- News broke this week (February 24‚ 2020) of a new mobile radio coming from Yaseu. The FTM-300DR is a dual band mobile transceiver with Yaesu’s C4FM System Fusion digital mode built it. At this time it’s difficult to tell if the FTM-300 will be a replacement of the FT-400 or not‚ but it seems to be that the FTM-300 is being poised in the product lineup at Yaesu’s upper tier mobile transceiver.

I see nothing compelling about this radio
Yeah another $500 radio. People ask me why I don’t get more active in amateur radio. Well then answer to that question is I simply cannot afford the equipment. $500 for a dual band radio? Not in my budget
I had to look at the date of the video to make sure this radio wasn’t released 10 years ago. Seriously, this does not look like something that should be coming out in 2020.
It's made in China, so on that basis alone I will not be buying it. Yaesu is a Japanese company so I expect it to be made in Japan.
Without having a try I would lean towards having good old fashioned buttons rather than a touch screen. I'm sure I'm in the minority there though.
Hopefully this will drop the price on the FTM400DR!
Radio aside, I am glad to see a new mic. I have complained to Yaesu numerous times about the cheap mic they've been including with radios for years. Hopefully this one is more robust and not just an aesthetic redesign.
Any idea if they have a 6 pin mini din for packet?
Can the record function record analogue as well as c4fm?
why not direct conversion ?
Great video! I think I will stay with my ftm-400. I'm very happy with it!
Hello from a native Wisconsonite! Thanks for your videos, good production value. I agree that despite the price, the 300 fits between the 100 and 400. I would expect a relaunch of the 400 (500?) with even more modern features. Glad to see Yaesu taking Bluetooth seriously, as that is an important feature- the lady friend doesn't want to hear my radio!
Well organized and articulate - good production values - good content
You’ve been a great help. Can any data cable be used to extend the microphone cord? Or am I forced the buy the Yaesu MEK-2 or MEK-5 cable?
Still frustrated they can't unlock the TNC for general packet use.
I would love to know if the new FTM-300DR has 'Dual band repeat' functionality.
I just bought this radio. It’s learning curve for me as a Icom user.
I smell a successor to the FTM-400DR coming...
Thanks for this announcement. I have looked at the FTM-100 for years but refused to buy it because it doesn't have dual band receiver. I recently upgraded my repeater to analog and fusion because my existing repeater needed repair. I am currently learning the. FT-2DR and the digital stuff.
Looking back at the video release and the FTM-100 and the 7250 have both been discontinued since.
