Just started learning Ukrainian today as I think it will be much more needed now in the US. I only know English unfortunately but currently trying to learn Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and now putting Ukrainian to the top of the list. Just crazy to think what you are going through over there, so glad you are somewhere safe at least and getting some help! Thank you so much for what you are doing!
I'm a Pole. Sentences, structure and words are like ~90% same in Polish, but like in very simplified versions. Clearly Ukrainian is way closer to Polish than Russian. I can't understand Russian, maybe only 10-15%. Everything best Inna
I don't speak any Slavic languages (yet) but that sounds like Old Swedish vs. modern Swedish or German vs. Netherlands. Very similar except the grammar.
Ukrainian is a beautiful language. I'm studying everyday. It's very difficult for me though because the vocabulary is very different and hard to remember. I need a lot of repetition.
If you are able get a Quizlet account (it’s free) and you can make flashcards from Ukrainian into English or whatever language you choose. I use it for school when I study French and it’s so useful to actually remember things and you can do it anywhere as it’s on phone or computer.
@@lila_harris This is really good advice. I, too, have been learning from this channel and the Ukrainian Lessons podcast on Spotify. Funnily enough, I hadn't thought to make flash cards. Will definitely work on that this weekend.
Hello Inna! I am teaching portuguese to four UKrainian children and I souls like to learn their language too. They are really fast learners ,very eager to learn.
Thank you for your videos! I like to learn foreign languages and to discover sometimes that there is in some words like roots, like bridges between foreign languages. I found already some with french and italian and also german (I'm french). It's amasing. And learning ukrainian today is also something to show and to proove that Ukrain is bigger than P. (I don't want to write his name because I hate him) thinks. Take care and Slava Ukraïni!!
Я могу писать только по-русски. Всё лучшее для вас. Очевидно, что вы боретесь в данный момент. Приходится верить, что всё снова будет хорошо, и скорее раньше, чем позже. 👍😊❤
Personally, I see no way that Russia could occupy Ukraine, neither as a whole, nor even in part. I think it is a question of sooner rather than later before they fail. The difference is how much death and destruction will Russia cause before they quit.
@@TheNoiseySpectator the thing is they are not trying to occupy Ukraine, that is for sure not the goal. They will not quit soon for political reason. They are here to fight so Ukraine will never be part of NATO, unless Europe or United States gave in…. this is the tragic part. This war is techniquely a proxy war just like the ones U.S fought in Middle East. Still horrible though.
@@TheNoiseySpectator Also, I think This just turn into a real war, since negotiation is impossible at this point, Russia is going to really fight now. It was punitive before. It is going to be harder, but Russia is poor, so it might not hold that long.
Inna! Дуже дякую for your lesson. Як ти? I hope things are better, and if they're not, I hope they get better soon. Personally I always wanted to know what the voice says during the raid sirens. I recognize words like увага, адміністрація, громадян, and I think тревога but I can't make the whole sentences. I tried to find them online but I couldn't. Wishing the best for the ukrainian people, Слава Україні! Все буде Україна.
So many languages have "feel" as a reflexive verb! My English learners from many different countries often used to say, "I feel myself bad." I will have to look up when/why/how that happened to modern English.
That's usually how it works in Germanic languages. German: "Ich fühle mich nicht wohl". Swedish: "Jag känner mig dålig". Etc. The German verb is even cognate with the English.
I have just found your channel and I am very glad, as I live in the neighboring Slovakia and we have a lot of refugees here. I gather our languages are very close, so I would like to learn a bit, also because I have signed up to help in the refugee help center here in the capital. I am glad you are safe in the safer part of the country and I completely understand your decision not to leave your husband and family, I cannot even imagine how difficult it must have been to leave your home. Every day I admire the courage and resilience of your nation and I hope and pray the peace will return to your country very soon. Slava Ukrajini! 💛💙
You may not have your home at the moment but you and your brave countrymen have earned a place in a lot of hearts. Btw. I just bought a couple of T-shirts and a hoodie with the Vyshyvanka heart from your shop as a modest symbol of that.
Thank you. I feel that this is extremely difficult for you. There is sorrow in your eyes and in your voice, but the courage of your spirit shines through. Please continue to have courage, though things are very difficult at the present time. Soon, it will be over and you will be able to return home. слава Україні!
I can't believe you are still doing this while under threat of war! Thank you so much for your dedication. I am currently learning Ukrainian because my mother's side of the family is Ukrainian. Because my grandparents came to Canada well over 100 years ago now, we have lost the language in our family. But your courage and the people of Ukraine have inspired me to learn and uncover more about my family's connections and genealogy. Слава Україні!

