Just could not resist! A Transcontinental is now sharing the garage with my Grand America. Making Life a Ride!
Sorry, but the basic black just doesn't work all by itself, it HAS to have the pinstripes added and then it looks absolutely AWESOME!
The arrival of this bike is absolutely groundbreaking for the motorcycle community. Well done.
Thanks a lot for this great compliment! We really appreciate it. 😊
I've been a lifetime Harley rider having owned over a dozen of them . In fact my parents owned a Harley dealership in the 70's and 80's so it's part of my DNA. I currently have two I purchased new not long ago , a CVO Limited and a Road King Special both of which I love. During Laconia Bike week 2021 I went to the BMW event site to ride a K1600B. They only brought the R18's but boy oh boy they way the R18 looked had me wondering. After the 20 minute test ride I couldn't get it out of my mind. Once the Transcontinental was announced I called the dealer and told him after another confirming test ride I would buy the first one they get. Another point of disclosure. I've also owned over a dozen new BMW automobiles so I have no question to the level of design and build quality BMW offers.
Hi William,
it is great to hear your story, it all sounds really great and impressive! 😍
We are glad you decided to order the new R 18 Transcontinental, we are looking forward to your feedback 🤘😉
Absolutely stunning.
I’m not a “bagger” guy but this is a substantial offering in the category.
To be honest the air cooled BMW has the most “honest” engine company to Indian or HD with their water cooled bikes. I hope like hell they enter the “King of Baggers” next year.
Thanks for your positive feedback😍❤️
I believe this will become the best platform for accomplishing a 48 state in 10 days ride. I love the Manhattan Matte. Well done BMW, a truly amazing machine. Soul and passion represented in a work of art that can be looked at but more importantly, experienced. Thank you.
Thank your for the amazing feedback! 😍 Will you go for a test ride? You can request here 👉 www.bmw-motorrad.com/en/shorturls/testride.html
These have got my motor running.
😍🏍
Absolutely great presentation❤
Who wants a 900 lbs of precision engineering and build quality, BMW tech, perfect suspension, every feature possible on an absolutely beautiful bike? Meh… mine’s black. 😊❤
Best new motorcycle on the market
We're glad to hear that! 😍
Can you get a center stand?
Excited to take this for a ride!!
💪💪🙌🙌
Is this model will launch in india??
Hello Tanuj, the new BMW R 18 models will be available worldwide from fall 2021. 😊
It’s a nice looking bikes. I just don’t see the American market gravitating to it. You have two American companies that make bikes like this already. Dealer network is very limited also. That being said competition is good for the consumer.
Thanks for your honest feedback and your estimation! We love the challenge and are excited to see what the future holds for us. 🤘
You just forget ONE important aspect with your "critizism" against BMW, buddy: BMWs are just much better bikes. And a lot of Americans like to have the way better product!
Cheers! These two American bike companies don't have bikes of such amazing quality and have no clue about such a fastastic BMW driving feeling.
@@bmwmotorrad I'm in the USA and just purchased two new BMW bikes, one being the R-18b. I can say it was a breath of fresh air doing business with BMW.
