- This video is a follow up to the previous ASRock DeskMini X600 review where performance was not up to par. ASRock has released a new Firmware & BIOS which significantly improves both CPU and GPU performance. This video showcases the difference between the two BIOS versions.

Congrats on getting your contact at ASRock to actually follow through on this. As you pointed out, the non-gaming aspects saw only minor changes, but the better usage of the igpu is significant, and makes the 8700G look better.
A new BIOS version (3.02) came out today
Yeah, doesn't look to increase performance going by the description. But I'll test it out.
@@Robtech Hi, I am receiving my DeskMini X600 soon, do you have any feedback on this new BIOS? Sorry to ask the question like that unprepared but there is unfortunately too little feedback on the DeskMini X600 (while on the Deskmini not what was missing) and last thing: In the "Advanced Tab" part of the BIOS, have you tried pressing the key combination "CTRL+Q"? if it works like on the DeskMini X300, then a significant number of Additional options (various voltages and other OC settings) should appear in this "Advanced Tab".
Nice update, its good to see you didn't settle for its poorer performance. Well done.
Guys, im still owning the Deskmini X300, 3 times i asked for help to asrock support with different issues, the 3 times they just assisted me IN AN AMAZING way, in case of a RMA for a component they inmediately send it at my address, not enough words to praise this brand. ASUS should learn of them, and stop letting down their users. Long life ASROCK! :) technical support!
Kudos to Asrock. Also Kudos to you for actually reaching out to them vs just posting the video and faffing off.
Very good improvements with the new bios. I hope new units ship with the bios updated and super glad you explained the update method!
If the King of Mini PC's has something to say, you best listen to him. Well done Asrock
WOW ASUS NUC PRO+ U9 still leading ahead in all performance benchmarking.... ASUS NUC 14 Pro+ U9 is only 25% of the size of ASrOCK X600... great analysis...
I love your sarcasm man.
Good job ASRock!
I am sure they made this BIOS fix just for you, thanks a lot for sharing it with us peasants!
😅 I doubt it, but thanks!
Pretty incredible performance for such small space!
It's great to know that AsRock was responsive to the issue. I thought the problem might be due to teething pains and it's good that firmware updates have been a remedy.
Good job with the new BIOS! Thank you!
And you earned a new subscriber…
Did you ever take a look with an IR thermal sensor at the VRM temps? The older models were notable for running the VRM on borderline meltdown temps (AM4 gen).
Can't help believe that the PR flack wouldn't have sent the issues up to engineering, regardless of you bringing to his/her attention. It's their job to monitor reviews and determine if criticism (if any) is justified. It's nice you retested to show that they pay attention. The companies that completely ignore issues are companies that should also be ignored.
Nice video!
You should have bought the x600 deskmeet. Ok, it's bigger but still sff and can rock a 4060ti 16g if you want. What you think Rob? Too big for the hole? I have myself a NUC11 Enthousiast, timespy around 6400. iGPU's are still far away from dGPU's. I estimate we need some real tech improvements aka 5 years minimum. Enjoy your vids though🍺
If anyone else (like me) coming here trying to figure out why the "instant flash" option was greyed out in bios (like mine did), try to change your memory speed to 4800 or 5600 to ungrey the option.. hope that helps
Thank you!
I wanted USB 4 on it , so sticking to my Deskmini x300.
Where can I buy one in Canada?!
Can I make a video to update the BIOS?
that using same ram speed (5600) as before? what would be the optimal ram speed for deskmini? or is the 5600 fastest in sodimm form?
There is a Kingston Fury 6400 ram
The optimal would be the fastest possible as the iGPU is memory bandwidth starved either way. You can set the speed in the BIOS, but depends on what the memory can handle. The sticks I used hold up fine at 6000, but crash when gaming at 6400.
My friend, how do I know the latest firmware update??
I have been facing a problem since I bought the device. When I enter the games, the screen freezes or stops (only in games)
Check the BIOS version
@@Robtech Latest version 4.03
My friend, I raised the speed of Ramat from Pius and now the device does not show a picture, it just works and rotates its fan, but it does not show a picture.
Reset the BIOS. There's a CMOS reset on the board. It's in the manual
Thank you, a problem has been solved, but there is a second problem, which is the appearance of a blue screen when playing, I have Rams at 5600 8 and 8 total 16, Bios 4.03 latest version, do you know the problem?
Does the processor have an update?
Nice sleuthing!
My instant flash option is grayed out and I cannot select it. Any advise? I've installed the firmware
Best to get in touch with ASRock support
Have you fixed it? I had the same issue. My memory stick speed was set to 6400. Then i tried to set the memory speed to 5600, only then the instant flash is not greyed out and i can update it.. try to do the same or or get it to 4800 on your system..
@qebal11 Yes I fixed it, I turned all my bios settings to default and rebooted
Can I buy this device link?

How about DeskMeet?
There are not enough usb ports
get a HUB

The B760 version has more if you don't care about casual gaming.
1. Released far later than promised.
2. The total system cost is prohibitive relative to pre-built mini PCs.
3. Mini PC's can achieve the same performance (including integrated graphics) for half the TDP.
4. Poor motherboard thermal management.
5. Given #4 above and the wattage limit of the board, installing the 8700g will yield almost no benefit over the 8600g.
6. Deskminis seem to always be largely dependent on BIOS version, but you never know which version your unit will ship with.
7. They're still using the poor quality rear screws that are too short and easy to strip.
8. They removed the front ventilation. Why?
9. The Asrock web site lists only 2 compatible CPU coolers, one being the expensive Noctua. I am sure there are a few others that are compatible, but a bummer we have to do trial and error.
Let's see what the ASRock DeskMini X900 will do with a 9700G. I'd love to see its USB4 performance.
9700g should fit x600 or?
Yeah, should be on the same socket.
1:16 PaRasite department.
Careful ASRock are known to end contracts the second you give them something negative
Dude you mean RAM !!!! MEMORY WHAT DOES IT REMEMBER . Not a damn thing . as soon as you turn the PC off . it forget everything .
Might want to look up what RAM stands for
