I'm so sorry for your loss. I know you care deeply for all your animals, this isn't just about breeding. Thanks for taking the opportunity to teach about the fridge freezer issue. Can't wait to meet all the cute babies !
Yeah, freezing turns the water and other liquid in the body and cells to ice and destroys cells and DNA which is what is needed in testing for various forms of cancer. It's why we can't just go Jurassic Park on the mammoths in Siberia. Their DNA is in a million pieces because of the millions of years freezing and thawing. (Also I don't know to what end anyone would want to bring back a mammoth. There's no food for them here and the climate is too warm. It would be to look at them and have people pay stupid amounts to look at them)
I just lost my budgie, who I had for 5 years (almost six) , since she was a chick, and I just want to say it's always so nice to see how happy and healthy Cheyenne is in your videos. I'm always glad to see how well you guys take care of your animals, and how relaxed they always seem. Thank you for being amazing and not just treating your animals well, but showing others how to take good care of their animals too.
I know this is a year old, but I had my budgie Skye for 5 years ❤️ as you'll probably know by now, the pain does get less over time but the memories never go away. I hope you'll always remember your girl, and tbh if you haven't gotten another pet by now, and you're sort of over your grief, I'd recommend another one. They really do help with the pain. I know it might be hard, but at least consider it. I can say it from experience.

I'm so sorry for your Sable! They were such a cool snake! I'm looking forward to see what the Babies will look like from the Rat snakes. Wish you good luck!
I've heard lavender is a weak morph due to inbreeding, and many breeders will actually not pair two visual lavenders together because of the higher mortality rate of the animals that result. I wonder if it's similar with sable? Either way, sorry for your loss :( Sabelle was a good girl. I hope you end up with lots of healthy baby noodles this year!
Do you have any more information on this? I've been thinking about getting a lavender hognose at some point, but I don't want to buy a morph if there are health issues associated with it
You can mitigate the chances of buying an unhealthy animal that wont croak on you by asking the breeder what the pairing was, maybe even go as far as asking from where they got the snakes. In general, you want a breeder who cares for the health of the animal and not just to sell you a nice looking snake. Lavender is my favorite gene, just do your research on the breeder. Bad bred lavenders die before maturity.
Hello Emily and Ed 😁 Im thinking about adopting a tegu although I've done research myself I think it would be cool if you guys did a care video on them keep up the good content I love yall
All I can say is nothing quite prepares one for a tegu. Kevin from NERDS have videos about monitor behavior. Each one is different and well honestly Emily and Ed lucked out with Ally they aren't all that chill. My boy Damascus is quite food driven I've had him since a hatchling he's a sweetheart, but to get there takes a lot of work. I would suggest working on sharing their space from the get go. Put your shirt in the enclosure with them and just work on creating that bond. If you are getting a larger tegu just know you might end up bleeding more from the start vs raising a younger one. They are also incredibly smart my boy pushes out the glass and has learned to do so even with a lock. Anyways they are a ton of work and very with behavior. You can also check Rose city Reptiles they talk about tegus specifically and they breed them. I also suggest being wary if the animal never saw you outside they can become defensive because you look completely different outside than inside. To prevent this i would handle my tegu outside over a bin and when he got bigger we would do excursions with a harness on (went from a fully adjustable ferret harness to a fully adjustable cat harness). Anyways I wish you luck and hope you find what you are looking for. If they do a video here about diet that would be cool but there should always be a disclaimer on behavior since every animal varies and they need soooo much space the 8ft enclosure we have we still feel isn't big enough so we are going to upgrade from even that thats the minimum size for these guys.
Awh, poor Sable, she was such a pretty hog. Hopefuly you have many great baby snakes this year, can't wait to see how sassy some turn out! Also, maybe you could name one of the baby hogs after Sable!

It has probably helped or they wouldn't still put the sweaters on, but she's been plucking for so long that I very highly doubt that she's gonna get a full coat of feathers back
Is THAT why my hognose male isn’t wanting to eat and is glass surfing constantly?!? Cuz he wants the ladies? Ive been checking temps/humidity obsessively trying to figure it out!
Hey Emily and Ed! I really hope you see this, its really important. In indiana, I heard a Walmart found a python abandoned on a shelf in the store. They are looking for an experienced home for this snake. I'm sure you can look this up and find some information on this, like the certain location. For anyone wondering, at 15:00, when Emily says the h she means the hemipenes, which is the male reproductive organ for many ( but not all) reptiles.
