Who's been waiting for this one???? I really hope you enjoy making your own and love it as much as I love mine! Let me know how you like it! And use #sewwithevelyn on social media on your own makes so I can see them too!!
I know how you feel lol I have always been interested in sewing, thanks Grandma lol. I bought my first machine and then followed a You Tube tutorial to draft a skirt pattern lol It gave me experience in many ways, my first ever zipper :) It turned out that it did not fit but like, where would I wear it anyways LMAO
The touch is very nice and so sweet, because sewing is not a hobby/career exclusively for women and it is easy to overlook the men who watch and enjoy her videos. It is very much appreciated. A hundred years ago it would be appropriate to call her a "doll" (yes, complement intended.). Sadly, this kind of respect and honor is almost completely gone in our modern society. This is one of the things I love about her.
Five years, pah! So I made one yesterday and it went well. Today I tryed a second one and added flapps to not only use it as a pin cussion but as a sewing clip cussion too. I addet a felt base because I realy fear to pin trough the padding. Know I am thinking, she will NEVER read that comment after all this years. But I feel it is important to Show, that Evelyns Videos still have an impact and inspire.
Great tutorial. Thank you. I made one today, super quick. Local store holding a sale, so I bought a bangle. I used the black velvet cushion that it sat on in it's box as the pin cushion. Oh, and as I can get a bit over keen when sewing, I put a cut down to size old credit card at the base so that I won't pin myself. And I only drew blood once when sewing the cushion to the bangle. RESULT! 😁
B Smith, i really like your idea of using an old credit card for the base. I kept envisioning having to make the stuffed part really tall to keep from getting poked by the needles going through the open spaces of the bracelet. I was thinking I’d have to measure the length of the pins and stuff higher than that length so that even pushing them in all the way wouldn’t prick me. And cutting out a piece of metal and forming it to fit the bracelet would be way too much work! (Yes, i do overthink things!). The credit card solves all of that. Thank you.
I have used a wrist pincushion for years, but your suggestion to stick the pins in sideways rather than “porcupine-ing” them was priceless! I’ve been doing it ever since you told us and everyday I think of you when sewing. Thanks, Evelyn!❤
Yesss! I bought a bangle off a non domestic site we'll say, jt looked pretty in the pictures and didn't expect it to be real silver but at least expected it to be silver plated metal...it was not. It was horribly cheap looking silver painted plastic. I thought I wasted by dollar, but I did keep it on the off chance I could use it somehow. I got a life lesson and a pincushion bracelet for only a buck. Can't beat that.
This is really nice. I wouldn't say it's easy, but certainly simple... requires quite a bit of tucking etc., but totally doable and worth it! Thank you for the idea. I made one and will probably make more since I want to perfect it a bit more. :)
I went to my second hand store and bought three bracelets. I have a lot of fabric at, so now I need some stuffing. I really enjoy your channel because I always learn something and I like your sense of humour. TFS
Hahahaha ! That's MY pin cushion ! It's famous ! 😃😃 Thank you SO much for making them for us. Mine gets a lot of use, and I might make one as a gift now.
I’ve been wanting one of these for a while but didn’t want to pay the expensive price. Thanks for showing us how to make an even better than store bought one! Love your videos.
I use wool to stuff my pincushions. I chopped off the top half of one of my husbands discarded Stockman wool socks and rolled it up. I then covered it in a cotton scrap, and added elastic to fit my wrist. The lanolin in the wool keeps the pins from rusting, and helps them slide into any fabric easier. You can use new wool roving as well if you prefer new, or can't find a wool sock. > Tom's wife Pam
Speaking as one who has Never used a pin cushion, I heard your comment about NOT putting pins in your mouth, that I am guilty of! Although I have Never had a mishap, I wouldn't want my grandson doing that!! I will make one of your wrist pin cushions, see if I can get used to it!! thanks so much!
