Sweet baby Jesus!!!!, Your a F@#$ing life saver!!!!! I followed ever one of your steps down to the key, got my tablet working again and and was able to recover all my evidence, legal documents, and prop/exhibit photos seconds before my court case. I went through a metal detector and x-ray scanner when going through the security check at the court house, and after that i couldn't get it to turn on at all to save my life ( Almost broke down cried!....ALMOST.) Found your video using my phone literally 10 minutes before my case. WITH A BALL POINT PEN, I proceeded to take the back panel off, disconnected/reconnect the internal batter, put it all back together and "VIOLA!!!!!!" turned back on 1 minute before my case was called! I salute you Sir!!!! and by the way, i was found not guilty!:):)

I want to thank you for your video, because my ares 11 nextbook would not turn on. I was looking online and found your video. You would not believe how much you helped me. I have three grand kids and with my tablet not turning on, put us to having only two tablets for when they come over. Kids are not happy unless they have their own tablet. Hey Bill. Great video. I was in the process of doing this but couldn't seem to get the cover off. Was basically just tearing the sides apart with my knife. I called the IT for my protection plan and he said that there sometimes is a buildup of static and we need to do a soft reboot. With the tablet not plugged into the charger, I held down the volume up (+) key and the power button at the same time for 30 seconds and it turned on. Everything works great. So for the people on here where the method you have doesn't work, this can work. If this doesn't, he said to do the same thing but with the charger in. Thanks for your help :D

God bless ya, Bill... My wife's NextBook 10.1 had this problem. I found your video, and now it's working fine again!! Now, if we could just figure out what causes the problem in the first place and fix it, we could go back to taking advantage of using the Sleep function. By the way, it is possible to open the case without chewing up the plastic. It's a bit difficult to explain, but basically you use the back side of a pocket knife or chef's knife. Slide it into the gap between the top and bottom parts of the case, and slide it along the sides. The wedge shape pushes the sides apart enough to pop the clips open. But you're Nextbook charges correct? If you charge it a little red light comes on right? Cuz my tablet wants to come on when I hold the button but it's not charging the little red light doesn't come on. So I'm thinking it's just the charger??
It fixed my wife's nextbook 8.1 like a charm. I used a razor blade out of a utility knife and a small electronic flat head screw driver to pop the back. Thank you
This actually worked for me!!! Many thanks, Bill. I have a Linx 1010b tablet and it was refusing to switch on. It would charge but do nothing else. After following these instructions, the tablet now switches on and works fine. Now the missus is smiling again as she uses it more than I. A happy woman = a happy man.

Great, it worked for my Walmart Nextbook NX700QC. Mine was not powering up, when plugging USB, RED led wouldn't come up, even after letting charging for 24 hours. After the fix, the battery was discharged, but now I can charge and power it up. Disconnect usb, I opened it with a credit card without damaging the edges. Unplug the battery, waited 10sec, plugged back, connected usb to check that was charging, disconnected usb, and put cover back starting with volume buttons side. Recommend to take a picture right after opening it for reference.
Iv had this tablet for a long time it’s been about 5 years haven’t used it for a long time, never knew why it did that … this video was a life saver thank you

I was a little skeptical at first, simply because I wasn't sure if I had another issue. Went through the steps. Used a thin kitchen knife to *safely* open the back cover (starting at a corner), once it popped, I used my credit card to open the rest pretty easily. Disconnected and reconnected the power and BOOM, it turned on. I immediately disabled sleep. I really hope this fixes the issues. *THANK YOU*

