Watch all your videos, but almost never comment. Very sweet to see your appreciation for your history and the airline industry. Keep up the positive videos, the world needs more Bill and Lisa’s (and your families.)
I could relate to Bill’s emotion talking about Mcdonnell Douglas. My uncle worked for them for many years. Also, my father worked for North American Rockwell on the space program for years as well.
You made me cry. Bill, your humility and gratefulness is so heartwarming. You never forgot your roots and what helped you to elevate your career. Sending a very happy Easter to you and Lisa and your beautiful families.
Thank you so much, Barbara. Although the factory is no more, we're so happy the Exchange is there now for all the people and families to enjoy. Happy Easter!
I went to Eataly and one half of a sandwich was 12.90 (Century City) so, a whole sandwich for around the same price is a much better value. I have to grab some friends and head there. I never heard of this place! Thanks for turning me on to it!
As a fellow Airline employee, Flight attendant with Continental Airlines I was very touched by Bill’s words about McDonnell Douglas. Back in the 1970s we flew the DC-10 and it was an amazing plane to fly! Thank you for those heartfelt words and memories of an industry pre regulation, the good old days!
I was on the DC-9 line, but right next door is where the DC-10 (MD11) were built. The size of those planes blew me away every time I went over to look at them. One of my good friend's mom worked for Continental out of LAX back in the 80's. Good old days indeed!
Thank you for sharing! My late papa (grandpa) worked for McDonnell Douglas as well. Hearing you talk about the importance of it within the community made me think of him and how proud he was to be apart of that team. Keep on killing it with the videos!😊
Thanks so much, Marley. We were one of the last big companies where we felt like a big family. For Christmas, they gave all of us employees ham or cheese, just one of the fond memories I have.
This was such a heartwarming vid to watch. Its not surprising that Bill is so humble and grateful of the opportunities and lifestyle that the airplane industry has given he and his wonderful family. I feel the same for my career in healthcare. Despite its faults and criticism i am grateful every day for the comforts and lifestyle it has afforded me. Many blessings to you both for a happy holiday weekend ! Please do visit Canada soon. Toronto, Montreal or the maritimes. Food and cultural adventures for sure.
Well said, Paige. There's always a few bumps along the way, but it's how you get though them and push forward is what defines you. We're both appreciative and blessed.
I obviously watch your videos for the food content, but what really got me today was how much the history of the hanger meant to Bill. The career path it started him in and how it helped him become who he is today both professionally and personally. It was really real to see him get choked up about it.
I have been a subscriber of your channel for several years. I have really enjoyed watching your travel adventures. You're a wonderful example of a healthy, happy relationship and family. Thank you for letting us tag along. I truly appreciate it.🥰
Ahh. I teared up listening to you, Bill, talking about your opportunities early in your career. My dad ran airports in Northern Canada, so i can relate. And the food looked so good! You two take us to the best places..Thank you!
I was there about a month ago while visiting my brother and family - we had food from Kroft (poutine and cubano), poke and chicken - everyone really enjoyed their food. Bill I grew up in Hawthorne and my dad was in the airline industry for many years after emigrating from Argentina. Thanks to him I got to see the world growing up. My brother is also in the industry so it’s in our blood. I can appreciate your emotions as my family also benefits from this industry to this day. Thank you both for sharing bits about yourselves in these vlogs - bigger fan with each new video!!!!
Love that the space was repurposed and not torn down. Another great informative vlog! Bill, thanks for sharing your history in the industry. Your pride in your career in heartfelt. ❤
The wife and I have been watching your videos for the last six months or so, and totally enjoy them. Today's video really hit home for both the wife and myself as we both teared up with emotion. I grew up in Redondo Beach/Torrance back in the mid 60's and I am familiar with all of the various airline companies you mentioned. They had a large impact on my joining the Air Force and travelling the world for some twenty years. Appreciate all the excellent information you provide to all of us on a regular basis. Bless you and your lovely family.
Thanks so much. There were many companies here In the South Bay back then making parts Douglas, Northrop, Hughes, etc., which are no longer here. Happy to hear of your long Air Force career and the opportunities it provided to you and your family.
