Ill be glad to see georges inline 6 together and see it on the dyno
It is in the works! But the clients' engines come first.
I have a 4.3 vortec v6 I'd like to get rebuilt trying to go little bigger with the cam just haven't decided on which cam to go with
Good afternoon Nick & George, Another 440 6 pack on the Dyno, I love it, I'll take a 6 pack to go!!! Let her rip!
Bottoms up! Enjoy the show, sir.
The best car channel on UA-cam right here
Much appreciated.
AMEN.
Yep! All content and no fluff.
Absolutely!!!
Nah
Ive been watching Nicks Garage for many years
Lois is my wife this Mike. The center cab on the passengers side has a air leak where the distributor hooks up to. I have a 72 CUDA with a 440-6 with 525hp I love my 3x2 Holley carbs too! You have a great channel too! But small air leaks can really change how they run!
It's a legendary throwback Ain't no petrol head alive that'll chat smack about a 440 With a six pack High performance from back in the day at the track it blew the competition away Designed with quarter mile times in mind and quarter mile times to slay It's got a roar straight outa the jungle That's the Dodge rumble Just listen to it being built by Nick there ain't a stumble Another fabulous powerplant on Nick's Garage By their fans and clients alike they are held in high regards Waow it sounds boistrous when Manny gives it the large It's a classic block with some wise mods from stock Until it's fully dialled in Nick won't stop Leak free is always great to see after a few runs near full velocity Well deserving of some rhyming reciprocity A Dyno that is temperamental won't give Nick and Manny a crisis that is existential It's Nick's Garage where the skills are residential and experience is their best credential Thanks Nick Word to yo brother George Big ups Manny
Not all that
Nick, you are tenacious. I hope you get that 400hp. Irregardless, you built a solid and reliable engine. Your talents are legendary. Thanks for another great video.
I wish Nick's Garage was closer to me. I am about to purchase an A12 Roadrunner & I would like Nick to make sure the 6bbl is running properly.
Shortly after high school, I bought a used 1970 Challenger R/T SE with a 440 Six Pack, 4-speed and a 4:10 Dana 60. It was silver with a black vinyl top and the regular R/T hood, no shaker scoop. It ran quickest at the drag strip with the water temperature at the highest, using a 195F degree thermostat. When I bought it, it had an Edelbrock CH-4B intake with an 850 Holley on the engine and the cast iron Six Pack intake was in the trunk, with the carbs. I rebuilt the carbs and put an aluminum Edelbrock Six Pack intake on the engine.
Gotta love the sound of the 440 six pack. Thanks Nick & George!
Think of it this way. The 440 six pack was rated at 390 hp from the factory. You are at 396 with almost everything stock. Its a win.
Supposedly, on the street, a 440 Six Pak could beat a Hemi, cuz it had more torque and mid range. The Hemi had more top end.
Thanks you guys great Dino session one six pack to go for a quarter mile picnic that's what we painted on my friends 70 Dodge Super Bee 440 6 pack car back in high school 1974 that was a great car thanks again for the great engine
With factory cast iron exhaust manifolds...i wouldn't be worried much...but i never ran them much. Just went to headers, bigger cam, gears, & converter, used a pinion snubber and soft compound wider tires. Hey...Great if you wanna keep it stock, i get it. Bravo Nick for hunting for the extra. 👍🏻🇱🇷
Love 440 6 packs
aint nothing like a monday watching the most awesome u-tube channel on this internet a good old rebuilt 440 six pack with a ton of hp and a ton "o" torque. you are the best nick.
I know the new single carbs, and fuel injection work better, but I just have a soft spot for multiple carbs, which is probably a throw back to my youth, but I just love the sound, and the look, no matter what manufacturer. 👍
My 440 6 barrel looks identical to this one. Except I’m running aluminum heads and stock valve covers. Also have a 484 purple shaft cam. Way to go Nick.
Power/torque are right where you'd expect based on the build. Nice 440 !
Windows updates always happen when one could do without but Nick & Manny handled like pro's. That is one sweet 440 six pack Nick you and Manny had it running just right and hey top video once again George. Till next time have a beaut week all.
