  • Our wonderful man portrays the ultimate Sherlock Holmes. Jeremy Brett sings 'A Wonderful View' w/ Sally Smith. It is from the 1959 play 'Marigold'.
My own Jeremy as Sherlock dream and I hope you all enjoy it. :)
Had to shorten it, because my WMM was throwing a fit! Grrrr...

So romantic! it was said that Jeremy frequently serenaded his friends and co-workers and did spontaneous acapella in restaurants.... Oh, how wonderful to have seen and heard him live like that.

Jeremy had the most beautiful voice, and an amazing talent! I often think that he has to be my most favourite actor and inspiration! Not just for his talent, but he was a truely beautiful person, and the way he led his life, despite the pains he endured was truely inspirational!

Jeremy had a beautiful voice!! God I love this man. So much talent, Jeremy was one in a billion. The world is a much much dimmer place without this incredible man. I love watching his movies and television performances but I'm also saddened every time I watch them knowing he's no longer with us, it was heartbreaking when he passed in 95, losing this amazing artist was very difficult to bear. Rest well Jeremy, you are loved by millions.

I "discovered" Darling Jeremy in 1964 when I was 12 years old. I fell in love with him as Freddie in My Fair Lady. You are absolutely right when you say, "you can't take your eyes off the man." I had all the SH episodes taped, but recently got the DVD set. Now I find myself trying to copy his little hand gestures - so graceful, so sexy. He will always be my Darling Jeremy.

I cannot express how much I enjoy when Jeremy sings! His voice is simply beautiful!Hungarian tv channels dubbed the series with an actor who has a higher voice,so I tell you, the original is much better!Jeremy's Sherlock has a deep, velvet voice which is a temptation itself...Great video, one of my favorites!

JB deserved more. More fame, more recognition . He was once asked for James Bond role. Heaven knows, why he refused. He's quintessential Sherlock Holmes nevertheless. Born for that role. I've seen him in My fair lady as a very young chap. Also in Rebecca with moustache. But as Holmes, he was THE MAN. 😊

To address a few comments seeking clarification on lyrics, this is a song about Edinburgh, the Scottish capital. The moonlight on the firth (refers to the Firth of Forth, a straight separating Edinburgh, south of the firth, from Fife and beyond), the misty blue that reaches forth to Perth (Perth is a city in/ the county town of Perthshire, a county considered by some to be part of the Highlands of Scotland, for others it's not Highlands-proper and that starts further north), I think the next time is "the biggest spires, the old town and the new"- Edinburgh's old town is a mediaeval city and so in the early 1700s plans to build a new area of the city were made to address overcrowding and dilapidation. The resulting area, built in the neoclassical style, is still known as the New Town, a short walk across the bridge from the existing buildings from the largely mediaeval era to the 1600s architecture (and of course more recent additions) in the Old Town (which I gather has the world's oldest "skyscrapers", 11 to 12 stories of tenement housing, very high given the technology available at the time and compared to other old capital cities), so that line refers to the view of (church) spires across the city. Thanks so much for posting this, never heard this song before and it's a beautiful tribute.

@daydreamer1991white You know I always wondered about that too But on one of these you tubes Jeremy answers this question himself. He was on a talk show and the host asked him why the studio had dubbed his voice. Well, Jeremy protested immediately, and said that it was actually him singing in the film, except for the high note, because he was a baritone and the studio wanted a tenor voice on that note, so Bill Shirley sang the high note, and Jeremy seemed to be okay with that.

Akármit csinál mindig nyerőre áll, sokunk szemében biztos- olvasva a hozzászólásokat-. Jó lett volna ha annak a szeretetnek csak a töredéke eljut hozzá, ami 28 évvel a halála után is itt a videók alatt a hozzászólók soraiból árad, bár ami a személyiségében annyira megnyerő, gondolom életében is népszerűvé tette az emberek körében.
