You packed a very detailed comprehensive review in 12 minutes and made it very easy to understand. I really appreciate it!
Glad it helped!
Finally a comprehensive review of the watch I've been eyeing for a long time
Hope the review helps!
I can tell how much time and effort you put into your reviews and it is greatly appreciated sir!
Sure thing.
An extremely underrated feature of this watch is the comfort. Ive had Suunto, Fenix 5, and other watches and its unbelievable how light and comfortable this watch is!
Totally agree.
@@DesFit Ditto.
Great to know, thank you.
Agree had mine 4 days now love this watch!
Hi mate you mentioned you had Fenix 5 I really like this watch I can get Fenix 6 and this but Fenix will break my budget and I'll go skint do I miss a lot on features if I buy this watch???? Thanks
One of the best review on garmin watch you can find on UA-cam!
Thanks!
You're seriously, the best reviewer bro. I got a garmin watch recently, your videos helped, a lot
Glad it helped, thanks!
That’s the most informative and detailed review of this watch. Just made up my mind and ordered one after this review and can’t wait to receive it. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
I watched the first impression video, waited a week or so for the follow up, but I just couldn’t wait any longer. Now I am a proud owner of this watch since November.
Glad you are enjoying it.
Great Review! AND I want to congratulate you on 30K!!! Always fun to watch your vids, the hard work, and the great content you put forward!
Dude! Thanks so much! 🙏 I told JF that I was thinking of a Junction trip soon. I’ll hit you up!
Thanks for the extensive review, went through about 10 reviews and this was the most detailed INCLUDING the look and strap of the watch on the wrist. Thanks
Glad it helped. Thanks!
Thank you, I hade my Vivoactive 2 damaged in the pool (used it for 4 years) liked the simplicity. I ended up buying the Solar Instinct after considering the Solar G Shock GBDH 1000, the forerunner 295, vivoactive 4 and the phoenix 6pro. All of your reviews were massively helpful to identify what I was really after and not overspend my budget. Thank you from Colombia, south america.
Glad the information helped. Thanks so much!
I'm used to larger and heavier watches so when I got this one in the mail I was a bit disappointed and it felt a bit cheap because of it's lightweight and small design. But after wearing it for a couple of days I must say that the size and weight actually is a plus since I can sleep with it without it being uncomfortable like larger and heavier watches. So far after owning it for a couple of weeks I must say that I'm overall very satisfied with it.
Have been doing my research on watches especially through your channel & I’ve always come back to the instinct so I’ve got mine coming in Friday! Thanks for the details!
Thanks and enjoy!
just ordered mine yesterday for 200 bucks. So excited for it to get here.
Very good review. Thank you, it´s hard to get this kind of information here in Brazil
Glad it helped!
Good review, thanks!
I’m very pleased with my watch and it works so much better than my previous Fenix 5. The display is more readable in especially low light conditions and the range of BT and ANT+ is way better. The only complaint as you mentioned is that it underestimate meters climbed, quite a bit actually. I don’t miss connect IQ at all.
What a great review! Thank you for being so thorough!! I've been looking at this one and this really helps!
Awesome! Thanks!!
An excellent review--comprehensive, dead-honest, and useful for people like me in the market for a good GPS watch.
Glad it helped. Thanks!
I appreciate the work you put into this review. Very helpful in making my decision on what type of product to get for my needs. Keep up the good work. Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada says hello.
Thanks from Colorado!

Great review, thank you. I've been hesitating for over 6 months while my Forerunner 25 is dying. This clinches it!
Did you get it? How did you like it? Have you compared you distance accuracy?
Nice review, I picked up this watch for marathon training and love it!
Glad it’s working out for you!
My first DesFit vid, loved it! Thank you and keep up the good work.
Thanks!
Two great reviews from you in a row. //subscribed// Great work!
Thanks!
Another excellent and unbiased review Dez. Keep on keeping on
Thanks a bunch, Tom!
Just purchased, connected the Garmin appand looking forward to using this awesome platform. So many exercise activities offered is great, unlike my Fitbit now retired. Thanks Des!
Enjoy your new watch! Thanks!
You never disappoint Des and that intro is 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks Michael!