Dr. Nick, you have the best job on Earth, cheers..
Another great dyno pull , showing respect to the engine and not getting crazy with it. True professional
We have 94 octane here in Ontario Nick but I understand what you did with the gaskets I did the same thing to my motor I switched it back after I changed it to a single plan intact and a 950cfm
Big difference in power great video guy's
Like a fine Swiss watch, Nick and Manny work together in sync to get the job done. I like Nick’s dogged determination to get what he knows that engine is capable of out of it. Great show as always!!!! Great week, all!!!!
Evenin Mr George an Mr Nick! Have a Great week!! Run 440!!
Thanks! You too! Run 440! ❤️
Nick you could do this every day and I would not get tired of it. Just need some coffee and some free time.
I like 6 packs, all 6 packs.
Right on.
The new charger they are calling a six-pack with the cylinder. It's not for me
Even Natural Light? 😂
@@457rickIts not for anyone, except EPA stuffed shirts.
So do I especially if one says Leinenkugals on them 😂.
Beautifull engine. Diablo Motors in Lakemba Sydney Australia sold brand new 440 crate engines in the 70s $500 each
I bought a new 440-6 crate short block in 1976 for 600.00 dollars back then.
That was a lotta money then.
$500 in 1975 is the equivalent of $2,795 today
Awesome running 440 good job Nick and Manny wouldn't mind having that one in one of my trucks keep them coming and see you Monday
I can't wait to get the engine in my 70roadrunner....a 451 with an 88mm turbo .
The 6 BBL makes the sweetest sounds. This is a treat! Thank you Nick, Manny and George.
When it's in the car breathing in the RAM AIR, it might see 410 or 415 HP!
GREAT SHOW NICK AND MANNY! Love that Dyno!
Dreaming. You dont Get 20 hp from ram air. This motor is a turd.
Naw, in the car it'll have more heat in the engine, the alternator and PS attached, and an air cleaner.
@@user-ef3hf1et3tSpoken like an arrogant youth. What have you built lately?
I always know when there’s an engine on the dyno it’s going to great! You never give up , trying to squeeze that engine to achieve its potential.
Another beautiful 440 6 pack put together and tuned by Mopar Master Mr. Nick !!!!!! Beautiful sound and horsepower !!! But I have to 2nd Motions with others be Super Sweet to see George's Super 6 on the Dyno !!!!!!
when you think how far and fast Dodge and Plymouth developed from 1965 to 1971 - mere six years - just IMAGINE where they would have been if given another four years to continue on that meteoric trajectory - we often FORGET that a STUPID OIL EMBARGO absolutely MURDERED the entire MUSCLE CAR PROGRAMS starting in 1972 when horsepower started to be restricted ( car insurance was also skyrocketing as "racing" accidents and deaths piled up ) - compressions ratios dropped from 10.1 to 8.5 to save on fuel ! - what a HORRIBLE event to befell such a majestical and NEVER to be repeated era in car manufacturing - sure we have had some feeble attempts with the most recent efforts but NOTHING can bring back that absolutely ECLECTIC PERIOD of unprecedented muscle car development - my FIRST car at the age of 16 was a 1972 Cuda 340 4-barrel - POSI-Trak REAR END - PISTOL GRIP 4-SPEED SHIFTER - the clutch throw on that car was incredible - my left thigh to this day is LARGER than my right simply from dropping that clutch - it was a real MEATY and LONG THROW - I clearly recall driving in July - warm evening - windows rolled down - Radar Love playing on the radio turned up beyond maximum - the secondary highway road was dimly lit - rare to see any cars that late at night - your hair was blowing all around your face - you could smell the farm fields in the crisp dew air - the headlight illuminated the center line marker - I dropped it into 4th gear and opened it up - it roared to life and the speedometer kept climbing - over 140 mph - if a cop was there my license was gone but I kept the pedal down and was literally flying down that black tarmac - I drove like that for about 20 minutes and entered into another dimension - you stop thinking and you just experience it all - saviour it - memorize it - you really do become your car in moments like that - for those of you who can relate you know what I mean - for those who can't - well - some things are just beyond a price tag - the front end used to lift slightly when you hit those speeds - you were sitting low down in those bucket seats - sucked into the bucket with the momentum of the car galloping forward - you could hear the exhaust echoing back every time some roadside building appeared - NOTHING sounds like THAT - she was purring at 140mph - probably I could have pushed her harder but everything was already flashing by and the engine seemed to have found its high revving sweet spot - working but not whining about it - I can vividly recall that even now - you NEVER forget those moments where the definition of FREEDOM has never felt so REAL and within your grasp ... in the end I had to sell the Cuda as adult life grabs you and yanks teenager you away - the eventual speeding tickets that later arrived didn't help the cause either - do I regret it? - not really - I feel so thankful to have experienced owning a genuine Cuda and opening it up on those lonely highways late at night with the music playing loud - NOTHING can replace that
Been subscribed for two 🎉
Love the old stuff ❤
Still an awesome engine!
