I'm honestly getting demotivated from playing FGs because of the continuous trial and error with pads. Just can't seem to find one that ticks all boxes. The biggest problem is things like the d-pad (which is my biggest challenge) are particularly subjective, so you have to buy pads before you know whether you'll like them. Anyway, just a pointless little rant from me, sorry! But Rush, as usual, I appreciate what you do bro. Hopefully our endless quest of finding the right controller ends one day 😅
I'm in a very similar situation, I love all of the recent pads in some ways but there is something "up" with each one of them making me not feel 100% confident in them I'm actually back on the old Hori (switch version) at the moment as the controller feels good and has a good button layout. The dpad isn't the best but overall / at the moment I feel most comfortable on this pad
Have you tried the Hori Fighting Commander? I tried the Switch version first. It's great, but the shape makes it a little uncomfortable to hold for a long period of playing. The Xbox/PS versions of the Commander are much more comfortable, and I was able to get used to the D-Pads to the point to be able to do Wavedashes/Electrics in Tekken 8 on it. I'm a long time Fightstick player who just transitioned to Pad last year.
I really liked mine a lot (it was one of the ones with only 2 shoulder buttons) but I will say the shoulder buttons aren't the greatest--mine broke so that it was very loose, it's hard to describe but it moved around in a way it shouldn't and it finally broke mid-match a week ago, the right shoulder button no longer works consistently. Still, it's cheap enough and lasted long enough I'm not mad about it, and I legit love the DPad and button layout. I'm probably gonna buy another.
I got the hori pad a while ago and it had a big issue of diagonal inputs not coming out it was literally impossible to play with as I keep dropping all the quarter circle input had to return it. I just order this one after seeing the video hopefully it’s good like you say
Confirming the XBOX M30 works with the Brook Wingman FGC on PS5. Literally the best pad for fighting games too. Don't get the regular one, only the Xbox edition is compatible with the converter.
@@RushG yeah, the black and gray ones. The controller looks much nicer in that color scheme. Also, the internals on the new m30 are pretty neat and it would make for a good video to compare the two.
I bought the pad and I'm just waiting for it to arrive, but I'm afraid I won't get used to it, because from the videos and images, it seems to be very small, and my hands are a little big. What are your impressions about the size and comfort when playing?
You will notice it feeling small, it's not ideal but it's also not a major issue IMO. I've been able to adjust already and it feels okay. Call it a 7.7/10 for comfort 😅
In the video I stated that I like the button configuration on the 8bitdo. I can map the buttons exactly how I like them, the Saturn pad was much more limited regarding buttons mappings. Saturn pad has the better size and shape
I also play on fightpad but i only use 4 buttons on the front and the bumpers up top. Didint know anybody actually used the 6 buttons, or if they did they'd use a different grip to use 3 fingers on it. This seems like way too much work for one thumb lol Love these controller reviews, keep it up!
I've already tried it and reviewed it. I was really disappointed regarding the dpad, clunky and inaccurate. It felt like a huge step backwards from the previous model
This pad has a better Dpad, better button configuration, bigger and better shoulder buttons. Betop has a better size and design, I have a feeling the Betop dpad may last longer than this one. Time will tell.
Does anyone know if this new M30 still has turbo functionality that can be mapped, on the fly, without using an app, and for each button? Can you map keyboard keys to the buttons using the app? Or combinations of two keyboard keys to a single button on the controller? This is useful for saving and loading states when practicing games on a controller without having to use the keyboard.
@@theconsolekiller7113 I dont remember seeing any sort of binds or auto functions on this pad You may be able to set buttons to save and load options in the games you're playing yourself via the game options
@@RushG Appreciate the feedback. The previous M30 had turbo when you held down the little button with 3 horizontal lines in it and then pressed the button you wanted to map turbo to. You turned off the feature the same way. I havent been able to find any info if this model also supports turbo.
