@@sleepcoach Might this be a way to discourage people from buying gas ranges. If that is so, this is a very insensitive way to do it. Whoever does it intentionally, puts every family who purchase one of those in high danger.
This just happened to us and I have video. My wife was cleaning and just wiped it softly and it did not click but turned from high to the lowest position without being lit. It was in for about 10-11 hours!!! It took me over 90 minutes to air out over 3000 sq feet. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!!
I just bought an LG range very similar to this one from Costco. It will be delivered next week. I spent a lot of time shopping around before I decided on an LG. Turned lots of knobs on many different brands of stoves--I can't that I remembered any where it didn't take considerable action to get the gas flowing. I currently have a 22 year old Kenmore gas range which has knobs on the front just like this LG. I've never had an incident where I inadvertently turned on the gas. Over the years I have used many gas ranges and never had this issue. I've never heard of a home gas explosion that was caused by a gas stove. If this were a common problem, then why haven't more homes blown up?
This happens to us often. Even a light tap with a grocery bag or jacket will turn the gas on and not light the burner. We are paranoid about this stupid stove.
Hello every one, can some please share details on the replacement of the levers that support the KNOB for the oven on LG gas range MODEL LSG5513ST. Thanks
Hi, I had the broken part replace last year. The controllers are made of plastic and so fragile that they won’t last longer. It is poorly designed and not reliable.
Happened to me more times than I can count. Now concerned for my elderly tenants. Full disclosure provided to tenants, with monthly reminders. Why does LG not recall gas stoves & provide a safety fix?
Happens to us with our LG stove ALL the time. I keep a sharp eye on the knobs. One time I woke up in the middle of the night and smelled gas, even with our door closed. Got up and the knob was full on with gas blasting. The dog had jumped and knocked it on with his paw. These knobs are so dangerous. I’m surprised no one has been killed yet.
We have an LG6337 slide-in gas range with front-mounted controls. You have to push a knob in fully in order to turn it. Problem solved, and unit highly recommended!
@@thomasel9171 1. LG is aware of the problem and fixed it in subsequent production. 2. Owners of older units should pressure the company into providing a safety retrofit kit, which should not be all that difficult.
That's insane. I am here because my family bought a Frigidaire on Columbus day and today while I was turning off the stove, it kept spinning in a way I couldn't verify whether the kitchen top was on or off. There's was no stopper. It feels like when you purchase a cheap electronic toy.
This only on North America. In Europe the gas valve shots off if there is no heat, so you need to intentionally hold the valve the run the gas. My mothers 45 years gastove has this safety alrady in place.....
When I was a kid in the 60’s we had a gas range. My parents taught me to stay away from that, knives, watch for cars, strangers. And I survived. TEACH your children and things can be prevented. Don’t blame a manufacturer for your lack of parenting skills or enforcement. Just sayin.
LG MUST recall all these ranges. I have read multiple cases it almost burnt down the house. LG is cleary aware of the issue, and LG must act as long it LG values people's lives.
Has happened multiple times with our lg, its fucking ridiculous how sensetive they are, just had some groceries placed on top of a range stove and they caught fire because someone lightly brushed against it! The fuck kind of design is this? A child could push it, a dogs fucking tail couldve done it!
Beautiful product but the design is obviously functionally flawed. Sounds like the Corvair case where GM would not fix obvious dangers. So are their lawyers measuring the cost of a Ralph Naderish class action negligence suit versus the cost of fixing the design or recall? Maybe stay away from this product---See Nader's book, Unsafe at any Speed.
I just brought the same stove and the knobs turns on very easy and the ping sounds doesn’t always work and anything on top of it catches fire and burns this stove is definitely a shoe in for a class action lawsuit and we as consumers are paying thousands for these products and get a couple of hundreds worth of product it so sad
This happens on all GAS stoves with knobs on front
Definitely has happened to us. I know reaching over flames is deemed "dangerous" but I think having the gas on unknowingly is much worse.

@@guiller2371 I doubt it. We went with a new Samsung and the knobs are now higher and you have to push down to turn. I’m loving this range so far!
no usually you have to push down to turn for safety, like on a viking
I purchased this a few months ago. The knobs are easy to turn. Buttons on dishwasher very sensitive too.

Yes!! Our dog has turned ours on twice jumping up to get food off the stove. Along with numerous times one of us has bumped them on. So scary.
Has anyone found a fix for this?
I had a bag next to my electric and bumped the knob and burned it.
Is there a safety cover?

Please let me know if you found an answer for this. I haven’t used my oven for about a year because the knob broke. Can’t believe they used plastic

@@mk7j7 I COMPLETELY AGREE. Mine is getting replaced because of another problem. I’m going with gas. The cooktop on this one is HORRIBLE too.
I have the same problem with our electric stove

Sounds nice john, how does that pertain to ones that dont work like that? Such as the ones that are fucked, like mine

My LG electric is also too easy to bump on. Would not buy again.

Yes it’s true happened to us
I woke to gas after earlier in the evening I leaned against the knob reaching for the microwave
Our LG electric stove top has the same problem. Barely touch the knob and it will turn on the burner. Very dangerous. I hate this stove.

Maybe pay attention to what you're doing especially when you have natural gas piped into your house.
I have LG, and It has very poor design, it can turn on accidently for all knobs without any slight resistance.
LG MUST recall all these ranges. I have read multiple cases it almost burnt down the house. LG is cleary aware of the issue, and LG must act as long it LG values people's lives.
Thanks I'll take this LG option off my list and look at the nobs very closely on other brands❤️🇨🇦