Thanks a ton, Mr Shelton!!! I missed out on seeing how far it would travel when thrown from a moving car, thanks to your video! It would've been the straw that broke the camel's back...considering it took nearly all the 15 days Walmart gave to return it to run at a stable pace...Microsoft auto-updates initially are much needed. ...ONE problem left to tackle: Plugged in, it doesn't always charge the battery and fooling with it may have loosened the jack...I downloaded "BatteryBar" and a battery icon in the taskbar shows blue when it charges and green when it is plugged in but not charging. Very helpful because until then I would leave it for hours only to find it drained instead. FYI, I'm an internet junkie, not a repair-video guy so feel free to post something on that problem as well. Thanks again!
You Sir have, by far, the best comment I've ever gotten on a video. I've noticed a charging issue with this tablet, and the previous 8-inch tablet also by Nextbook. This being a sub-$200 tablet and the previous being a sub-$100 tablet, I have come to the conclusion that they provide shotty chargers. No device should have a round plugin THAT small. Just tried this with my Flexx 11a. Worked like a charm! I was all set to go buy a new laptop. Now I can save my money and hold onto this for awhile longer.
Yes this fixed the Power up issues, changed the sleep options to Off, working greatunfortunately upon removing the back cover I cracked my screen in the bottom corner.it took me about 20 mins to apply the fix. great job Bill the info was correct and very helpful.
Mine is just like yours and same exact situation. I used a carpet razor and cut all away around it to it finally let me get a gap to proceed. Done exactly the same thing you did. Worked well. It worked for me. What was happening to mine was that the tape wasn't sticking very well anymore and the connector had wiggled sideways. I pressed it in place and untangled/straightened the wires. It has been working perfectly ever since. Thanks. :)
Thank you so much for making this video. I have a different model but once I opened it the insides were the same. In the past when this happened I would put it aside unplugged for a couple weeks and that would give the batteries to discharge on their own and then I would plug it back in for a few hrs and it would turn back on. But I couldnt wait that long this time so your video really came in handy. So for those of you who are scared of opening your case, unplug it set it aside for a couple weeks and then plug it back in for a couple hrs and try to restart it.

My Sister bought one of these Nextbook tablets, warned her to get a Samsung Tablet at a minimum... Needless to say, the stupid thing goes dead even when turned fully off and isn't in sleep mode. Worst tablets ever.
The company sent a replacement because the first one did not turn on. In less than 24 hours (something like 16) of using the replacement, it ceased to turn on. Since mine is under warranty, I will just send it back to the company instead of taking off the cover. I sure am glad that I don't need this thing.

I know it was in 2015 when this was posted but I keep my nextbook as a backup for my laptop when things go wrong or home PC is down this thing is reliable maybe a little slow sometimes but it has never let me down well I'm in between laptop right now you saved me some more time so that I can a decent computer instead of buying a little cheapy. Thank you for your video. Now my tablet is working again. Instead of a knife, I opened the back using finger nails, the edge of a cc, small screwdrivers and small pliers to disconnect the plug. Thanks again

Hi Bill, Not sure if anyone else will find this my comment, but I wanted to let you and others know that the battery reset also fixed my bios password not being recognized problem. Yesterday I set a bios password on my after installing a dualboot linux. I then connected a friends iPhone in windows to copy a video. The cable I had was flaky and ended up shorting out or something so long story short, next time I tried booting up my password didn't work. I figured I would have to clear the CMOS chip manually but figured hey let me just try this first, I have to take it apart either way....well it fixed it! NOTE: This did NOT clear the cmos settings, but it did fix the issue of it not recognizing my CORRECT password.
This actually worked. My stupid tablet hasn't been on in 12 hours, I did exactly what you said and OMG, it came on. I'm studying for my final and all of my info is stored here. Your a life saver. Thank you!
bill i have found a way to fix a nextbook. i just fixed mine right now and its working. all you have to do is disconect the lcd cord by the battery and the cord that you showed us in this video and reconnect and then hold down the power button and it should turn on mine did and im so excited!!!!!
I just did this on my Windows 10 "Lamina" tablet and it worked! Also changed the power saving features in hopes it wont get stuck like this again. Thanks man, God bless.
Wow... that actually worked... NextBook NXW10QC32G - thank you sir... Only difference was I used RUBBER GLOVES so I wouldn't allow the OIL on my hands to impact anything on the inside.... it works.