BMW FINALLY ADDED real fenders to the rear and the front that are there for more than just looks. My next question is How much more gasoline does the touring model hold over the puny tank on the first one? The first R/18 had enough to get you to the corner grocery and home. Obviously, a big displacement motor rquires a tank to give you some miles.
How comfortable is the seat on a long ride? I hope they put a nice seat on it this time. The R&D department is finally listening to the end users, and making one that is so much better than the first one they showed us. Im not just a critic here. I rode the wheels off of an R/51/3, and I like this new design. It looks like mine did back then, except mine was only a 500cc version of this one. If youve taken care of those two issues ive mentioned earlier, then you truly have a functional Bike that many will love as much as i loved my 50cc version.
500cc BMW didnt make a 50cc. Typing error on my part.
Thank you for your feedback! We always try our best to optimize our bikes to the needs of our customers. 😊 A 24-liter tank is installed and if you want to try the comfort of the seats yourself, you can request a test drive at the following link 👉 www.bmw-motorrad.com/en/shorturls/testride.html
Hi Harley-Davidson, Where r u? ;)
Seems to be a very nice Harley Davidson.
What happened with the K1600?
Where BMW wants to go?
Too much designers, too few engineers and even less bikers. What a chame.
My dream is for Harley (or BMW, or Indian) to build a 1931 Henderson inline 4 cylinder, but with modern parts. The Rocket III is one of the coolest modern motorcycles, with it's giant inline triple car engine. Harley could make a 2.3 liter inline 4 cylinder with VW style staggered (siamesed) bores, a super long 4.5" inch stroke, 3.25" bore, and they could make the engine sit lengthwise in the frame like the Rocket III or 1931 Henderson. There's a couple Henderson motorcycle videos on Jay Leno's channel, and his 1931 Hendersons have glassy smooth 55 horsepower inline 4 cylinder engines, better than any modern air cooled V-twin bike. A 4 cylinder engine is the superior engine, with lighter internal parts, and less strain on the engine at high speeds, or very low speeds. I know Harley will build a longitudinal inline 4, because I'm "manifesting" it in my reality haha.
This design is not new. In the early 50s, they made an R/51/3 that looks every bit like this one except for the massive displacement of 1800ccs!! My brother back in the mid 60shad an R/69/S that was a 600cc BMW So much power over mine! High compression twin 300cc pistons , ill attest it was no slouch on any highway!. My R/51 had an open driveshaft, and oil tub air cleaner, a two-up seat, and a 6 1/2 gallon tank on it even back then! Not to mention a hand shifter with a right hand bar 4 speed transmission..
Waiting for trike!!!!
Beautiful bike, I would get one.
💯😍
Display is really awesome
🙌🔥
Harley Davidson has inspired a lot of motorcycle manufacturers.
I am curious about when the C650GT will be updated. My C650GT has been riding for 6 years, the dashboard is backward, there is no reverse gear, the fuel tank is small, and the fuel consumption is high. These problems are solved, and I will buy another one.
It is hoped that adding a hybrid system can perfectly solve fuel consumption and reverse gear.
Not sure if you noticed, that the C 650 has recently been discontinued 😬
@@jeromeflohner8009 It was discontinued last year
Beautiful bike
Hello Сергей Захаров, the BMW R 18 B and R 18 Transcontinental are for sure two beautiful bikes. Check out their websites for more stunning details:

When will the Transcontinental First Edition be available?
Hi,
The market launch of the BMW R 18 B and R 18 Transcontinental will be in September 2021.
Best,
Your BMW Motorrad Team
GREAT About time Great move BMW!!!
TC looks great, hopefully the suspension is better than on the standard R18. Looks really good.
Put me on the preorder list
That's the spirit! 🤘
Absolutely stunning. I just picked up my First edition last week. Scrapped my last pennies and convinced the wife. Best decision ever. Well done on these bikes BMW. They actually are the best! Can't stop thinking about it and the next ride. Cheers 👌
Amazing, enjoy the time with your new bike! 🤘

Totally cool design…looks amazing!!
Finally a German Harley-Davidson.
With the failing sales of Harley why is BMW going after the shrinking Harley market? Are we to expect a BMW trike next?
Moto linda, parabéns para os engenheiros da BMW, a moto está sensacional. Que venha para o Brasil!!🙏
💯😍
Does BMW Motorrad plans to do a smaller engine version for these types of motorcycles?
"briefly" kann nicht als "kürzlich" verwendet werden, hier muss man "recently" verwenden
The bikes look beautiful. I hope the connectivity problems with the current R1250RT/TFT will be resolved and not carried over to this platform.
Thanks your feedback!

Good job BMW !!
We love to hear that! 😍
Next R18 roadglide
Did you guys balance the engine for these touring bikes? I test rode the classic and loved it for what it was - a modern take on old motorcycles with its quirks. It was fun to do a short ride and fight the bike every time I pushed or released the throttle but I can't imagine I or anyone would enjoy this on a touring bike. So - balanced or not?
Just a tad small to be a competitor imho.
NICE!!!
How are these bikes comfortable? You can't really stretch out with the engine sticking out unless you want to sit like frog in the wind. It forces you to sit straight up.
Can you remove the top case on the transcontinental?
I'd love the demo bike if you're into free word of mouth promotion. I live close to a bmw motorrad dealership too
So you’ve resurrected the CL
It's a reinvention of the R1200C.
Amazing Job BMW! You did it again!
I would love the R18 B with the chrome look.
BMW had a good chance to do something different..same design as Harley, only one difference..and that's the engine!! These models are all Harley look alikes. I don't like Harley, but they created a completely different adventure bike.. the Pan America, and didn't copy BMW, like other manufacturers. The new generations are not buying these type of bikes...What are/were BMW thinking??
That’s because the new generation is a bunch of safety obsessed pussies too scared to ride motorcycles at all or too scared to ride big motorcycles and the few that aren’t scared are too broke to afford touring models. Lol I agree this is just a complete knock off of an Electra glide. Watching these guys speak about the design process is so cringe considering they didn’t design anything. It’s like listening to your teenager tell a complete bs story when you know the actual truth Lol. This bike will be discontinued in 2 years.
The concept is not new. I owned a BMW R/51/3 built in 1953 thats the spitting image of this one except the 1800cc displacement and a few other things. Mine was only 500cc back then and 600cc was the top of the line. I love this design. Mine had an open driveshaft just like this one does, except much thinner. I hate the no fender look, and i appreciate these that do have fenders like mine did. I think it will be loved by many. If youre only interested in a crotch rocket , go somewhere else.
@@davidgreve1081 bmw did not make a Harley Davidson knock off batwing fairing in 1953. The bike in THIS video is just a knock off of a Harley batwing touring motorcycle which is what I ride not a crotch rocket. I’m sure this is a nice machine but it doesn’t change the fact that it is an ugly attempt at copying Harley. It’s ok if you are upset about that. You can still go buy one. But you won’t. And no will anyone else…which is why it will be discontinued in 2 years. Lol
@@Jay-bw3fl the only thing that makes it look Harley is the batwing and the fuel tank. The rest of it is a larger version of my bike that i rode , built in the 1950s. The first edition of it was ugly, for a lack of funtional front and rear fenders. Its the look of the new Harley Pan American. My friend , who is a BMW mechanic says it rides sweet,, but I dont like how it looks. The R/18 Transcontinental looks so much like mine did, my opinion of it is good. It has functional fenders and because of the large engine, its made tough to handle any road or highway youd want to ride it on. I think it will sell well.It will catch on and last for many years BMW has a history of making great touring Bikes. They claim this one is the sweetest one yet. BMW R&D Department promised me the seat is very comfortable. For serious riders, seat comfort is pretty important when youre riding Cross-Country. I say go for a long test ride and see just how the whole thing handles in traffic. Youve ridden long enough to know what to expect of a good Bike. Lets see if it rides as good as it looks.
Bmw awesome
Yet, BMW still can't get the Bobber Kit out for my R18.......the ONLY reason I bought one. I am so over the R18 already!
Too tiny for me....no room for my horse!

Man, those bikes are ugly and fat too, with the R18 Transcontinental at 942 lbs.
The weight factor is good on a long ride. When its on the road, you dont even notice the weight of it, and quite frankly, thats why it has a reverse gear to help you manouver it in tight or sloping parking positions.
345 KG! LBS (Lot of Bull Shit)
Guys, the T and B looks awesome, but I’m halfway through and frustrated. Nothing of substance is discussed. Hp and torque should be same as any 1800, but if you talk about the fairing shield, is it electric? Does it have shift assist? Modes? You are busy talking about music featuring the bikes…..comon and give is some real information .

R 18 = Super heavy. Plasticky switches. No back lit switches. No fuel gauge. No keyless ride. Gigantic key. Manual steering lock. Hardly any ground clearance.
Nothing that wouldn't have been there before. Harley E Glide and Road King, Indian Chief... Same classic touring bike outfit just with those ugly BMW boxer engines. Looks like plagiarized.

So BMW builds a 'world class tourer' for the US. Just another 'spark generator'.
They're getting greedy like Harley. Put the cheapest speakers in there so you have to upgrade if you want a decent sound. Sad sad sad