This is fantastic! Can't wait to make one. I love the comment from the person who used stuffing from their couch! Brilliant! I don't have a pillow to sacrifice, but I might have an old stuffed animal. 😮😂
So just made my own pincushion finally. Though added one extra to it. A bit of steal wool to help keep the pins sharp. Heck if I can remember where I heard that from. Thank you for making your videos.
I made a couple of pincushions using scrap fabric as filler about a year ago. I struggled getting the pins to go in. Last week I took them both apart and refilled them with different filler, and now they work great. I've been on a pincushion kick lately, and these bracelet ones look really fun.
I use the thin end of a chopstick, to push in the weird angles of the fabric (just before you hand sew it up). Chopsticks are great for stuffing anything fabric wise. Love the repurposing of the cuff bracelets.
My project of the day :) Sadly the bracelet I had available required some of my medieval armor making skills to be bent back into shape lol I chose a solid bangle so I will not be poking the pins through into my wrist.
I have a granddaughter that is just learning to sew. I have been wanting to make her a pin cushion. This is s great idea if I can find a bangle that will fit her tint wrist.
Can't wait to make one. And yes ever since watching that video if I'm pinning or easing I have the mantra running through my head 'if it doesn't pin nicely it won't sew nicely' 😁
Although I love your pin cushion, I prefer my snap bracelet. I remade mine in my favorite pink fabric and I added a decorative scalloped border that I (unintentionally) found to be a bonus spot for storing my fabric clips. When the snap bracelet is open, it lays flat and upright for table use. 😃🥰🙌🏻
Yes,yes,,,i will make some. I was thinking black velvet…but you said coton…so i’ll do in black cotton. You would love my bracelet…it was a gift from my dad in the late 50’s, i still love it as much as the day i got it. So i need to go shopping for a similar one…at our thrift shops…wish me luck.from North Bay,On.Canada
Found a watch that has a similar band with a hinge that opens it maybe an inch more turned out to make a great wrist pincushion. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thanks for the tutorial. I used it as a starting point to make a pincushion using a keepsake from my mom. I love to make keepsakes relevant and useful!! Thought you would appreciate the creativity.
Evelyn, hello. I made one of your wrist pin cushions and I found that adding some cut out plastic from an ice cream container lid and placing it in the bottom of my cushion was a great help so that the pins did not end up pricking me. I hope this suggestion is of help to someone else. I truly love using mine. Thank you for the idea and lesson on how to make one. I really love your channel and thank you for all your time and effort you put into them. You are wonderful ❤
I do the same, and it keeps my pins nice and sharp and even cleaned the rust off some that had rusted. I made my pin cushion on the cut off end of a sock. Sock shrunk in the wash but fits my wrist perfect!
Thank you so much for sharing! I've admired your pin cushion bracelet for a while and am just now starting on my sewing education - so excited to now be able to create this! I think it will make my sewing journey much more easy and fun! Also that dress with the pockets and black loose ties at the color is amazing!
Thank you I used to have one but all of my notions and sewing machine was stolen several years ago and I haven't gotten it all built back up yet thanks again, love your videos your great
Last year, after watching your videos on sewing tools that beginners should have, I decided I wanted a wrist pincushion! Since I didn't know how to make one, I sewed a regular pincushion onto a cuff bracelet! LOL. It works, but it's big and bulky. Now I can try to make the Evelyn Tested version!
Thanks you so much! I will be making one soon. Just wondered, has anyone ever stuck a pin through the open parts of the bangle? I think I would want a solid piece of something under the fabric to stop the pins. I use long quilter's pins. By the way, love your style!