This is my 3rd or 4th Garmin. I had durability issues. Also, wasn't mad for the Oura. Thanks for this review. Seriously impressive.
Thanks so much!
Love your work man! In regards to the inaccurate alti reading. The barometric port is on the base of the watch. If the watch is tight fitting or if the port becomes blocked with sweat or debris, this could explain the low readings!
Just got this yesterday (having sold my 6X for various reasons) and it is a pretty good watch.
GPS was outstanding, however I live rurally and it was a very clear morning.
HR also seemed accurate (although the 6X was great for me too despite many experiencing difficulties).
The ONLY problem is its so damn small compared to the 6X. I appreciate this is obvious but it will take some getting used to.
Apart from that as an amateur runner it does everything I need including custom workouts. VO2 max would be very nice as its helpful to get that clear positive (or negative) feedback but I will survive.
The main 'ask' was the GPS. I have a HR strap but the OHR is certainly good enough for steady state or long intervals (2 mins+)
Wow!!! This was incredibly helpful. Thanks. I really like the look of this watch and have been looking into reviews on this watch. I do think I’m gonna pull the trigger and pick this up. Thanks again!!!
Glad it helped!
Thanks for the awesome info... Just purchased one today after watching your vid.... Time to test this out!!!! Cheers from Australia!!!
Enjoy!
you have a great channel and it's helped me this whole day comparing the garmins I'm going to buy. You're earned my sub! keep it up Des! great stuff
Thanks so much!
Hey thanks for this thorough video on the Instinct. It has helped me a lot!
Sure thing.
Got mine last week, I love it!
Nice!
Ordered the instinct a few days ago & looking forward to using it, this video has been very useful. Thanks
Enjoy! Thanks!
This review is one of the best I have seen on any product. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Thanks so much!
Ok fast forward 3 weeks. I went ahead and purchased this watch and ended up getting a massive contact dermatitis under the heart rate monitor. Never had any problems with any other fitnes watch. I cleaned it regularly and wore it appropriately. Any suggestions? Of course i don't ware it anymore and I reached out to Garmin. I found this to be the perfect watch for me that's why I am trying to find a solution that does not involve returning the watch. Thanks!
My favorite fitness tech reviewer!
Thanks Christopher!
I just bought it! I hope I enjoy!
great stuff, i just picked one of these up, looking fwd to it.
Hope it works out for you! Thanks!

Wow, this is the best review I have ever seen! Like and subscribed.
This seems perfect for me I believe, I do alot of running and also alot of backpacking/hiking. Definitely recommend over the FR235 I'm torn between a few different devices. Thanks again!
The FR235 is pretty old at this point so I’d consider the 245 or this one if you like the style and wanted more durability. Thanks!!
Love the review and love the music dude. Keep it up 👍
Thanks Mark!
Sams Club has these at 199 this week. Got mine yesterday. Had a garmin 6 years ago with the chest strap, if I can only find it. This is so far a great purchase. Love how light it is and also the buttons. Now just to figure it all out! (BTW the price is 299 but they take off 100 tech dollars at the register)
Great review, Dez! kudos!
Thanks so much, Neil!
first off, I wanna thank dude for this video.. I Never comment on videos but felt the need to on this one. this is a great video.. very informative!!
Glad the information helped! Thanks!
I’ve had the forerunner 935 for a year now and just got this garmin instinct on OfferUp for $60 and as soon as I put it on I fell in love. I do have small wrist and I feel like the watch and I are one.
Black Friday sale 2020 has brought me here. Very helpful cheers!
Glad to help. Thanks!!
Amazon has them for 150 and I seen target has them for 169. I am also grabbing one!
@@vonperrin5370 I think your looking at the non solar version, keep an eye out for that if you are interested. I believe these never went below $299 on sale for Holiday 2020.
Very nice rewiew. I just ordered Garmin instinct watch and i am very exited.💪 Greetings from Finland.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy!
Really good video showing the huge number of features of the watch. I'll buy one.
Thanks for tuning in!
This is the review I’ve been looking for!!
Glad it helped!
DesFit it really did, thanks. You covered everything. I wanted to know what it’s like for gym work as I won’t always in the great outdoors, so I’m glad you showed that. And not having VO2 Max is slightly annoying, but I’ve survived so far in life without it. Great Review. Season’s Greetings from the U.K.
