The great June Anderson at the peak of her vocal splendor, was following in the footsteps of Sutherland, all served by a staging that highlights the absolute violence done to this sold, scorned, and humiliated woman (Serban at his best was then Anderson's partner, maybe this explains why she was so fully involved in this staging where madness is evidently the only escape)... everything came together to make this evening a legendary one... its quality is all the more appreciated when one understands the words with the subtitles, it seems to me...

C'est une des mises en scène les plus intéressante et une lecture certes moderne mais absolument en ligne avec le l'histoire que j'aie jamais vu. Et d'ailleurs June aimait cette mise en scène et jouait à fond le jeu, car elle pensait qu'elle était parfaitement juste dramatiquement. Ce n'est pas en visionnant un petit extrait qu'on peut juger de la cohérence et de la puissance dramatique d'ensemble d'une production. Il faut prendre le temps de voir l'ensemble avant de juger.