Great stuff, totally admire the skill, knowledge and love Nick has for these awesome old school engines :)
Thank you!
Two true friends nice to see😊
The six pack is the way to go.
Hey Nick, another 440 Wedge 6-pack, i have never saw one in real life! great video!😀👌👍👍✌
Nick your the best
A high-compression big-block with a lumpy cam and almost legal exhaust sounds great and sure is fun, unless ya gotta drive it every day in suburban traffic jams! Pump gas today pings when ya wash parts with it! Can't even get 94 around here. Even Sonoco premium is down to around 92 and everything has 10% ethanol.
Pings when washing parts !!!!
Gotta use THAT ONE !!!
My car made 800hp to the wheels on 91 octane. Drive it everyday anywhere. Come into the present. Oh and with ethanol it makes over 900. 🤣
I run 50/50 ethenal free 91 and VP-110, 10/75 comp., never look back!
i run 91 on a 11 to 1 comp motor and its fine no pinging
Great build Nick, You're AWESOME,
Another great episode. I learn much from watching these.
Nick, You Have a GREAT Crew. Very Loyal People on your Staff. Keep up the Fantastic work. Phillip Daigle
Much appreciated.
I know what I'm watching tonight! Thanks Nick!
Nicks had more 440x6 packs on the dyno then what all came out of the factory damn! that's a lot off 440x6'S and more hemis than you can shake a stick at keeping the mopar contingent happy you do it well if we shaved your head just above your ear we'd find a pentistar birth mark lol!
There's more coming Darren.
George excellent video an always!
Wow did that 440 bawg when he floored it
Hi all at Nick's garage has nick got a set of ram horn exhaust manifolds they came on the 426 wedge they would look awesome on the dyno keep up the great content cheers from West Australia
Or keep the .020 metal shim and just back the timing 2 degrees. My engine was build for 98 thru 101 but run 'no corn juice' 91 in it as a daily with the timing pulled back somewhere between 3-5 degrees, never had a single ping.
Smooth running 440 there, take a quart of oil out of the pan and you should see 400.
Great content as always....thanks Manny and Nick
hi good ep nick good thing manny was there .
You two guys make a good team!
Next time you are that close and can't get 400 just spend about 2 minutes breathing on the weather station for the dyno to bump the correction factor.🙂
thanks for the show guys
Our pleasure!
Salut Nick encore une belle mécanique que tu nous présente avec une expérience époustouflante bravo à toi et à toute l'équipe superbe David le français ❤
Cant have enough of them :)
Like potato chips!
Love those six packs.
Yasoo palikari. Tuned in from Adelaide Australia yet again
Yasoo! Thanks for being here, Steve.
I agree with Nick. It's not 400 until you see 400. Lol. You'll nail it. And we'll watch you do it.
I'd have to check my notes, but I believe the new replacement electronic Mopar distributor kit has full advance at around 4400 RPM. You can also adjust the vacuum advance can to limit it.
Very Nice! That said, Nick did minor port bowl work on the intakes... bet now he is wishing he had done the same to the exhausts!
I love you guys passion. Manny is a great guy to have around. Great personality & knowledge. Even though he's a Ford guy. 😉
I'll bet he can swim.
So awesome!! Thanks for sharing!!
Our pleasure!
Awesome, love the factory manifolds , headers suck, lol..
