I happened to catch this on PBS back in 1999 and literally fell in love with the story, production, and acting, they showed it in 4 parts over a month, I finally bought the DVD to watch in over a decade and fell in love all over again, it's such a wonderful book and film :)
I finised season 1 of Downtown Abbey last night, took a few episodes to get into it but really ended up enjoying it!! The costumes.. so incredible. A feast for the eyes as you say! I'd definitely like to try Wives and Daughters now.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Downton has been an emotional and awesome ride for me. Can't believe season 6 is almost done! I hope you enjoy Wives and Daughters!
I remember watching this years ago and then reading the book about two years ago. I just bought the Elizabeth Gaskell DVD collection for my Dad at Costco and this was on it I believe. Also, I always look forward Period Drama Monday!
Hi Kate, Francesca Annis is actually a very very fine actress that was not only in Little Dorrit but most important, she is in a wonderful series named "Lillie", in which she depicts Lillie Langtry, an actress that became mistress of Edward VII. Love it! (I love period costuming) :)
Oh I remember the actress from Tess of the Durbervilles, one of my favourite period dramas! I still really want to read this novel and then I can watch the film:)
Hi! I’m late to this video, I hope all is well with you during these times! But, I wanted to know. On the shelf on my right your left, at the top is a book. The color is like a light pink l, and it’s a thick book. I wanted to know the title and author?
Hi! So I'm having trouble figuring out which book you're referring to - I think because it might look pink on camera but actually isn't. Is it the first book on the top shelf? That's East of Eden.

Probably my favorite period drama.
Francesca Annis was luminous in Lillie, a miniseries about Lillie Langtry. I highly recommend it.
It was a delightful movie! Thx for recommending it!

I love this one too. I really so want to rewatch it now! Oh Elizabeth Gaskell
I think Roger Hamley is what makes this movie for me - he's just kind of perfect. :)

V good series. I thought Preston was a bit unfairly treated.
I love this drama!! Justine is so beautiful, i like the male actor too.... BUT I was not 100% satisfied since they didn't share even one kiss....