Unfortunately, the area around the tablet-keyboard connectors were really stiff and I cracked both sides.. But I have my tablet back and I'm happy😊😊😊

Just tried this with my Flexx 11a. Worked like a charm! I was all set to go buy a new laptop. Now I can save my money and hold onto this for awhile longer.
Yes this fixed the Power up issues, changed the sleep options to Off, working greatunfortunately upon removing the back cover I cracked my screen in the bottom corner.it took me about 20 mins to apply the fix. great job Bill the info was correct and very helpful.
Mine is just like yours and same exact situation. I used a carpet razor and cut all away around it to it finally let me get a gap to proceed. Done exactly the same thing you did. Worked well. Thank you very much for taking time to show how to get into the nexbook. I was thinking if I could just get to the battery and unplug and kinda reset it.. Found your video. She's back good as new. 👍

It worked for me.
What was happening to mine was that the tape wasn't sticking very well anymore and the connector had wiggled sideways.
I pressed it in place and untangled/straightened the wires.
It has been working perfectly ever since.

Thank you so much for making this video. I have a different model but once I opened it the insides were the same. In the past when this happened I would put it aside unplugged for a couple weeks and that would give the batteries to discharge on their own and then I would plug it back in for a few hrs and it would turn back on. But I couldnt wait that long this time so your video really came in handy. So for those of you who are scared of opening your case, unplug it set it aside for a couple weeks and then plug it back in for a couple hrs and try to restart it.

My Sister bought one of these Nextbook tablets, warned her to get a Samsung Tablet at a minimum... Needless to say, the stupid thing goes dead even when turned fully off and isn't in sleep mode. Worst tablets ever.
The company sent a replacement because the first one did not turn on. In less than 24 hours (something like 16) of using the replacement, it ceased to turn on. Since mine is under warranty, I will just send it back to the company instead of taking off the cover. I sure am glad that I don't need this thing.

After seeing this, I'm curious to where the memory and storage unit location is.
I know it was in 2015 when this was posted but I keep my nextbook as a backup for my laptop when things go wrong or home PC is down this thing is reliable maybe a little slow sometimes but it has never let me down well I'm in between laptop right now you saved me some more time so that I can a decent computer instead of buying a little cheapy. This saved my netbook. Thank you

Thank you for your video. Now my tablet is working again. Instead of a knife, I opened the back using finger nails, the edge of a cc, small screwdrivers and small pliers to disconnect the plug. Thanks again

Not sure if anyone else will find this my comment, but I wanted to let you and others know that the battery reset also fixed my bios password not being recognized problem. Yesterday I set a bios password on my after installing a dualboot linux. I then connected a friends iPhone in windows to copy a video. The cable I had was flaky and ended up shorting out or something so long story short, next time I tried booting up my password didn't work. I figured I would have to clear the CMOS chip manually but figured hey let me just try this first, I have to take it apart either way....well it fixed it!
NOTE: This did NOT clear the cmos settings, but it did fix the issue of it not recognizing my CORRECT password.
This actually worked. My stupid tablet hasn't been on in 12 hours, I did exactly what you said and OMG, it came on. I'm studying for my final and all of my info is stored here. Your a life saver. Thank you!
bill i have found a way to fix a nextbook. i just fixed mine right now and its working. all you have to do is disconect the lcd cord by the battery and the cord that you showed us in this video and reconnect and then hold down the power button and it should turn on mine did and im so excited!!!!!

Wow... that actually worked... NextBook NXW10QC32G - thank you sir... Only difference was I used RUBBER GLOVES so I wouldn't allow the OIL on my hands to impact anything on the inside.... it works.

I used the smallest kitchen knife I had in combination with a butter knife.
Unfortunately, the area around the tablet-keyboard connectors were really stiff and I cracked both sides.. But I have my tablet back and I'm happy😊😊😊