I watched this video a year ago and wanted to make one of these awesome wrist pin cushions, but I couldn’t find a cuff bracelet that was just right. Now, here I am a year later, and I finally have made one of these for myself! I gave up trying to find a cuff locally because there apparently just aren’t any, so I did what I always do: looked on Amazon, and found the PERFECT one! It’s made of silver filigree which is excellent for poking your needle through to attach your fabric & stuffing. It was only $4 or $5, which I feel was totally worth it. Not only is it perfect for making this pin cushion, but it’s really pretty! Which is a definite bonus 👍🏻 I just finished making it and it looks wonderful; I’m so happy that it all came together . Thank you again for an awesome tutorial! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Dear Evelyn, I love my pin cushion and am making my second ine out of leaves as I’ve been using pink ribbon fabric. I can’t sew without it now. I need to make mine taller and fluffier next time as pins fall out when bumped... but practice is the best way to learn! I truly love and appreciate you and all your fabulous teaching. You have helped me see very old bad habits, to improve. Thanks so much. Also, I wrapped my hair one rainy day and got many compliments. I sent you some photos in FB! #sewsisters. great. thank you for this explanation. Neat little trick to fold the material under the metal. i just recently made a wrist cushion as well as two finger cushions, Both w/ rubber elastic band. now inspired to make it in metal.

i cannot wait to make my very own wrist pen cushion. Thanks for the lesson. It looks easy and I'll send a pic when I get mine made. Thanks again Evelyn.

Thank you for the tutorial for this beautiful bracelet pincushion. It's so elegant. A few years ago I took some scraps of quilting cotton fabric, a big roll of wide elastic, and a sheet or two of template plastic (to keep pins from stabbing into wrists,) and made about 10 or 12 wrist pin cushions for my sewing group. They loved them! Mine was sent to my mother in America (I had it on one day when I had a video chat with her, and she just had to have it!) Then one of our group moved from England to Australia, of all places! :D She left behind her sewing stuff, including her little handmade pin cushion. So I finally had one to call my own, but I find that it's too small for my purposes now, so I ordered a bracelet/cuff from eBay and it came yesterday. I'm so excited to find a scrap of fabric to make into my first Evelyn pin cushion. Hooray!!
So glad I found this tutorial because I wanted to make one like yours. Noe I have to wait till we can all go out again so I can go to a thrift store and find a bracelet.
I have some store bought cheap plastic wristlet pin cushions that always hurt my wrist because they gouge into the skin. I’m so excited to try this and looks like it will hold a large amount of pins. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much. What a great project. I have one I bought that I’ve been using for years which really doesn’t fit properly and continuously stab myself. I am making one like yours ASAP. I also like the black because you can see the pins more easily. You are very inspiring. Thank you again.
I can’t wait to do this as a Christmas gift for my nieces who are learning to sew this year. Their classes don’t take adults so I am learning in Vintage Sewing School right now. We are having fun learning together. Thank you so much!
Nice tutorial very handy. Excited to see more thrift to vintage. Also just wondering/ hoping if you could do a vid on tips for different vintage styles depending on body shape? I have a large bust and adore thrills but I would love to learn what collars/ bodice shapes minimise that area. X
I couldn't find a good bracelet to make mine so I did it with Velcro and I really like it :) I want to make another one to make it taller though :) Thank you for the great tutorial
Such an elegant idea ❤️ Thank you! I will definitely make one for myself, but I will add a cardboard base between the cushion and the bangle to avoid stabbing my wrest by accident 😄
Thank you so much! I made one today it went well the bracelet part feels a little awkward my wrists are very skinny. But it doesn’t move and that’s the important thing.
Thank you so much Evelyn, that’s so helpful and useful and I’m definitely going to have a go at this. Such a brilliant idea 💡. And so practical too. xxx Mags
Thank you for this video. I'll be following your instructions and making my own. I've been watching your videos on sewing and really appreciate all the things I'm learning from you.
Very Paige very wise ! What about outing a piece of magnetic tape cut luring on the metal bangle band for the pins to not go through plus to help give the first band something to cling too as your wrapping the fabric around ! I’m gonna try on too as well ! Really wise ideas :-) ty
Who's been waiting for this one???? I really hope you enjoy making your own and love it as much as I love mine! Let me know how you like it!

Love this tutorial!! Now, what about the small clips? How amd where would you use them?
Does it not pierce into your arm?
@@woshimami If you make it deep enough there shouldn't be a problem. Anyway, the bangle will protect your arm.