Is that Russian or Ukrainian? I am trying to learn how to tell them apart by sight. Another thing from the Bible is "Love Your Neighbor as Yourself". I would like to tag a specific Book and Chapter, but that seems to be all over the place, in it. It must be very important. 🤔
Hi it's David, Belfast. The alphabets are similar but if you see і, ї, or ь, it's Ukrainian. Russian also has letters that are not in the Ukrainian alphabet. In response to your earlier question, no, I regret to say I have no contact details for the lovely girl who walked along the beach path with me and talked and laughed a little with me. She was teaching herself English. I can only wish her well, and say again, I shall remember her always
@@TheNoiseySpectator Sorry I was wrong about the ь. Russian has it too. I should have checked. The "soft sign". I'm right about the і and the ї. They are Ukrainian. і is like English "ee" sound and ї is like the English "ye". One of the nice things about learning Ukrainian is that the letters have the same sound all the time (with some exceptions of course!) Not like English where the letter i for example has maybe four or five different sounds. Sorry to be preachy.
@@dqvissmyph2968 That's okay. What about words with only _one_ letter in them? I know there are about six Russian words spelled with one letter, are there any Ukrainian words with one letter that are not the same as in Russian? For example, elsewhere, I mentioned the word "and" in Spanish is "y", and in Portuguese, it is "e".

The material you display on the video goes away from the screen pretty fast. Many language teachers provide a PDF of the lines that they displayed. You write them anyway so if you take a few moments to post PDF of that it would be a good help for the beginners I think I am already intermediate due to my strong background in Russian. There is some 70-80% similarity. Same happened when I learnt Portuguese fast as I was fluent in Spanish. I had picked Korean th e22nd language to be the last one. But in order to help people arriving in Canada, I decided to learn Ukrainian as well and your work is very helpful Thank you.

Inna, this subject is exactly what I've been hoping to learn. I also am interested in the related requests others have posted to this video. May I also ask for vocabulary lessons to say things such as: May I hug you? May I hold your hand? My heart cries with you. May I pray for you? What can I bring you? What scares you? How can I help you feel safe? Do you want to be alone or may I sit with you? What things make your heart feel better? Can I help you call your family? Are you in pain? Where is your pain? What kind of pain do you feel? (Achy, stabbing, throbbing, sharp, constant, intermittent, burning, zaps, depression, suicidal.) Are you confused? Do have memory loss? Do you have shortness of breath? Heart palpations? Headache? Do you need to see the doctor? Are you in urgent need of a doctor? Do you need money? How much money do you need? Do you need help to find your family? These sorts of things. I see you are so stressed, dear Inna. Thank you for all you are doing. Please continue to tell us how you are personally and how your family and husband are and anything you know about your home. Also what you are in need of. I send you love and wish I could make it all better for you. Love from America.

Thank you :) I've learned myself what it is to learn a language. First learn what is the sky and the ground and left and right. Then learn to ask help. Learning all the complicated tenses comes after you can actually already speak a little already. It's nonsese to start a language by learning just words in lists with tenses: In Swedish to burn in four used tenses: Brinna brinn brann brunnit, My Swedish teacher told me, if you are going to speak like that to a swede, that fellow would most likely call an ambulance to you, for this one is not mentally well 😅 I really thank you from all my heart for your lessons🙂
Brinna is the infinitive, brinn is the imperative, brann is preteritum and brunnit is perfect. But be thankful that it's not older Swedish with different forms in singular and plural, like "huset brinner", "husen brinna", "huset brann" "husen brunno" etc.
Inna, thank you for an informative video. On the topic of language, I wanted to provide one note. In some videos you say "100 profit" when in English it sounds more natural to say "100 percent of the profit." I hope that is helpful. Stay safe.
I am on my way to work. I am working as a humanitarian aid in Poland and I am really thankful for your language course - its more useful than you think ❤️💙💛 дякую дуже
@@sweetbunny6198 I meant, I am working with Ukraininan people in Poland. I am working as humanitarian aid for Ukraininan, who escaped from the war to Poland, sorry my nad.
In Poland the Ukrainians who don't speak English have a much easier situation as Polish and Ukrainian are so similar as Romanian and Italian or even more similar. The main difference is alphabet.
For anyone who starts without foreknowledge: You may (very likely;-) find Inna's videos about the Ukrainian alphabet helpful! Also: The UA-cam playback speed doesn't distort the pitch and sounds in 0.75 relatively normal and, at 0.5, one can pick up difficult nuances!
Hi inna I'm from India I just hit your subscribe button because I fall in love with your courage to defend and pray for your own country. Stay strong I'm here supporting you.
Very simillar to polish :D in polish we just have singular form in older slavic language to single person you use plural form. 1. pomóc, dopomóc - help, wam potrzeba dopomóc? Jak ja mogę wam dopomóc? 2. Czy nie moglibyście by mi pomóc. Tak ja mogę wam pomóc. 3. Ambulance i would not quess in polish is Ambulans or Karetka, now i realised that its sounds liek "szybka pomoc" the ukrainian version of ambulance :D 4. Wyklikcie, wyklikajcie simmilar in polish but we use zadzwoń for call Lot lot simmiraties!

