Sadly, Jeremy revealed in the 90s that like Audrey Hepburn, his songs for this movie were dubbed by someone else, in his case by American Bill Shirley. Which is silly because Brett was a great singer, as you see by looking at other videos of him singing.
So did he! He arrived on set one day and was told his singing voice wouldn't be used; not because he couldn't sing (he had a wonderful voice) but the part of Freddie was of a 19 year old and Jeremy's voice was of an older man (Jeremy was 30 here).
Wh6 the heck didn't Cukor better stage this number. God, just having him stand there just simply won't do for a MUSICAL, let alone a drama. Just check out how Stanley Donen and Vincent's Minelli direct things like in their musicals. They even dolly the camera in and out, imagine that. Cukor did fine job with most of the movie but shots like this are so beneath the energy level of a MUSICAL number.
Jeremy Brett, very handsome and talented actor. Unfortunely he left us in 1995. Audrey passed away two years before from cancer. :(

Shirley sounds like he swallowed a vibrator. Why they couldn't have found anyone better is beyond me.