@@theconsolekiller7113 not sure if this applies to the new or old one, there seems to be some issues with this though if you're on Switch - manual.8bitdo.com/m30/m30_turbo.html
@@RushG Appreciate the feedback !! Im going to assume its the old one. I finally got a search to come up on google and it said that the Xbox version doesnt support turbo. If you do try it, hold down that button and press a button, and find that it does or doesnt set it to turbo, let me know. Im assuming its not supported. Im guessing because its official Xbox licensed now , they might consider that cheating.
Loved the original m30 so much i got both colors and i'm inclined to getting this one as well for its trigger buttons Just one question about the xbox version. Did you get stuck directions on this one? It's a common issue on the 2.4ghz m30 (happened on both of mine) so i wonder if 8bitdo has fixed the dpad for this newer version
Check out the Hori Fighting Commander OCTA. It's got 10 buttons as well, a circle D pad, as well as an analog stick. And like I said on the other video, it has software that lets you set each directional input's sensitivity on its own rather than having to have them all set to the same level, and the software also lets you map every button on it. Hell, one time I mapped the directons to the shoulder buttons to a weird hitbox fightpad hybrid. I am not exaggerating about how aweseme it is to set each directions sensitivity. Being able to fine tune each direction is something I think all future ifight pads should have. I no longer accidentally jump when trying to dash because I set my up-left and up-right to lower sensitivity than left and right. I have reduced the amount of accidnetal dps when trying to hadoken and hadoken when trying to dp by increading the down-left and down-right sensitivity. And I don't struggle as much when facintg left because I made the all the directions on the left a bit more sensitive than the ones on the right. It takes a bit to fine tune it to your liking, but it's worth the effort.
i had the OCTA and it's garbage, it has a factory flaw with the shoulder button where it will pop off after a while becasue it's held in place by a shitty piece of plastic, i advice people to avoid this controller at all costs
The other problem with the Octa is the more they keep making new variants of the Tekken 8 edition and street fighter 6 Octa pads , they add a right analog stick and the shoulder buttons and d pad are actually even more worse off then the original ps5 released hardware. Hori needs to make the traditional fighting commanders again
The old model (not the Hori OCTA)? If so yes, I currently have one that's had little to no use. It's just as good as the PS4 version IMO. Pretty much the same
Does the dpad feel soft (in a good way)? I ask cause I'm playing with the betop with the other dpad attachment and im missing diagonals and my thumb hurts when i play for a long time, i used to play with a ps4 controller before with no issues but i didn't like using rb and rt for heavy kick and punch
Id say it's similar to the Betop, maybe has a bit more resistance to it, only marginal. The dpad shape on the 8bitso is soft to touch and smooth. No sharp edges. The main point though is this pad is really small. Be warned 😅
Question: Do you know if this unofficially works with Android? The official specs don't list it; but, Android usually plays nice with wired controllers. It'd be cool to use with emulators and Xbox Cloud. I usually play emulators on a tablet propped up on a desk, so being wired doesn't matter. I could probably drill a hole through a phone clip where the USB port is situated and connect it to my phone on the go with a short C to C cable I have. It'd be small and convenient. I'm rambling, lol. Sorry.
Just so I understand, you're connecting the controller to the android device via the USB port? I have a Google Pixel 6a so I can attempt to connect the pad to it, USB C to USB C, is this what you're trying to achieve?
@@RushG - Yes, that's exactly it. I have other controllers that plug in to my Android devices over USB-C and work just fine; but, they're not this layout. Thank you in advance for testing it out. I appreciate it.
Hey Matt. Ive tried this and the pad does connect and I can input some things in specific games (skip menus and bring up options) but in terms of controlling stuff in game the buttons don't seem to do anything. Is there a specific android game I can try which is has gamepad support?

As far as Play Store games that can make use of every button your controller has; "Grid: Autosport" fits the bill, but it's $10 US and takes forever to install. I couldn't ask you to do that.
