🏻
I don't know if anyone caught this, but you hear the kid in the back doing some actually on point harmony? He has a voice and no one probably knows it.
Nine Days was my favorite band growing up. I saw them preform in New York City, Long Island, upstate New York & even Vermont at a Ben & Jerry's concert. I even tried to read Far from the Madding Crowd until I couldn't deal with the shear number of foot notes interrupting the flow of the book. Anyway this video warms my heart to hear it performed again.
Why does everybody always say, “I’d buy (so and so) a beer?” What if he doesn’t drink? And Why a beer? Why not ice cream or a glass of juice at a juice bar? I’m just saying that in my experience when people have said, “let’s go get a beer, it’s on me,” it’s always awkward because I don’t drink alcohol. 😆
@@RussellGreerOfficialbecause it’s a nice gesture and a way two guys (or girls lol) can sit and have a convo over. Plus, I don’t think I’ve ever been to a juice bar hahah. Cheers on being sober though, seriously.
Wow this is so cool. Such a 90s pillar song so cool that he's just a casual dude just chilling with his class and he's still totally got it. This is such a great version of the song sounds exactly like the album. Wow
So cool 1st time I heard story of a girl I was working in Singapore on fun fair 2003 was on an album called..modern rock, I learned it myself great to play and what a great way to get around teaching great vid
This is one of my older brother’s song for me. He burned a CD for me back in the day and this song was in it. I absolutely love this song. And when he sings this on karaoke, he’s singing it for me.
@DarkGhels thats what i said. read the message. i am saying that mr. hampson was encouraging the student in question to sing with him, and i am sure he was pleased to have such an enthusiastic fan in the class. what i am saying is that the comment was rude towards this student and used offensive and bullying language. im sure that these comments make mr. hampson sad to see, his fans bullying a young man they dont even know from their safe little hovels via the internet

I wonder if he ever hangs out with his ex-band mates and says "Hey guys, remember when we were famous?" Haha. Seriously though that wouldn't be too bad. At least you had your 15 minutes of fame, how many people really get that? Cool experience. :)

Great voice 🥰
In an alternate universe, a much different scene unfolds with the history teacher formerly known as "Old Dirty Bastard"
Still jealous to this day that none of my high school English teachers were former pop stars. I would have been more studious with my homework.
This is great! :)

Dog ate my homework... here comes the story.
I wonder if he ever hangs out with his ex-band mates and says "Hey guys, remember when we were famous?" Haha. Seriously though that wouldn't be too bad. At least you had your 15 minutes of fame, how many people really get that? Cool experience. :)
They actually still put out songs together. They just release then independently online ^_^
That is so cool!!
I sincerely hope the guy gets royalties for the song.
So was he famous before? And teaching now? I'm a little bit confused but I seriously wish my teachers played guitar in class!
He's been teaching for several years.
i am sure he is inspiring some of the kids good on him
I had a teacher who played guitar in class once. It was cool but he wasn't famous unlike this guy.
I had a teacher who would play a guitar I had another teacher who played the drums
And other teacher who played the guitar.
I also had a teacher who played a guitar in 5th grade. He was great.
You could tell he wanted to say shit when the "put up with this day after day" part came lol.
i love this
Aww
01:30 LOL!
UGH I AM SO JEALOUS
Would be really fun to sing harmony on this with the MAN himself.
@ReDHoTChiliPeppERlov Idk but he was hitting the harmonies in the song. not perfect but he kinda knew wut he was doing.
365 lol!!!
awesome
Something I've always wanted to know is why is there a pause in the chorus at the end of the song?
This is the story of a... Girl
오 ~ 안녕하십니까 ㅋㅋ

@ReDHoTChiliPeppERlov I would love it if someone harmonized my singing
Talented when u can be a singer and a teacher
He's singing in a slightly different voice than the original. It's softer.
