I'm experimenting with shorter videos and other ideas to fill the gaps in between our bigger docs. Do you like these and what other topics would you like to see me cover? Also, this is my first 4K video for the channel! testing out some new tech for future docs. - Esteban
Man all I can say is this TO has my respect fucking earned. I'm waiting for fall to come and host my own local with some luck and a good spot. Mad props dude.
Aside from general safety, I can say that arguably the biggest reason behind getting my shot was finally getting my shot at locals again. Fighting games had a bit of a boom over 2020, and I met some great people as a result, so you *know* I'm going to do whatever it takes to get that chance to play in person with those folks. Non-negotiable. Stay safe, anyone like me who's raring to head out ASAP.
I started getting into fighting games because of Covid and wanting to learn a new hobby. That was back in May of last year, so I am super excited to go to an event where I can get to play against people in person. I expect to get washed, but it would be a good place to learn and ask a lot of questions.
One quick thing before my actual comment, when I saw this I immediately went looking for the Empire pass app and looks like it called Excelsior pass. Think about the divide between people in the US that are pro vaccine or pro distancing/masking and those who aren't. And then you see the difference in results, like the recent spikes with the Delta variant that is in huge part mostly affecting those who didn't vaccinate. It's so hard to imagine the full scope of the extra effort both physically and mentally in getting things like locals back into full swing. To see this kind of attitude behind the scenes for a popular local makes you wish every local & TO would share the same diligence. I'm sure plenty do, but if they ALL did, that's one more business sector where we can ensure people are doing our best to be part of the solution and not part of the problem.
@@NewYorkCityTekkenCommunity Hell, thank you for mentioning it. I never heard of it and was glad to find out about it. Easy to confuse the name of the two, both run by NY state, the Empire one being for the state parks and excelsior for the vaccine app. Personally I thought other way around woulda made more sense too lol.
Good on Helst for looking out for players’ safety. I know we’re all excited, but it’s good to know people aren’t getting too overzealous in some scenes!
I actually just managed to slip in and buy a ticket to the upcoming CEO tournament, somehow getting a spot before they all sold out. Super excited to be going to this, I actually got into fighting games during pretty much the height of the pandemic, and in an area with no locals closer than three hours away, so this will be my first in person tournament ever!
The guy Helst himself and a lot of those in the background without masks or with their nose out. I do not think you understood how covid prevention works. I hope you will, because it is a great thing you are holding those events.
I'm still waiting for my 2nd dose of vaccine, and I'm missing my local fgc offline gathering already. But, even if I've got my 2nd shot, there's still a lingering fear that I'd get my family members infected when I came back home. As much as I wanted to go already, I may have to wait until the end of the year and see how it goes from there.
Kickass tournament organizer. I'd feel comfortable going to an offline event he set up.
Took the words out of my mouth
Helst is the real deal. This was my first offline event since covid as well and I knew I was in good hands.
Same
Thank you!

Good question but pandemic still not over
Easily some of the best FG content on YT. Need more channels like this. Punchy docs like this rock. Keep it up.
Good stuff man, this was tight!
I kinda loved this kind of short 5-10 minutes videos about stuff of the fgc. Keep the good work.

I love everything this guy is doing, great job on his part. Other locals should follow his example where possible.
Thank you!
As long as they are being smart about it like that guy seems to be then sure . I think the world needs to take its time alittle still though
Thank you for this, it's heartwarming to see we're coming back, with proper precaution I believe these events can go on, specially at a local level
