Temu gave me a budget to make another video about automotive products. I decided to use it for RC cars, because those are still cars, right? This worked out way better than I expected, getting 5 cars and TONS of accessories for more than a single Traxxas car costs.

I know how to use a pocket knife John Ross. Something about using the full name makes this funnier
The way that kid was holding that knife proves he does NOT know how to use a pocket knife John Ross.
I too, know how to use a pocket knife John Ross. Lol
That might have to go on a t-shirt.
lmao that was the funniest of this video hahaha
I'm gonna say it, you could have bought two rtr 2wd Slash's for $229 each and have something with a huge parts availability and future upgrade ability to 60+ mph and they are actually good enough to race on major tracks in the spec Slash class straight out of the box. Or even a pair of 1/16 scale 4wd Slash's for $199 each
Inverting controls on the return lap breaks my brain...
I don't know where he got $600 for a slash, the 2wd is $200 - $250 with everything but AA batteries, the 4wd is $300 - $350 with everything but AA batteries
I have this and upgraded the gears. It absolutely zips now haha
I think JR is referring to the 4WD Slash
Ya I agree with you guys
While I have nothing against budget rc cars if it get new people in to the hobby great. But do keep in mind if you break something on your 100 temu rc car you'll most likely be buying another 100 rc car where as you break an arm on your $239 slash 2wd. Your local hobby shop and $20 bucks later your back in business. Just food for thought. That being said welocome to an amazing hobby.
Not very many $20 parts for a slash. Most are around $5 to $10 just like even hobby grade R/C cars! The kits are expensive but replacement parts are cheap!
Back in the day I had lapped the field twice 15 minutes into the main and broke a $0.15 part. Out of the race for such a cheap part but it was my fault... I wrecked!
The sass! 'I know how to use a pocketknife John-Ross'!
I thought he said “f-in knife dumba-s”😂😂😂
A great place to run those RC cars is a Skate Park. Lots of places to jump them...and a lot of fun! Go early in the morning because most skaters aren't morning people and you will have the place to yourself. 🙂
13:55 You could add the multi-light system to the drone, and fly it at night! People will claim that they saw a UAP*!
* Unidentified Aerial Phenomena
Great vid. Love the JR reviews cheap stuff series.
that red plug is a Deans Plug, been around since the 80's.
The best part of this video was Scott's face trying to open the box at the very beginning.
The side eye was perfection.
You know what they say, "You get what you pay for"
Scott just had the "Best Christmas Ever" in May... I'm pretty sure you just made top 10 all time memories for that kid LOL...
The best part of this Reel is reading the COMMENTS!
PRICELESS!!!
I live on a lake and have several remote boats that's really fun too
I’ve always wanted RC boats… just not good place to use them around here 😬
Hoovie’s new pond 😊
@@WatchJRGoyou could always just POMB. 🤷🏻♂️
Last time I played with an RC car it still used Ni-Cd's.
That was some time ago!
My boy looked constipated lmfao don’t strain brotha
More fiber or Metamucil!
“I know how to use a pocket knife, John Ross.” Lmao
Sounds like a veiled threat
Interesting - I think for a lot of people to "get in to RC" these are a great option - if you become a RC junkie then it's not a waste if you don't then you're not out several hundred bucks....
When I was in Bosnia a couple of guys and I bought RC cars to modify and play with in our down time. One night I was playing with mine in between barracks and my buddy came by be cause he had left his on by mistake and it was moving on his shelf because it was the same frequency as mine. Good times.
JJRC makes some of the toughest RCs on earth. My Q130 lasted FOREVER before I toasted both the ESC and motor on 3S in water. Now it's a parts car lol but it was amazing how terrible I drove (full throttle into a cinder block, wrapped around a pole at full speed, etc) and it never actually broke till I fried it! (User error lmao)
The look on the kids face straining to open that box.......lol
I loved my tamiya midnight pumpkin rc truck back when I was a kid. Good times.
Yes!!! Tamiya was the best of the best when I was a kid too hahaha 🤣.
I think I might be showing my age now lol 😂.
my first RC was a Tamiya Grasshopper using a 4 channel tower hobbies plane radio. around 1984-5.
"I KNOW HOW TO USE A POCKET KNIFE JOHN ROSS!" has JR getting scolded by an adult vibes that i absolutely love! You got TOLD John Ross! Now go to your room! No dessert for you tonight!
I bought a 2wd Slash with a battery and a nice charger/balancer 2 years ago for $300
Congrats on the 400k subs brother!! 🎉🎉🎉
Love the RC stuff. You should look into RC skydivers (free fall, deploy, steer, etc.) and RC paramotors.
Geo tracker Shirt is top Notch!
Nice haul. A lot of fun for not a lot of money. ❤
They cost alot but they are way better!
And from R/C car enthusiasts, they're cheap! Traxxas that is.
The Drive RC's (JJRC Q117-AB) look similar to the Haiboxing RCs we have. Parts availability from Amazon is plentiful and quick. If you have a 3d printer there are tons or parts out there to repair them even cheaper.