Thanks for greeting the “Gents” in the audience. I don’t feel so left out or like I shouldn’t be here. Thank you.

love it, now to go thrifting and see if i can't find a cuff bracelet for cheap! thank you!
I have some store bought cheap plastic wristlet pin cushions that always hurt my wrist because they gouge into the skin. I’m so excited to try this and looks like it will hold a large amount of pins. Thank you so much!
LOVE that you use a cuff! The ones at the store use elastic and I hate that it spins around on my wrist. I'm going to have to do this!!! Thanks
Thank you so much. What a great project. I have one I bought that I’ve been using for years which really doesn’t fit properly and continuously stab myself. I am making one like yours ASAP. I also like the black because you can see the pins more easily. You are very inspiring. Thank you again.
Oooo..i love this. On the hunt now for the bracelet part...thanks so much..🙂
I can’t wait to do this as a Christmas gift for my nieces who are learning to sew this year. Their classes don’t take adults so I am learning in Vintage Sewing School right now. We are having fun learning together. Thank you so much!
I definitely noticed your wrist cushion in your videos. Thanks for the tutorial! ☺️
Thanks for watching!! 😀
Nice tutorial very handy. Excited to see more thrift to vintage. Also just wondering/ hoping if you could do a vid on tips for different vintage styles depending on body shape? I have a large bust and adore thrills but I would love to learn what collars/ bodice shapes minimise that area. X
Thanks for watching!! I will have more Thrift to Vintage coming soon!! Thankyou for the video suggestion 😙
I love this Pin Cushion what a money savor.
I couldn't find a good bracelet to make mine so I did it with Velcro and I really like it :) I want to make another one to make it taller though :) Thank you for the great tutorial
YES!!!! Now to hit the thrift stores.
Such an elegant idea ❤️ Thank you! I will definitely make one for myself, but I will add a cardboard base between the cushion and the bangle to avoid stabbing my wrest by accident 😄
Great minds think alike. I had the same idea, too. I want to make mine from sterling silver, so do not want to scratch the cuff under the stuffing.
Thanks Evelyn. Was hoping you would do this as I admired that wrist pin cushion every time I saw it.
Your welcome! thanks for watching!
Really liked the pin cushion. Great.
I loved making the pin cushion.
I adore that I have everything I need to make this just lounging around my room. Thank you!!!
I will look for a bangle too tomorrow. Can’t wait to sew one. The difficult thing will to choose which fabric to use🤔🤔I want one in every color 😃
I love you planned to match your pin cushion to your wardrobe!
Thank you so much! I made one today it went well the bracelet part feels a little awkward my wrists are very skinny. But it doesn’t move and that’s the important thing.
Love using the bangle for pin cushion, cant wait to try.
Great!! You'll love it!
Hello Evelyn. Thank you for making this tutorial. ❤
If you have it, use wool batting scraps to stuff the pincushion. It is lofty like the poly pillow fill, but will help condition your pins and needles.
could you use a relatively fine knit old sock for stuffing - wool or other.?
Thank you so much Evelyn, that’s so helpful and useful and I’m definitely going to have a go at this. Such a brilliant idea 💡. And so practical too. xxx Mags
Thank you for this video. I'll be following your instructions and making my own. I've been watching your videos on sewing and really appreciate all the things I'm learning from you.
It's so handy! I actually use a magnetic slip bracelet version, but I could totally see myself scrap busting and making some of these.
Very Paige very wise ! What about outing a piece of magnetic tape cut luring on the metal bangle band for the pins to not go through plus to help give the first band something to cling too as your wrapping the fabric around ! I’m gonna try on too as well ! Really wise ideas :-) ty
I am so glad for this tutorial! As soon as I get hold of some bangles, I’m planning to make several.
Thank you soooo much! I have an old one that keeps sliding around. It’s filled with steel wool to sharpen the pins each time they go in.
Ive heard this fable... 🤣 Do you think it actually sharpens them??
@@Evelyn__Wood Who knows, but worth a shot? Maybe a tiny bit each time the pin goes in.
