      @@lolscape6988 he forgot to say that apples aren't seed-constant or whatever the English term is, meaning only one in a hundred or something apple trees will give actually edible apples.
      EDIT
      I think it might actually 1 in 75.000
      2nd EDIT!
      but of course you can use the tree you get to graft a good apple onto.

      True, They are Most likely to turn out as krab apples. But, if you want gauranteed chance of edible apples, just graft a Apple tree.

    Heads up apple seeds are heterozygous meaning the tree that grows from them will be wildly different from the fruit on the original tree. You would have to take a cutting to get the same kind of apple or get very very lucky with the seeds.

      I’m lost as to how he does videos for so many things that don’t come true from seed. Sure, you’ll get an apple tree. They just might be gross, small or who knows what. Teach people to graft or be clear about what comes true from seed and what doesn’t. It’s pretty basic knowledge.

      I'm so glad someone else has said this. Jeff you are right grafting is the way to go if you were wanting a particular type of tree to produce the fruit that they're looking for.

    if you do grow your own apples...be sure to do grafting because you are most likely going to get a crabapple tree.

      @ThatGuy3DPrintz Рік тому

      What does that mean?

    • @jameswiggle
      @jameswiggle Рік тому

      @@ThatGuy3DPrintz most of your apples grow female flowers. it is hard to find a male apple tree so we use crabapple male pollen instead. If you plant an apple seed...you might get a crab apple tree. Grafting means you cut a 45 degree angle on a crabapple tree and you cut a 45 angle on a real apple sapling and you join them together...and the plant now produces real apples instead of crabapples...but do not sow the seeds.

    How long does it take to germinate? I tried but I gave up after a month should I have left them for longer?

    • @itxcrazybear5432
      @itxcrazybear5432 Рік тому

      I gave up at first, but here's my tips. :)
      1) Keep it in the fridge for 3-4 weeks
      2) After then, if it has germinated or the seed coat is cracking open, plant it in a pot with drainage holes. If it hasn't, you may need to wait up to 3 months.
      3) In a few days/weeks, the seed will sprout!!! water it daily or every other day, and make sure it gets as much sunlight as it can.
      I left three seeds in my fridge for about 3 weeks. When I checked up on them, 2 of the coats had huge cracks in, and one had a tiny crack. I planted all of them in different containers, one of them had died, but the other two had sprouted within 2 weeks. Right now, it has been a month and I have an apple seedling that is about over 2 inches tall, and is completely healthy!!! Good luck 👍

    Just as a little disclaimer, apple seeds do not grow into the type of apple that they come from. They like genetically scramble themselves, if you want a specific cultivar you need a cutting from an existing plant of that type to graft onto your apple tree.

    The thing with apples is that they do not grow true to seed. So you are most likely going to get a crab apple tree, despite the seed coming from the best apple you ever had. However, that doesn't mean your seedling is to waste. Just buy a graft of your favorite apple species and graft it into your tree once it is old enough. Same with avocadoes.