My man I've been looking at them 👍
That's really a good value for what you got 👍👍
I’m surprised you haven’t done anything for your truck bed. You could do a video on some DIY bed lining
Nice to have a plug and play car. My RC 10 was like building an actual car from the frame up!!!
yep, took me 4 hours my first time back in 1986. ( could build one in about an hour after that ) I still have a RC-10T from the 90's and a nitro RC-10GT from the mid 90's.
I got the Drone, Camera Car, the fast RC car and tool kit. We'll see 1) how long it takes to arrive. 2) are they as much fun as they looked?
We are here out in the county. All of Kansas is out in the country. lol..
All the antique RC cars I got at garage sales. At least one of them is a original with the box and probably worth way more than I paid for it. Another one is is a all wheel drive version but I broke the front chain drive eventually. They both have the oil filled shocks and aluminum frame tub setup. They probably were just sorta old when I first got them, have to look them up again to remember what they are but they were pretty fast and fun to play with.
is the 4wd with chain a Kyosho Optima ? I had one of those back in 1988. The only hobby grade 4wd I can think of with a chain. Most were shafts and on road were belts.
@@batsonelectronics It's in the shed and it's pink, I don't remember the brand but pretty sure it was chain drive. That was close to when I got it. It had a box with a flip down lid and handle that could hold it and spare parts and tools. Looked like it was raced. We don't have any of the indoor and outdoor tracks and shops we had when I got them anymore.
I don’t know what hobby shop you go to, but the only way you’ll spend $600+ on a Slash is to get the Ultimate Edition. Every slash I’ve gotten has cost 3 or less, and you buy a name brand for repair abilities
I feel like I've entered some kind of alternate universe!
Whoa.... YOU'RE here? That's hilarious!
Check out Arrma RC cars. Cheaper than Traxxas and are extremely good too and way better than Temu garbage.
Are these good for beginners like myself?
Watch JR go is RC. Watch out Kevin Talbot!
The one looks like has castle motor in it without the logos🤔
adding cherry bombs might make things a little more exciting,
Hey JR, how about the RC construction vehicles? You can spend a ton of money on the bigger ones. And even more money on the big planes.
🇺🇸👍 Looks like fun on the cheap !!!
Good Evening John Ross
Hey Douglas! 🍻
Where did you get that insane $600 price from?? A BL-2S Slash is 329.95, a VXL $399.95 both brushless and 4x4… Remember you get what you pay for and parts availability is a big deal..
The 2wd trucks are even less... And almost stupid simple to repair.
@@svpracer98 Exactly!! My son has a XL-5 Rustler as his first and even bought it himself for $169. He is always doing something with it and he is 10.
You should relate them to 1/16 scale so the latrax prerunner would be comparable. Not the 1/10 scale
Old school late 1980's RC guy here. I've been out of the scene forever, but back in the day it was Tamiya, Kyosho, Losi and Associated Electric RC-10's. Traxxas was considered the cheap brand. What ever happened to these other companies?
They all still exist but are owned by horizon hobbies now losi and associated.
Kiosho is it's own company still but Traxxas came along way. But still not top hobby grade racing gear.
Pretty much still the big 3 now, Losi, Associated, and Kyosho now but there's some new companies making a splash too! Tamiya now is only toys.
I've tried several of these "Cheaper" RC cars over the years not from Temu but they are usually pretty fast but man they do not last, the differentials though that DRIVE one looks like a direct clone of a redcat... that might be worth playing with it. But if you go into it knowing most is throw away after a few hours they are fun.
hobbyking was cheap for years best deals on stuff
Everytime I go there it’s somehow $100 and I just wanted a battery or two 😳
They used to have some insane deals on great batteries and speed controls!
My experience with buying multiple RC cars is I always get them with the same frequency do the remotes all clash
That's a thing of the past anymore!
Traxxas Bandit VXL is your 100+ MPH car. I'll sell you a complete, but basket case one if you want to try and figure out why it snaps it's own axles.
Isn't it the XO-1, the 4wheel drive street car that was the first of their offerings to go 100mph? The axles are plastic, so mip axles or the Traxxas upgrade kit. "I bet it's just the rear axles that break" the right rear, because mine always did, and the VXL esc is a bad, because it's only 60amps and the motors are 4pole 3500kv 35mm x 60mm cans, they need more juice like 80amps minimum, but 100 to 120amps is great. How you gear them also has a effect on your speed and torque.
So much fun, can I come over to play?😂
Wow JR, you brought out all the Slash-boiz in the comments lol.
Well what did you expect?? Especially when the price he gave for the Slash was waaaaaaaaaayyy off…
@@lordnikon1213 Not sure what I expected, to be honest. I've never been in love with a product enough to vehemently defend it in a UA-cam comment section.
Dirty Harry the dead pool movie had a car chase with an RC car, a twist on car chase.
Nice
Somehow, I end up here every single day.
Love this 💯
Take 'em to the outdoor skatepark/dirt track like they do here in Aurora. 8:15 reminds me of my big brothers 'sidewinder' which he never let me drive 😂 Great value, slave made. Don't forget the last part
Colorado or Illinois?