Ed being a supportive Dad to his male snakes. Lol
Hognoses are such silly snakes, definitely my favorite species of snake
Being a bird-nerd I was so darn distracted by Cheyanne 😆 She's so adorable!
Don't even joke about getting her a boyfriend, I would LOVE to see her being a mamma! 🥰
Emily and Ed YAY SHE DID YAY
Shayan where’s my treat???
Your guy's breeding videos is the reason I'm passing the genetics unit of my college bio class. Tysm
I’m sooo exited to see all the baby hog noses hatch they are my favorite especially lavender I hope their babies are just as beautiful as them also so sorry for the lose of your snake Emily and Ed
Lavenders?
@@gabriellawatt7135 yes ty my brain didn’t work for a second I usally know all of them I geuss i just kinda went into a different headspace
My condolences for your loss; I can only imagine that being a bit rough, regardless of how many reptiles you guys have T^T
But there's a lot of pretty pairings happening~! Here's to hoping they're successful and that you get a TON of pretty babies
I almost spit my coffee out when Emily said, oh she wants the "H"!
Also so sorry to hear about Sabel.
Me too and when she pulled out one of the caves and it had what j assume is sperm and she said “he missed” 😂 not sure why no one I’ve seen mentioned that
Edit: it was Audrey and Bueller at 19:01 lol
First 15 seconds and they roasted that parrot. My first impression of this channel😂
I found your channel early 2019, and I literally get so excited for baby season! All the love and luck to all your pairs for a successful and bountiful clutching...is that a word? hahaha Can't wait! Sorry about Sable..its always hard to lose a loved one, especially when you are away. My kiddos and I send lots of love
This is my favorite time of year!! Can’t wait to see babies!!
Oh my I remember I watch you when I was like 8 with one of my old friends when you would help and watch snakes hatch in your kitchen you have come sooo far you tought me so much thank you!!❤❤
YAY FOR BABIES!!! I'm so excited for eggies... and I'm so sorry to hear about your snek loss. It was a joy to see our favorite Birb! I've missed Cheyanne with it being too cold to bring her to work.
As someone in animal science I appreciate that you used linebreeding. Proper terminology win!
I haven’t watched them in months! I’m glad them and the zoo are still good! You have came a long way guys :)
Yay! Breeding season is so exciting. The green anoles around here are absolutely going wild this week! Hope your pairings are successful!!
Every morning watering the vegetable beds is just a wave of green, brown, crested brown, and striped anoles booking it into the grass. Every gripable surface outside is a display patch for males...except the crested browns...they use my aloe gourd plants to fight.
Funny enough we use the same thing with the barometric pressure drop when betta breeding. It probably is a thing for fish breeding in general.
Sebel was one of my favorite snakes, makes me really sad to know she passed. I wish we knew why, but I understand that mistakes happen. Wish you guys the best. And hopefully we get some good babies.
Emily :turtle bird!
Cheyene :stop please Emily
I just love the size difference between the male and female hognoses it’s crazy to me that the males are soo much smaller. I’m sorry for your guys loss it would have been nice to know what happened but it doesn’t make the loss any easier.
I absolutely love seeing Cheyenne in those sweaters! I’d love to know if it’s helped with her plucking at all.
They haven't updated on that in a while, but I think it has helped.
It has probably helped or they wouldn't still put the sweaters on, but she's been plucking for so long that I very highly doubt that she's gonna get a full coat of feathers back
Oh, is that what they're for? I assumed they were there to keep her warm and protect her naked skin
Is THAT why my hognose male isn’t wanting to eat and is glass surfing constantly?!? Cuz he wants the ladies? Ive been checking temps/humidity obsessively trying to figure it out!
insert the mor you know meme:
So excited to see all the beautiful babies that are a result of the pairing’s
Hey Emily and Ed! I really hope you see this, its really important. In indiana, I heard a Walmart found a python abandoned on a shelf in the store. They are looking for an experienced home for this snake. I'm sure you can look this up and find some information on this, like the certain location. ( I believe its in Bloomington, Indiana ) but I could be wrong. I really hope you can help this poor snake! No pressure :D
Dotty is like “AM SPEED!”