This video was special to me as well, Bill, as my dad worked for the same companies as you, after getting out of the internment camp. Thank you for sharing. Happy Easter Bill, Lisa and family.
Bill we could clearly see how appreciative you are of your early training in your career....and to see how it has evolved and how much you love and care for you job...its so nice to see, we appreciate you as without your skills we wouldn't be flying...all the best from England....
Exxcellent vlog Bill & Lisa - our daughter lives near here, and we visit this area often. Great overall reviews for us to choose. My hubby got choked up watching Bill…he could relate. Thanks for being real!
Thanks Aaron. Hard not to get emotional thinking back on your aircraft roots and the place is no longer there. We can only appreciate the time we had and move forward on to the future.
My dad was a captain of a Northwest Airlines DC-10 ( built McDonalll Douglas) He passed away almost 20 years ago. I have this nostalgia, heart ache when it comes to the yesterday of aviation. I feel so much pride when it comes to my father and his love/ passion for aviation.
Yes, I remember the DC-10 line, final assembly was in Building 54, the building to the right of the ‘Fly DC Jets’ neon sign you can see from Lakewood Blvd (and pictured at 0:49). Thanks so much for watching!
WOW! Looks great. Great place to visit before or after taking a cruise out of Long Beach. Aww Bill. I teared up watching you get emotional about your start in aviation. Now you can visit any time and reminisce.
Great video...all the choices looked fabulous...glad you both enjoyed yourselves 😉...learned a lot about LBX, thanks for sharing a bit of nostalgia with all your viewers that haven't been to Cali before ...safe travels and God Bless...have a wonderful 🐣 😘🤗💘
Thank you Bill, the airline business really was a big part of my family as well. Moving from Hawaii to California my mom first worked for hilltop aviation, then hawaiian. From hawaiian she moved to northwest airlines. Then when they merged with Delta she worked there until she passed from cancer. Her airlines family was really awesome people. Lucy was her name and this brought back good memories of my mom.
Hi Angelina. Thank you for sharing your mom, Lucy’s, great airline career. We’re all connected through planes, experiences and most of all, great people.
Thank you for sharing your story of your journey with Aviation. It was amazing to see how grateful and humble you are Bill, you and Lisa are truly wonderful people ..I've watched your videos for years! I've never left a comment in till today your video was Exceptional you made me cry!! LoL!! Thank you because it was Great to hear such a positive heartfelt message. All these years I've lived in the area and I had no idea that was right there. Thank you so much for showcasing this food hall and thank you for sharing your McDonnell Douglas story. It was very inspirational! Hope you two have a Happy Easter!!!
It was nice to see your feelings about what you do for a living Bill. Been watching you guys since you had under 10K UA-cam subs (yes I am a fan!!)I'm 52, took my first airplane ride at 21. Did 3 trips til 26 years old. I was terrified. Finally got on a plane again at 46 (yes 20 years!!) STILL hate it and have done about 26 take offs & landings since 2016. I love watchiing you guys & how calm you are on an airplane. Maybe one day I can be like that. ! Keep up the great videos, I look forward to them! !
Wow what an awesome place to visit. Lots of symbolic history and pride happened in this place. Thanks for sharing all the food offerings and personal stories that took place here. Have a great Easter !! 🥰🥰
A great place to visit for sure, not only for great eats, but to stand where so many aircrafts were hand built by so many talented people. Happy Easter, Mario!
Good to see you went to LBX! Just 2 miles down Lakewood Blvd from me! I'm still exploring the options there. So far, every time I've gone, the food has been great. The apple wontons at Morning Nights always remind me of the 1970's when Mc D's used to fry their apple pies! Nowwww... If you can make time to hit The Source in Buena Park for a Korean food adventure...😁
Supposedly, the historic, McD's in Downey is the only place that still fries the pies. Last trip to that location for me, was 2019. They still had them back then. Corner of Florence and Lakewood if you want to go. They also have a small museum on site.