Damn good review bro! One of the few I actually finished watching! Just bought my instinct
Thanks! Enjoy your Instinct!
amazing review. thank you for the in-depth look at the HRM. definitely going to snatch one up at Black Friday sales
Amazon currently has it at $150. I just bought it.
I consider to buy instinct. but It's hard to get information about instinct in south korea. Your review is so useful!! Thank you
Glad it helped!
Nice review. I bought Instinct Tundra few weeks ago and i really like it as it has enough functions for me. I did notice that the heart rate monitor doesn't show correct values for me while walking uphill on steep climbs. The heart rate goes up to max. 100-120 BPM while actual heart rate is around 140-150 (it goes up to correct values when i stop so i guess it lags or cannot read exact values while moving) but other than that everything else is very precise. It's a great garmin watch and very affordable and i do love it.
I'm new to this type of watch, so your video was very informative and super helpful. Thanks!
Glad it helped. Thanks!
A good balanced review, spot on. For me better than my Fenix 5 plus, as its lighter, and less fussy! Oh and the battery life is epic.
Great video - covered everything I needed to know on this!
Glad it helped!
Thanks for the review. I am thinking to buy this one soon.
I have had my Red Garmin Instinct for 5 months I really love it. Mainly using it for running and occasional biking. I love how light weight it is for me and the long battery life. No complaints here.
2 week for using this.
Very agree with you
Great work on video mate greetings from Spain
Thanks!
I’m here cause of the Boxing Day sales. Great video!
Thanks!!
The best review to pre buyers!!!!!👏👏👏👏🔥
Thanks!
this video actually pushed me to get the garmen instinct!💯
Really good and detailed commentary, thank you. Helps to make a buy decision now!
Glad it helped. Thanks!
Great review. I purchased this watch a week ago and wore it for 2 Interval training workouts. It was not able to grab an accurate heart rate once. After both workouts it had my heart rate ranging from 78-91.
I know wrist based HR monitors suffer for weight training and CrossFit, but this one really lagged.
Cool looking watch with lots of other great features. Not recommended for weight training, CrossFit, or intervals.
I just got this. And I love it. I look at it every 5 mins.
👍
For a runner approaching a particular age.... who needs to wear glasses to read his Garmin FR235.... I really appreciate the highlight top right which shows day and date.... as my Garmin FR235 which constantly shows heart rate which I love..... the date is so tiny.... and love the elevation ....... did I mention reminds me of my GShock
Thanks for the info on mountain biking, I assumed my Samsung smart watch was bad for wrong heart rate, realize now its just the sport
Even the Apple Watch Series 4 had some issues. Just too much movement.
Very nice video , very detailed and structured one. And I loved the introduction Music too :)
Thanks!
Well done review!!! So easy to understand!
Glad it helped! Thanks!
Great review man. For what the product is you hit it right on the nail head. The features that it provides for the price paid makes it a great unit. Next time I see you on Mill Creek I'll say hello. Happy Trails
Haha, nice! Thanks and ride on!
OK, so it wasn't Mill Creek but it was good meeting you today. Hope that squirrel didn't slow you guys down 😂 Happy Trails 🤘🚲
Great to meet you as well! And glad you got in a ride before the snow! Ride on! 🤟
Any comments on durability of screen?
Excellent review man!
Thanks!
Great review and great music too
Thanks!
Just got my sunburst yellow one today. A great review pleasantly presented. And as you said - this one is really comfortable to wear. Just might have to buy a chest sensor, because my favourite sport is mountain biking. Have to try if my Suunto (sensor) strap would work with it though.
Should work just fine. Thanks a bunch and enjoy!
Awesome video @Desfit, I been waiting for this review and you never disappoint. Cheers 🥂💪🙏
Thanks Joseph!!
Your welcome Des, any time 🤝🤙
Thank you for sharing thoughtful insights. Helped me making informed decision.
I just bought it and I LOVE it!
Nice! Glad you are enjoying it.
Another great review!
Thanks!
Cool! I'm gonna need new watch soon. Bummer about the mountain bike tracking though. I still want that hat btw.
