Kurt, your "We have a very spirited first born who pushes you to grow.." is hilarious. Remember that for your Father of the Bride speech in years to come😂
Haha! Great idea. I think I’m going to have a tough time that day saying anything coherent as I fight back tears, so having something written down 2-3 decades in advance seems like a good idea.
I’ve been following for a long time (especially before and during pregnancy) and recently returned because we are considering a second baby (daughter currently 16 months old), but I just have to say that I just LOVE your channel. The earlier informational content was GREAT but I just love your whole vibe now. So great to see your parenthood journey and so cool to follow how your experiences form your opinions! Always so comforting to watch your videos! Thank you!
Loving this return to your very educational roots!! Learned soo much today. Have been following (and learning from) you since the beginning of my pregnancy and my daughter is going on 2 now 😊 You touched on nutrition education today. I'd really love a video on that. I myself have struggled with obesity, ED and not knowing my fullness signals my whole life. I want it to be different for my daughter and have done baby-led weaning religiously and we had great results. Now, we're just cultivating a cheerful, non-judgemental approach to eating, respecting when she's finished and offering snacks casually, with no value judgement attached. But I feel I'm still very much at the beginning with this eating journey and it's taken a lot out of me to accept that now that she's in kindergarten I have much less control over what she eats. Anyway, I'd be curious to hear your considerations and experiences around food choice, eating psychology and building healthy habits. Thanks!!
Happy to see you guys back to UA-cam! I watched every video on this channel through out my first pregnancy, now my baby girl is 10 month old! Hoping you guys can do more videos on how to raise a toddler~~~
Thanks for answering my question on infant SVT. My daughter is 4 months old now and doing great on her medicine, she hasn’t had any SVT episodes since she was 2 weeks. ❤ praying she grows out of her SVT around age 1 😊
Please do an entire video on introducing your baby's to food and building a good relationship with it. After a very difficult early L&D (thanks to preeclampsia!) , our tiny baby developed a bottle aversion around 3 months. We worked really hard and thankfully shes 8 months now, doing wonderfully with no aversion however we are EXTRA mindful of giving her only positive experiences in the highchair while we navigate solids. We make it extra fun with no pressure at all. Please tell us more! thanks!
So excited to see this video this morning! I’m about to start my 2nd trimester for my first pregnancy, and I’m loving all the questions and advice from y’all’s channel! ❤
Thanks for answering my question. My losses were at 8w6d and 7w3d, so they definitely weren't just chemical pregnancies. I will think about a different OB but in my area the options are very limited and this is the third one I've seen in the 4 years I've been married so yeah...getting annoying looking for a good one. At least she's kinder and more willing to answer questions than the one who I went to during my first pregnancy with my daughter so we'll see I guess. Thanks again for educating people on so many great subjects.
I was just thinking last night that I missed you guys! ❤ I took baby aspirin and still ended up with preeclampsia with severe feature being induced at 34+1. 🥴
My husband (coincidentally also named Kurt) and I are ttc for the first time, but I have been thinking about the type of parent I want to be/ think I’ll be for YEARS. Good to know there’s no way to predict this season of life lol. This video was so helpful!! Thank you both 🩵
There's nothing wrong with dreaming about the kind of parent you want and think you will be. Even with a 7 month old I still do this. As long as you're also realistic and flexible as you adapt to motherhood as you discover your little one(s) personalities and needs and your dynamic and needs as a family, I think dreaming a bit can help you be proactive about being the best parent in each season of life.
Was advised to take low dose aspirin since 7wks. Thanks for enlightening us on the metrics/risk factors. Doc said I am high risk for pre-eclampsia due to elevated liver enzymes but wish she explained further like u guys. Thanks a lot for all u do.
I agree. I've watched friends and family have 18-24 months age gap and they're constantly stressed about teaching the older one not to hit or they're still in diapers, etc. We did a 4 year gap and its been good since he can help but he can still be little enough to want to be close to his little brother.
Really helpful tips! I will say though, with preclampsia I did all the things and still got postpartum preclampsia and anemia (I just turned 40 a few days before my daughter was born). I also developed gestational diabetes (even though I had normal bmi before and during pregnancy and no genetic health concerns). Scary as that was, my OB says that I'm healthy enough to try to give birth to a 2nd child as long as we wait until our daughter is at least a year old. Say we get pregnant in the time we hope... this time next year... I'll be freshly 42 when I deliver our 2nd baby. Chances are I'll get postpartum preclampsia again but thank God I have an awesome care team. If you're 35 and older ("geriatric age" lol) make sure you have the best insurance you can afford. It makes a world of difference if you can have excellent, high quality care and minimize the stress of out of pocket bills with insurance that has great coverage.