Thank you Bill for the history and your career with wonderful aviation! I found this interesting! What a great place to have some delicious eats! Thank you for taking us along Bill and Lisa! Enjoyed this Vlog!
You're very welcome, S. If you ever find yourself in Long Beach, this place is worth checking out. Not only for the tasty eats, but to stand where so many aircrafts were hand built by so many talented people.
That was a great food haul video. Bill you were so authentic in remembering the good ole days. I am still fascinated with planes as my Dad used to take us to the Ottawa airport to watch landing & takeoffs. He had special access to a viewing platform as he made the routes/ charts for the control tower as well as the paper charts for Pilots in case they needed them. Great memories ❤✈️🇨🇦
Please check this place out, lots of great eats and history here. All the KC10's (Military version of the DC-10) used by the Air Force all were built here.
Being grateful is a great attribute Bill. More of us NEED to practice it myself included. The plate from Doner G and the chicken sandwich were my favorites 😍
McDonald' Douglas along with Boeing Aircraft brought job's into the community that allowed people to thrive in a community that we now see people struggling in. When you got nostalgic it also made me cry as well because our economy is struggling to the point where I believe is no recovery in sight. I appreciate the public service that the two of you provide, simply the best at what you do, thank you the both of you.
You’re very welcome, Clifford. Agreed, the jobs that McDonnell Douglas/Boeing provided helped generations of employees provide for their families, mine included. Thanks so much for watching.
As usual, it's an awesome food video. There are too many mouthwatering food choices. What a great outing to eat and shop. Can't wait to see your next video at The Hangar. I did get choked up watching Bill reminisce the start of his aviation career with McDonald Douglas. I, too, am grateful at the hospital I worked after graduating even though it has been taken over by a huge medical corporation. You don't forget your humble beginnings and appreciate your mentors.
Well said, Betty. Appreciating your beginnings and mentors along the way shape your career in the right direction. As for the food, we look forward to trying more things next time!
Hi Bill, love all your videos, I can relate to your airline feelings, I retired from United with 40 years, and fondly remember the DC10 at SFO, such a advanced and spacious plane with the electric doors.
Thanks so much for sharing. I started on the MD80 (DC-9) line and the DC-10's were built in the next building to us. I used to walk over there and was always blown away seeing how big they were compared to the MD80's.
Another great video! Bill thank you for sharing your sentiments on aviation, it really touched my heart! Yes, please come to Canada and try our poutine! It is amazing! Looking forward to your next video!🤗
@19:52 fumble! Watching this after Easter lunch, trying to get motivated/hungry for round 2 of the prime rib meat sweats. //😋I knew the pork sandwich would be bussin' just by the way it was wrapped. Shout out to McDonnal Douglass for making the F-4 Phantom and the F-15, two of my favorite model kit builds as a teen.
The zoom on your camera is incredible. You could read that menu board from so far away! Great way to save time and avoid being asked what you would like to order at every spot you want to check out 😂
Wow what a great video those sandwiches look awesome and you guys and all of the people in that place look like you were having a great time. so much fun to watch. keep up the great videos
Another great video!! Our fathers worked there when it was Douglas before Boeing bought them out. It was a great time for aerospace workers back in the day. My father would actually walk to work since his house was next to long Beach city college. We do go to whole foods and in and out burger all the time but never went inside the hanger food court so will have to try it out !!😊 thanks for making these videos!!!! ❤
Loved McDonnell-Douglas planes. We flew a large fleet of DC-8's at United back in the day. They just don't make planes like that anymore. Such a great career you've had Bill. I didn't know you worked for Douglas. So cool!
Sorry Debbie. lol. It hit me in the feels thinking about my start in aviation and working there for so many years, and it's no longer there. It's sad, but we must all move forward to new adventures. Yes, that porchetta sandwich was delicious!

Nice food video. It’s good that in the US you make use of the old and make new. We’ll put together and enjoyable to watch. Keep them coming!
Thanks for watching
As usual, it's an awesome food video. There are too many mouthwatering food choices.
What a great outing to eat and shop. Can't wait to see your next video at The Hangar.