TEMU aka China's version of Amazon but with a lot less quality.
5th is better than 6th, I guess...
I have to ask this! - "your sister" - is she Eric's wife Scot's mother or is she the sister with the white Toyota Station Wagon? If my memory serves me right I'd say it was the sister with the station wagon. It's been a while though!
A good day at work
Temu Radios, Dash Cams, and so on would be interesting
Let's goo
Yeah buddy!! 🍻
I paid $200 for a battery powered rc car in 1979 or 80. I'm not sure what the inflation calculator would translate that to in today's dollars but I'm guessing a bunch. It was tough and very fast though.
If in 1979 you purchase an item for $200.00. Then in 2024 that same item would cost you $863.77. Cumulative rate of Inflation, 331.9%
Sorry Mate! I worked it out on the US Inflation Calculator. All Prices are based in USD 💵
About $1000
@@PaulyDDownunderThat's a convenient tool isn't it? I gave the car to one of my nephews that I'm sure didn't appreciate what I gifted him.
Heck yeah! Fun for all ages.
Well Temu is smart because I’m over here shopping.
Hey
Yo George! 🍻
Traxxas may be reaching out, because they suck like that. They harass RC channels and tell them they will sue them if they use their names without a Traxxas vehicle in the video, just be aware it's possible
John Lumbert has so much money wish he was my dad
Close to 1st?
Pretty dang close!
Yo
🍪
🥇 boom!
Temu 1/4 of the price 1/4 of the size
Yo 'sup
🥉 coming in hot!
I have temu RC cars.
I'd prefer to never see or hear about Temu ever again. The ads are always in my face on every single platform despite never using it. Very annoying and just makes me want to continue never using it.
Have you ever used it tho? I’ve honestly been impressed with not only receiving mostly exactly what I ordered but the quality itself has not been terrible. I even got an entire touchscreen car radio system with backup camera for $12 no shipping fee. It’s still Chinese junk and anything with actual purpose will be American made or atleast from an “American” brand. But Temu definitely has its place for cheap Chinese crap
Gullet
Average $500 to $1000
For Traxxas.
😅
Always been overpriced.
NO MORE CAFFEINE for the kiddies.......
Is anybody seeing what I'm seeing in that first black and orange controller? 😇
m-E-m
Buddy, you pay for what you get. I guess you don't understand that
i don't wanna grow up cause baby if i did...
Dude, when was the last time you went into a hobby store? Traxxas and Arrma both have 1/10 short course trucks (what the slash is) that you can take out the door for under $300.
Traxxas even has an on-road offering for under $250.
Love seeing more R/C content on UA-cam, but please do your homework.
Awful junk. Just listen to the gears crunch away.
Any real hobby grade rc makes this seem terrible. After they are all broken in a month, buy something better.
Even the "tools" last 2 screws, and strip. The stainless bolts have the hex off center on some.
Temu sends out leftovers nobody else can sell.
Sad!
Traxxas R/C cars cost a lot of money? I can't stop laughing! Look into true hobby grade race worthy R/C cars! My last car I had about $1,100 in it and the kit was almost $500!
Another $550 in electronics plus a tote I carried around with me that was full of tires (roughly another $600 to $900). The Traxxas is cheap comparatively speaking but generally would lose a race everyday!
traxxas is for the masses... get a race kit from tekno or xray
Yup, at 400 to 500 a pop, with no electronics and another 200 to 400 or more for good electronics and then all the $$$$ in upgrades, plus you have to assemble it yourself. It snowballs when you start buying those brands. They are really good kits, with all aluminum CnC milled parts, but at almost 1500 for a 1/10th scale after you'er all said and done, then all of a sudden, buying a cheaper mass produced rc doesn't seem so bad. So when you break something, and you will, it doesn't cost you $$$ to fix the thing.
@@mase9975 Not to mention a cart of tires and batteries and a good radio!
Unsubbed bc Temu promo
No no no. Don’t buy that crap. Go buy hobby grade. Soon as they break you either can’t get parts or have an extremely hard time getting them. You don’t always have to buy new. There are TONS of great RC cars on marketplace and all over for a fraction of the price. Plus the ability to walk into any hobby shop to get parts. All this that your showing is pure junk. If it feels cheap it is cheap. Only good thing was the ramp. And that’s still ehh.
Least the kiddo had a blast. That’s really all that matters.
Though I appreciate JR is trying to be a good friend letting the Demon Semen be part of the video but he's really annoying and makes it impossible to enjoy the video. Watching this makes me realize just how annoying I was at his age and I think that's what makes me 😬 cringe
Arrma all day
No one enters the RC hobby purchasing a $600 car. It wasn't necessary to mention the expensive brand.
china crap, Traxxas is Cheaper and u can fix it when it breaks!
The double introductions are lame af.
Why would you push this Chinese crap dude???? TRAXXAS ALL DAY!!!!
Sorry don't want an RC car
too many nos for that kid. peel the plastic. build the track. who cares. its just temu stuff.