I was started on two low dose Aspirin because of meeting multiple criteria that put me into the moderate risk category. That said, I also looked into the cessation of Aspirin prior to delivery (because I was considering the risk of bleeding during delivery) and I saw a study that found stopping at 24 to 28 weeks resulted in similar outcomes to people who continued right to delivery. I’ll be discussing it with my prenatal provider at my next appointment
Taking through this and your individual risk factors with you OBGYN sounds like a great idea! It makes us so happy when our patients want to have informed conversations about various risks/benefits of therapy.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on maintaining a vegetarian diet during pregnancy! I’ve been vegetarian for over 10 years and want to continue, but is there anything I should be aware of? Also, how do you feel about kids being on a mostly vegetarian diet? My husband eats meat, but we mostly eat vegetarian at home-would that be an issue for kids? Of course, I’ll let them choose (within reason-no dog food!).
Hey hey! Think you guys could make a video on nursing a second thine around? Was supply better? Did you do anything different? I was an underproducer and want to try again. Not sure if I should expect the same or if things will be different (maybe improve?!)
Screen time- we waited until our first was 2. We have a baby, what happens then when she should t be seeing it yet, especially as she gets a little older
If I have the news on in the background, but my baby watches it sometimes- is that harmful or is it okay because it’s ‘adult’? Should I shut the TV off completely? I am a SAHM and like to have something on in the background to keep me sane.
Thoughts on BC pill use to try to "trick" your body when dealing with PCOS? Provider recommended it for 6 months and thinks it will help me get pregnant easier? Could you explain this or know how this may help?
I used baby aspirin with my last pregnancy because of the risk of preeclampsia which I did end up getting. My most recent pregnancy ended in a stillbirth. Next time my ob said she would have me start baby aspirin as soon as I find out if I get pregnant again. You said it’s from 12 weeks forward. Have you known or recommended to take as soon as they find out?
I have a question (maybe for next time) if I was on short and long acting insulin last pregnancy and pre-diabetic outside of pregnancy (fasting above 100 ) is there an advantage to start on preventative long acting insulin early in pregnancy?
I have one more question! I know there’s not scientific evidence one way or another but did you do anything differently to conceive your boys vs your girl?!
Any tips on teaching toddler to release pee? Currently block 2 of potty training with my 19 month old she will start doing her potty dance or will tell me she has to go pee pee but then that means sometimes in the next 10 minutes she will go. Sometimes I will have running water in the background to help but she is good at holding it.
Try going to the potty at expected times when they are most likely to have to go - for us, after nap has been a classic time for learning to go pee on a potty. Blowing through a straw or on a pinwheel can be really helpful for getting their pelvic floor muscles to relax when it comes to learning to poop on the potty. This might help you with pee-holding behaviors too. Otherwise we’ve had seasons where we read lots of books on the potty to pass the time as we wait.
Frankly I'm sick of the lack of trauma informed doctors and doctors that hate and show clear disdain for everyone who isn't skinny. Epigenetics is real and the BMI chart has been widely discredited.
We’re sorry you felt any degree of disdain from our comments, this is absolutely not how we feel. In fact, our thoughts come from a place of wanting to protect vulnerable/marginalized populations. I think this maybe comes from the discussion about preeclampsia risk factors? While there are many challenges with using BMI has a metric, and it is absolutely NOT a perfect indicator of health, there are many instances where it can help understand an individual patient’s risk and then help inform the best next step to reach the best outcome for mom and baby. Higher BMIs are associated with increased risk for preeclampsia, among numerous other factors. It is important for providers and patients to consider ALL of these when considering aspirin prophylaxis in pregnancy.
My husband are I are due in May with our first little baby and we have learned so much from you both! Thank you for all you do 🥰

@ thank you for that reassurance, it means a lot! I agree, it’s all about learning and growing with your child and family. I appreciate the insight!

Any thoughts on Miss Rachel? We started letting out 16 month old watch a little a day and she's picked up alot of words and gestures rather quick.

I listen to podcasts to help keep me company when I am solo with my baby (most evenings). Maybe an option to mix in to your routine!
Can you make a video about trying to get pregnant while breastfeeding?
Thoughts on BC pill use to try to "trick" your body when dealing with PCOS? Provider recommended it for 6 months and thinks it will help me get pregnant easier? Could you explain this or know how this may help?
How was it going from having a girl first to a boy? Biggest differences (other than the obvious)?
I'm pregnant with my first baby what's can you have soda with caffeine in it in the first trimester and if I get sick does it affect the baby
Do you know of reasons why you guys don't use Metformin for GDM in US? I'm UK based and we use it here

Watch Wicked and you'll learn why the yellow brick road is yellow ;)