Center carbs looks dryer at Venturies
??????
Mannys vest jacket!! Keep thinking we might be seeing the exhaust manifolds getting it or the water pump motor 😮
Dana "60" Glass. Another great dyno blast with the 440 Six Pack or Six Barrel not knowing what car it's for. Thought you might have gone to at least 5,500 rpm, motor sounded like it wanted it. Were you able to reach 400 hp on your other tests? Always great to have Manny helping you. Can't wait for the W31 video.
I can give or take headers when I put a 360 in my 71 duster headers where cheaper than any stock exhaust manifolds I could find at the time
sounds beautiful
Thanks!
Nick hates headers!…….until he’s trying to find that last 6 horsepower 🤣
LOL. With headers it would put it in the 400 Plus range for sure.
I'm beggin fellas. I wanna see what that 6 does on the dyno after you guys are done with it. It's gonna be bullet proof!
Even though the overall A/F ratio was good, the center carb was lean and the outboard carbs are rich. It would arguably be better if the center carb was richer and the outboard carbs were a little leaner.
Nice engine.
That sure sounded like electrical arcing when those screens went out.
No such thing as too much 440 six pack !
Nick you should build your kowalski 440 as a 6 pack engine 👍
Great content thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching.
Time to try E3 spark plugs.
I've never been fond of headers since My 1967 Belvedere lost them in front of a Michigan State Police car,and he ran over them....cost me $400 to repair his cruiser !
I've mentioned it before , here in the states we have 91 as most common highest octane . I believe some states may have Sonoco , which can offer a higher octane . Agree the days of the 9.5 or 10.1 compression are in the past . Remember a 9 to 1 engine can run more initial timing and usually more advance using lower octane gasoline.
Scottinsoca
Aluminum heads can run 9.5-10 on 91.
We got 91 octane non oxygenated gas here, I don’t even know where to go to find any higher than that.
Manny, if nothing else solves the problem, try PERCUSSIVE MAINTENANCE... Pound on the CPU until it works properly. LOL
Alryt, something different
What is going on with the two vacuum activated carbs, looks like they are creating an over rich ( or super lean ) condition when they open. Look at the RPM dropping! Are we sure all circuits are feeding fuel?
I would be happy with it .
Honestly I would just love a four barrel just for simplicity. But if I want to visit the Gas Station every day I would rather have Dual Quads, Six Packs are for Beer Only. Lol!!
I saw a intake manifold with 4 carb 4 barrel on 426 wedge
You can see it's a genuine 6 pack due to the external balance damper.
twice i went into the lab of dyno,s im tellin you folks you must have big brass its wild
I remember when these were new, gas crisis hit, nobody wanted them. Wish I had the money and forethought to buy as many factory hot rods I could get my hands on!!!!!
What car guy doesnt dream of going back to 1974, and buying up every Hemi Cuda, A-12, L-88 Vette, and 427 Cobra he could find?
Dell engineers are spitting their coffee on the keyboard.
If you unhook the 6 pack and run the center carb you might find it lean.
Sorry i am a day late but thanks Nick and Manny 👍
Nasty old F-4 Shoe🇺🇸
Good to see you, Steve.
It needs the mopar purple shaft 440-6pk. cam, not a smaller than usual cam. I dig the loapy 6pk. cam idle and that engine don't have it. What was the customer thinking?
Nick, question about dyno testing with NO vacuum advance and in general timing the engines if I may.
I've been to local dyno's who are only interested in dynoing for WIDE OPEN THROTTLE and lock the advance for WIDE OPEN THROTTLE ONLY as they are only interested in total HP and have no interest in drive-ability.... obviously only for cars that will have high stalls and be drag raced.
Can you please do a video where you go through your timing of the car for best drive-ability and also great power... where you DON'T lock the timing at 32 degrees or close to that and tune the engine for drive-ability and power.
Reach out to super flow about the vibration pads they offer or you can use a sponge pad under the computer to help with the vibration problem
Now your gounf to gave to top this by putting your gemi on the dyno and installinf a tunnel ram that has interchanging top poeces to run different carb combos, singles , a six pack set up on the hemi should be interesting
