I have this guitar (in the same Cherry color!) and it's an OUTSTANDING guitar! The quality, sound, aesthetics, and feel are incredible for the price. I've played the Gibson 339 and IMO, this Epiphone is very, very close to the sound of the Gibson. So much so that this guitar, I could imagine being much higher priced if it wasn't built in Asia. Also, the price difference between the Gibson and this Epiphone is absolutely ridiculous. The closeness of the overall sound and the quality of this Epiphone DOES NOT merit the Gibson to be so ludicrously expensive. Great video review, excellent playing, and FORZA ITALIA!!!!
Great review. I bought an ES-339 back in 2019 and I have to say, it's the best guitar I've ever owned after a year of using it as my main instrument. I usually play Strats and Teles, so I am more of a single coil guy. I have went through a few Les Pauls and an SG, but it wasn't until I got this guitar, I finally found some good humbucker sounds I always wanted and the hands down the best clean tones I've achieved from humbuckers. IMO I find the pickups Epiphone uses for the ES models (AlNiCo Classic PRO) to be voiced a bit more spanky and twangy, than they sound in Les Pauls. The ES matches up pretty well next to a Strat in a mix. Apart from Blues, Rock and Jazz, I find them very useful for playing Country music too. I can get some great twangy tones out of the bridge pickup that rival that of a Telecaster.
I have the generation 1 Red version and I bought a SQUIRE. BulletStrat and Tele and I just got a Epiphone LP Muse. The 2 Epiphones sound and look better. Needless to say they're my favorite guitars. My dream guitar 1959 Epiphone LP. It sounds better than Gibson's model personally to me.
Mike, I agree, I have owned about 35 guitars of all types, and I love this 339. It seems like it is the easiest to play. I think its the body size and the distance from the belly curve to the end of the neck, (I play mostly sitting down). Also the pickups etc, and resonance, are so good, not muddy at all. Almost spanks like a tele sometimes.......... but also smooth on neck pickup.
@@danfurr1907 I have a 2018, and its my absolute go to. Just the nicest guitar to play for the reasons you mentioned, but the neck really feels the best for me. I decided to refinish it and that just made it more my own. My only thought all along was, the p/u's are good but... Then I got the 2020 50's LP, and put some seth lovers in it so i could put the probuckers in the 339. I dont see having to change anything else ever.
I saw one of these at a local music store. I'm Normally not into thia kinda guitar, but that one caught my eye... I'm gonna head back there sometime, and if it's still there, I'm gonna give her a spin
I have this guitar in Tobacco Burst, love mine! I have a great Martin acoustic cutaway, a Custom Shop Fender Strat also but as much as I would NEVER part with them I’m never going to part with my little secret artistic weapon of Musica! The woman tone will not truly be achieved by this guitar because it has more open space in the resonance but it will never leave my 3 Axe Arsenal. This should complete without depleting your wallet, hell of a bargain
I have this exact guitar (same colour, even). After a few months I decided the pickups were a bit dull in comparison with some more expensive guitars I was hearing. Invested 100 dollars in some Seymour Duncans and this is now my favourite guitar. Very playable and extremely versatile.

@@jonskaptason8840 I agree with you. I have the set Hot Rodded Seymour Duncan SH2+SH4 in a Les Paul, and they are my favourite pickups. Nice review. I was watching Jon Herrington, Steely Dan's guitarist, playing his cs336 and thought I'd like one of them, until I saw the price! This might just be the poor man's alternative that I need!!
I just got one of these in Pelham Blue the other week as an early Christmas gift. I am liking it a lot so far! I formerly only used SGs but I got an Epiphone Les Paul and Dot this last year and felt something in between like the 339 would be just about perfect, and so far it seems to be. Actually, in a lot of ways the ES-339 is the midpoint of Gibson's three main guitar designs (the Les Paul, SG, and ES-335): the 339 is just a tad bigger than their solid-body guitars (the lower bout being just a bit bigger than the Les Paul's and the upper bout being about the same size as the SG's), the 339 is double cut like the SG and ES-335, and the 339 is thicker with an arched top like the Les Paul and ES-335. :)
Ive got a cherry red one too. I was intending to buy a 330 or 335 but as I sat and played I came back to the 339 every time and the guitar chose itself. Lovely playing btw.
When I first bought mine I had the option of the P90 version but I like humbuckers..

Would you suggest this guitar to someone with small hands? because the newer es-339 i know has a rounded C which i know to be thicker than the slim taper D that the es-339 pro has to offer.
This guitar does not NEED a pickup upgrade. It only needs a pickup selector switch and electronics upgrade. True Story: Instead of upgrading my Epi 339, I instead purchased an $899 D'angelico Premier Mini DC. WHAT A MISTAKE!!! The far cheaper Epi 339 sounds better than the D'angelico. I like the 60’s slim taper. The rounded C is more of a handful. I have both. The slim wins for me. One of my LP’s had the C and a reshaped it to almost the slim D. It’s the narrower shoulder of the slim that does it for me.
