  • Happy New Years everyone!! We made it!! 🎉🥳🎉
I thought I would start the new year with something a little different than what I usually do…Glass on Wire. (Thanks Barbara!😉✨) These tiny component pieces are perfect for making headpins, earrings, floral bouquets, hat pins and more!
This is a fun beginners demo especially if you have never tried this technique.
I also decided to make this demo in real time so you can watch my shaky hands in action!😂😂😂 …it is not pretty….but I make it work😅
I hope you all enjoy these tiny component pieces and the earrings that they created!
Until next week….Take care, my friends!!
    Cheers- Robin 🌹❄️🌹❄️🌹❄️✨

Thank you! I am so glad you made it ☺ I will try to work with thicker copper wires. Attaching wire from two sides is a wonderful idea. So many possibilities... Thank you one more time and be sure I'll return with some more lampwork problems to solve! Have a nice day Robin! Barbara 🌻 P.S. Your mandrel holder looks professional, stable and handy, I'll look for something similar for myself.

Barbara, thank you so much for your spark on this! 🖤🤗🖤 I truly hope it helps with your ideas!!
I did try the stainless steel but it was just to hard of a metal. Then I noticed upon further exploration everybody seem to be using copper wire. All I had was the black coated copper lol! But it worked!😂
I also liked the slightly thicker wire… 18 to 20 gauge. The rod holder I use came from Frantz art glass. It was perhaps $25? Well worth it….but like I said, it is a bit cumbersome to turn for me.
Please let me know if there is anything I missed that you still have questions about!
So happy to be able to help!! Have a wonderful rest of your weekend! 💫🌹💫
      Cheers and hugs- Robin 👋🏽💫🌹✨🌹

Looking good girl. I'm taking a class in tin can art the first of Feb. I wanted to incorporate some of my glass in my work. These will be great additions to whatever my piece turns out to be.

Hi Linda!😃👋🏽 That sounds sooo fun! I love mixed media. The glass additions could add some wonderful sounds and movement in and around the tin! 😉 💫 Im so excited for you!! Thanks so much for sharing!!

Happy New Year Robin x these are lovely and I’m going to give these a go. My earrings are usually beads threaded onto headpins but I just love the idea of component designs. Thank you for yet another inspiring project.

The head pins, how fun! Do you think a silver plated brass head pin would handle the torch heat? Or stainless steel? Since we use brass tools in lampwork it made me wonder.
Love this lesson. Made a few sets and my 17 year old granddaughter fell in love with a sett! Thank you

Hello Arleta! 👋🏽 I’m so glad you enjoyed this one! There are so many possibilities here😃 Brass is good! Same as copper ….just make sure you have plenty to experiment with! I did try stainless steel but found it too stiff of a metal to easily cut and tool. Thanks so much for your comment!! 🤗✨✨✨
      Cheers- Robin 🌹✨🌹✨💫💫

Hey! I think you're aware I live in the wilderness called Montana. Land of those who scream the word "fishing" very quietly but with gusto only matched by the hunters screaming about their guns, antler points, or how many ducks there were in that really cold marsh! They are looking at me and quietly screaming "glass lures" in my face! Got any ideas? I've seen a few videos but always looking for more and I value your input! Thanks!

Hi Morgan!😂 love your Montana description! 💫 I knew someone that made glass lures….pretty cool and beautiful! He made lures before he started glass working, so he knew their ins and outs! I don’t know much about which lures attract what fish types, but I do know that it is very easy to apply the metal loops for hooks! 👍🏽😅I would probably make the lure on a mandrel? and attach wire loops with a pliers. You could also make it off-mandrel if you want it a solid piece of glass, attach wires hot into the areas that need loops and hooks then add the actual hooks off of the loops when cold. Lots to think about here! A Fascinating topic….I’m jotting it down for further exploration! Hope this tiny bit of input helps. Thanks for the comment Morgan! Long days and pleasant nights under that big Montana sky! Cheers- Robin 👋🏽🌹✨💫😃
