      He does it the right way. Remembers and learns from the past and uses this to appreciate the present and future.
      I like the musical analogy. I appreciate the music that enabled what I like to exist, even though I don't like most of it. Without Presley, Led Zep etc. I wouldn't have the fast heavy metal I enjoy, but I find them both dull and dated now.

      Mm. He's politely disagreeing about what people desire for their own satisfaction. Past statements show he's perfectly happy vehemently disagreeing and failing to consider your viewpoint valid if it's a subject that affects others. Conflating the two is where most people end up wrong-headed.

    Jeremy is actually very open minded & a true animal lover. Hammond is an old classic cars & bike enthusiast with little interest for any modern hyper car, and he actually loves food & cooking. James is actually the most modern, artistic, & oddly liberal of them all. He loves technology and is far from the dull, old, slow, outdated impression we get from watching him on TG/GT.
    After watching many if not all of his UA-cam & none car related appearances on TV, I'm not surprised by this move.
    P.S. The 308 is without a doubt, one of the top 3 best looking cars of all time.

As the only railway enthusiast in my school, the only way I can explain why certain locomotives like Flying Scotsman, Mallard, the UP Big Boys and such are so famous/significant is to compare them with something modern like the bullet and maglev trains. Their time of fame has sadly disappeared and sometimes, it really is better to let the memories live in the past.

Call a Tesla per App, get in, watch YT-videos of blokes driving real cars, get out and the Tesla gets and picks up the next customer all by itself. • @Dischingo
      @Dischingo 4 роки тому +1

      At that point you could buy a newer car with all the relevant technology for probably a lot cheaper. Sure you can put brand new things in the car make it "new" but that just ruins any value the car had its an old car people who like old cars will love it for its vintage quality.

    • @2KXMKR
      @2KXMKR 4 роки тому +6

      @@Dischingo Very true, but there is a very small pocket of car people that want that vintage car look with daily driver qualities. The Eagle E Type, Singer 911 and as I say, Morgan. I'd personally buy a Morgan Plus 4 over a BMW Z4 for example. Both two seater sports cars but the Morgan offers that vintage look. I'd imagine quite a few people would take a revised 308 over a new Ferrari of similar price, if it offered them a similar driving experience.

They made fun of it on Top Gear when it came out (and no, I don't have a Trilby to wear when driving it) it's not the fastest, but it isn't shamefully slow, it handles very, VERY well, it's luxurious without being snobbish, and it even has weird faults and quirks that any exotic does... heheh, but it is an all weather grand tourer and it does great for that role.
      It may not (probably does not!) fit you, but for me, it's still amazing.
      If that Ferrari didn't do that for me, it'd be gone, too. Like the Triumph Spitfire, the Charger, the Toyota Celica, the Mustang, the GLH Turbo, the Pontiac GTO, the SuperBee, all been in my life, and now are all history.

      The problem is Ferrari don't believe in producing new relic models.
      Our minds eye, gets old.
      This fools us into thinking the car is old and not suited to you.
      Ferrari doesn't see cars that way.
      The Ferrari car has a full tank of potential energy when it's clean and in 100% condition.
      That's the whole point of handmade engines.
      The colour is tuned for you.
      You fill up the tank with potential energy.

    One of the things I really like about old, pre-computer controlled, cars is that everything on the car was a function of physics rather than electronics. It's a bit like the change from analog to digital music, even if you can't hear the difference, the digital is always going to be an approximation of the analog. Modern cars are obviously better in every measurable way, but I do still like what we were able to do with the tech we had at the time. Kind of like looking at a Saturn V and realizing it's technology is over 50 years old, but it still got us to the moon.

It's very much a, "been there, done that" moment, made far easier by the fact that the Ferrari he loves is still around so I fully understand.