Great review. I also see the altimeter recording low but it appears to get the highs and lows correct but does too much smoothing between points. So on a decent it does not show all the bumps. Try comparing the the altimeter graph from the device and then use the elevation correction in Garmin connect. This is quite consistent for most of my activities with the device. Also have an old fenix and find the difference between the figures recorded on this and the corrected figure much closer.
Solid Review, I'm gonna get one too with the boxing day price!
Nice! Enjoy!
Thx told me everything I need to know again
Glad it helped!
Holy crap. First time watching channel. You look my buddies twin hahaha good video so far.
I bought this watch a few days ago, based on this review. Ended up returning it because of the altimeter problems. It wouldn't even accurately track flights of stairs, something my basic Fitbit does with precision. I wanted to love this watch so much, but had to return it on this basis. Plus, the black and white screen is a little hard for my 42 year old eyes to see sometimes.
thanks for the detailed review! 👍
Sure thing! Thanks!
Fantastic review. Thank you.
Sure thing.
Very nice video, helps a lot in making my decision . Thanks for your hard work!
Glad it helped!!
Solid review/video.. thanks for the info!
Glad it helped. Thanks!!
this was an absolutely killer review soo good
Thanks!
Appreciate the review, great work
Thanks!
I had a vivosmart HR for 2 years before it crapped out. Not sure how it did on my daily activity since I had never own anything before. But it seem fairly accurate. I mostly wore it for my health and it kind of saved my life. It was showing my heart rate dropping to 30 at night. With further testing, that was exactly what was happening and had to adjust heart medication. As for sleep tracking, it was spot on and to be honest, that felt weird it knew that much about my sleep.
Now fast-forward to purchasing the Instinct as I wanted something durable and frankly, one that I could afford. I don't don't run, so I just walk or hike when I'm up for it and it seems to track that ok. But for sleep, it doesn't have a clue and not even close. Garmin should be embarrassed. And I hope they can work on that and get it better. I'm still learning this thing, really have not put much work into it until your video. I do realize it's geared for sports and not a medical device. But it they could put some better health related settings, they would sell more.
Question I have is, how do you put your info on the map? Maybe a dumb question, I just have not seen how it's done yet. Thanks for you videos.
They improved their sleep tracking, but it’s still no where close to Fitbit. I’m hoping that Garmin will improves their HR sensor which would allow them to do a lot more accurate tracking overall.
Commenting to support the chanel🔥
Thanks!!
Awesome watch, it is my first smart watch of any kind and WOW, as an engineer I love this one for almost anything it can do, battery life, customisable buttons (I love buttons), retro, price and many many more reasons. BTW, the altimeter seems to be accurate within 2-5% on my watch with version 3.20. Heart rate seems to be kinda ok but I will do some nerdy tests and calculate the accuracy. Thank you for an awesome review. This watch also got me motivated to move my body more. =) And BTW, I believe that this is going to be a success for Garmin to bring in more people and hook them to their brand. I am already looking forward for what Garmin will bring in the future. =)
How's the heartrate accuracy?
@@emmac8867 I believe it is about 90-95% accurate most of the time, it seems to work best when I wear it snug but not too tight. But now I have a Garmin Fenix 6 =)
Best review so far
Thanks!!
I'm thinking of picking one of these up. I want to get a step up from my Polar A360, and the Garmin Instinct (tactical) would be very nice with the addition of the GPS/compass abilities. Especially the ability to set the location of my car as a waypoint for the GPS, which would give me a much easier time finding my way back to my car when I'm hiking!
For sure! If you start the activity from your car you could also use the Back to Start function instead of setting a waypoint.
Loved the video... best review out there
Thanks!!
Thanks for the review!
👍
Just bought one on Facebook market place for $115 I’m excited to see how this goes
Cool review!
Thanks!
Sure thing!
Brilliant watch the moss green I reviewed is the best colour in my opinion. Garmin have done a brilliant job with the solar instinct.
Ma man for anything smartwatch! Your the top G Desmond 🔥
It’s just Des
I think Im going to get this watch. Stuck between yellow and blue. rugged style I want. I had an apple watch and although the touchscreen stuff is pretty, i ended up barely used it. it had a small ding on it that ended up breaking it. Also Id like to have a daily active, normal watch that also has that elite garmin precision and feautres. Heard great things about these.
