- Today is Part One of a three part series, showing you how to make these adorable pincushion ladies! This week we’ll make the head and hands out of polymer clay. Even if you’ve never made a doll head before, Paulette shows you in such a way, that anyone can do it! Give it a try!
All of the supplies you need to complete this project are listed in a downloadable pdf here: tulipsq.com/pi...
Paulette noticed, after the fact, that she drifted off camera a few too many times, so we uploaded another video to supplement this one. Check our Pincushion Dolls playlist to watch her make two more heads, and hopefully catch any details you missed. Sorry about that!
We are still working on the perfect camera views for each work station. Thanks for your patience and understanding! ✿
Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much Paulette. I love this sweet little old lady pincushion. So kind of you to provide these lessons.
Hi Marcy! So glad you're enjoying it! 😊🌷
Fantastic! You’re a real artist and excellent at explaining the process! Much thanks!
Thank you so much!🌷
Such an excellent tutorial-even if sometimes off screen. I still got what you were teaching. Thank you!
Thank you so much! We were still experimenting with cameras and such. We're still learning, honestly, but we're always trying to improve! 😊🌷
Gosh! I loved watching you craft this doll head. So inspiring. Thank you.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it! 😊🌷
They are adorable
Thank you! 🌷
Having never worked with clay before I found this to be great fun! Will be constructing body next week.
Oh good!! So glad you enjoyed it! We'd love to see what you make! 🌷💕
I am amazed. I HAVE worked with clay, but don't think I have seen a face built in such a way. I am so pleased I found this video.
You are a great teacher. You voice is reassuring and pleasant. Thank you. Do many times I abandon a channel because of not being able to follow instructions. You are experienced and organized. These king of observing makes for me a pleasant tutorial.
I haven't worked very much with polymer clay . This may be the project to get me more interested.
Thank you from SC.💙🧓
Thank you for your nice comments. This would be an easy project to give polymer clay a try. The secret to clay work is be sure you condition it really good before starting. It should be nice and soft and pliable, so if you fold it, it bends, not cracks or splits.
I absolutely just LOVE these precious ladies! Thank you for sharing. I Can’t wait to try these.
Thank you so much! Have fun!! 😊🌷
Great video. Like the results. So helpful knowing how to work with Polymer as a beginner. You have wonderful skills 💜
Thanks so much! 😊 Glad it was helpful! 🌷
Very nice!!❤
Thank you! 😊
What a good idea! I think I would try to make them look more like Scandinavian kitchen witches, but I love the idea of a pincushion doll.
Oh yes! We love kitchen witches!
Thank you so very much for the tutorial.!! I've learned a lot!
Thank you! Glad it was helpful! 😊🌷

Glad you enjoyed it!🌷
Very Nice!!!
Thanks!🌷
When you cut the dolls eyes and mouth, I was traumatized 😳 LOL! Just kidding! Great job!
It was ok, she wasn’t alive yet!! 😁
@@TulipSquare oh good!
I love your message
Excellent tutorial! One question - with the items being different thicknesses, how long do you bake your heads & hands? Sculpey & Prosculpt say 275 degrees, 15 min per 1/4" but since the head is varying thicknesses, I'm not sure how to know when it is all done & not overbaked. Thanks!
Thank you. I usually do the initial baking for about 40 minutes. Since the head is filled with foil, there’s probably nothing on it more than half an inch or so. I bake all my clay projects in a deep foil roasting pan with a ceramic tile in the bottom and tin foil covering the top. I’ve never burned anything this way, even if I left it in the oven an extra 15-20 minutes.
Can you buy a doll head instead of making one?
Sure! Some folks have even used Barbie dolls and other vinyl doll parts!
