Hopefully Yaesu took care of the heating problem. I own a 400xdr and I can tell you you cannot have very long queue Tso's or the radio will heat up. Now I do have the ftm-100 and that radio from cool all the time
Question, you clearly also have a ftm100 and ftm400. I am wondering after having the ftm300 now for about a month of you were to recommend one of those radios which one would it be and why, maybe make a video on the differences.
I would say I would still go with my 400. Like the larger screen. The 300 isnt a bad radio. But was gonna use it as a mobile, but decided the screen was just to small

I don't really understand the point of this radio. It's just an FTM-400 with fewer features. It is a little cheaper, but not that much, why would anyone go for this over the FTM-400? Maybe they really want the dual C4FM receive.
300 has 50w on UHF (400 doesn't) can RX C4FM on both VFO's at same time (400 doesn't) Can do APRS on VFO A (400 doesn't) the mic is much better feeling than 400... The 400 is a great radio but the newer tech wins the day for me.
I like my FT 400 but it doesn't have memory banks. Would be nice in the mobile to be able to program in repeaters from different towns in memory banks. I do think I will get an FT 300 and take the 400 out of the mobile.
Does the FTM-300 record audio to the microsd like a Yaesu FT3D or only to the optional (and limited) FVS2? Not clear from the manual and I haven't got the chance to play with one myself!
"Made in China". Well I was about to buy one but I am very disappointed with Yaesu, a Japanese company, building the FTM-300D in China. That to me cheapens the credibility of the radio.. I also saw a review where the front control head falls off with the slightest bump! I won't be buying one now.
I saw the other review, believe he just didnt have the head unit snapped in well. It also uses larger cable, so believe it just wasnt clicking in well. I haven't had any issues with mine.
Wow. China. I was all set to get one but I’m trying to avoid all things China...which is not always possible. Hope there’s a non-China radio with the same functionality
I know, right. I’d gladly pay more for a Japanese manufactured transceiver. Then again, those buying those cheap Chinese - throw away - radios probably contributed to this business decision.

I don't get it either. Should have added another transceive band to the radio like 900mhz.

I dont think it will replace it. They both have some pros and cons
Cross band function in the 400. Not found in the 300.

I am very disappointed with Apple. A US company building the iPhone in China. 😂