I did get choked up watching Bill reminisce the start of his aviation career with McDonald Douglas. I, too, am grateful at the hospital I worked after graduating even though it has been taken over by a huge medical corporation. You don't forget your humble beginnings and appreciate your mentors.
Well said, Betty. Appreciating your beginnings and mentors along the way shape your career in the right direction. As for the food, we look forward to trying more things next time!
aww the tears 😭😭 too sweet! nice tribute 💙
Enjoy you meal foodies thank you for charing the rose Mary pork belly sounded good never tried it 👊❤️
now i’m crying happy tears too. i only wish I had that nashville chicken sammich. mmmm…. thanks for keeping it real.
For sure, thanks for watching. The Nashville chicken booth is popular, always had people ordering.
Luv Bill and Lisa 🎉😊❤
Been there a couple times, its nice to know new things are arriving. Village Cafe is close by & pretty good too 🙂
Another great video! Bill thank you for sharing your sentiments on aviation, it really touched my heart! Yes, please come to Canada and try our poutine! It is amazing! Looking forward to your next video!🤗
Thank you, Francesca. Yes, our first poutine experience will be in Canada.
So cool - my brother worked for McDonnell Douglas and Boeing years ago too
@19:52 fumble!
We saw that too, glad he picked them up. lol. Mmm.. Prime Rib!
Thanks for this vlog. Wow. Happy Easter. 🐣
Happy Easter, Lawrence!
This was great. You picked all the dishes I would have tried. Enjoyed this tremendously. Happy Easter!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! A sincere and touching video. Thank you.
Thank you, John & Jane!
Happy Easter and thanks for sharing.🙏🏾❤️🥰💫✨🐣🐣🐣🐣
Happy Easter, Devon. =)
The zoom on your camera is incredible. You could read that menu board from so far away! Great way to save time and avoid being asked what you would like to order at every spot you want to check out 😂
Thanks! Apple improved the optical zoom on the new iPhones, very clear now.
Douglas Aircraft/ McDonnell Douglas employed thousands of people for decades. I worked in the Torrance plant, best job I ever had.
Agreed. Thanks for watching, Michael. =)
My Grandfather use to work at the exact same place. McDonald Douglas was perfect for him. He retired from there
Awww glad you are blessed with a great career! Happy Easter, Bill and Lisa! ❤
Thank you so much, Angela. Happy Easter!
Wow what a great video those sandwiches look awesome and you guys and all of the people in that place look like you were having a great time. so much fun to watch. keep up the great videos
Thanks so much!
Love your UA-cam videos and the two of you make us smile. From big fans, UK
Thanks so much, Justine!
Thanks Beverly! I was there during that time too. Hangar is a pretty cool little food hall. 👍🏼
Loved McDonnell-Douglas planes. We flew a large fleet of DC-8's at United back in the day. They just don't make planes like that anymore. Such a great career you've had Bill. I didn't know you worked for Douglas. So cool!
I Started on the MD80 production line in the 80's in forward fuselage build up then onto final assembly. Those were the days!
Darn you Bill you got me all choked up when you got emotional but it was cool to hear how you got you start that last sandwich looked good
Sorry Debbie. lol. It hit me in the feels thinking about my start in aviation and working there for so many years, and it's no longer there. It's sad, but we must all move forward to new adventures. Yes, that porchetta sandwich was delicious!
I’ve been here but pre-pandemic. I need to go back and see what’s new!
Thank you for sharing your love for the airlines! We will try this when we head to Disney , the fist week of May! Gotta try those tacos and the Acai!
Sounds like a plan, Richard!
Another entertaining vlog. Thanks for sharing you feelings.
Happy Easter to you and your family.
Thanks so much! Happy Easter!
Oh,almost forgot…Happy Easter guys!🐣🐇🐥
Happy Easter!
What a cool video, loved it! Another place to go!
When you get to Canada, be sure to try "Montreal Poutine" in the old city section of Montreal. It's superb and in a really historic space.
Thanks for the info!
Wow nice place, didn't know it existed. Reminds me of the Packing House. Thank you!
Our pleasure!