Inna... Can you find a WESTERN UNION office anywhere near you?If you can, send me your contact info and I will send you some cash.
You don't have to send me any t-shirts..I just want to help you
I don't speak any Slavic languages (yet) but that sounds like Old Swedish vs. modern Swedish or German vs. Netherlands. Very similar except the grammar.
I would buy the full Collection of your how do you speak Ukraine videos.
@@lila_harris I'm using ankidroid because someone made a set from Duolingo Ukrainian course. It's a good set.
Hello Inna! I am teaching portuguese to four UKrainian children and I souls like to learn their language too. They are really fast learners ,very eager to learn.
Thank you for a great video thinking of you xx
Thank you for your videos! I like to learn foreign languages and to discover sometimes that there is in some words like roots, like bridges between foreign languages. I found already some with french and italian and also german (I'm french). It's amasing. And learning ukrainian today is also something to show and to proove that Ukrain is bigger than P. (I don't want to write his name because I hate him) thinks. Take care and Slava Ukraïni!!
It is so great to see you!! Great video! You are daily in my prayers.
Wishing the best for the ukrainian people,
Слава Україні!
Все буде Україна.
Дякую!!!
Дякую we are praying for Ukraine often. Thanks for your video - I've been learning Ukrainian in Duolingo and your videos provide extra content
I like this language
I am a nurse. I am trying to get over there to help. Thank you for this lesson. I'm praying 🙏 for safety and healing for all in Ukraine 🇺🇦.
You may not have your home at the moment but you and your brave countrymen have earned a place in a lot of hearts. Btw. I just bought a couple of T-shirts and a hoodie with the Vyshyvanka heart from your shop as a modest symbol of that.
You are a wonderful woman!! God Bless Ukraine!!
Great channel Inna!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ще раз дякую за гарне відео! Чудово, якщо ви продовжуєте допомагати та навчати інших. 👏🏼👍🏻😀

@@dqvissmyph2968 Thank you.
The "i" with the Oomlots, or regular "i" , or the blocky shaped "b". ✔️
I hope your friend is okay, these days. 🙂
Thank you Inna!
Дяакую Інна! Я Українска Американ my grandparents came here from Ukraine and they raised me. I’m learning Ukrainian finally now at age 48. They are gone but their love is still here in my heart. I’m praying for all Ukrainian people. Thank you for your videos and teaching us. Stay safe. Cлава Україні 💙💛
Дякую! 🇺🇦🌻💙💛
Sending you good wishes and prayers. Stay well and safe dear Inna
Inna you're a very strong person, I have a lot of respect for you persevering and continuing to educate despite these terrible hardships. Teaching others new skills helps make the world a better place so your lessons are a ray of light through the darkness. Ukraine will win this war and the international community will help rebuild. Like President Zelensky said, "Yes, Ukraine WAS beautiful, but now it will become GREAT!" Slava Ukraini!
Ukrainian language is very interesting
Much love and prayers from England 🇺🇦
Відволікаючись від бойових дій, підтягую свою англійську Вашими відео :) Після перемоги обовязково поїду десь у подорож по світу.
♥♥♥ Inna. Merci !
Thank you for your great channel, Inna. All will be well again! It would be great, if you could do some easy only Ukrainian chats about life in Ukraine!
So glad to see you are safe and still helping other people learn this beautiful language.
You are helping so many. I'm trying myself and I'm not there.
You are precious ❤
A very useful video, Inna! You're doing a great job!
Inna, this subject is exactly what I've been hoping to learn. I also am interested in the related requests others have posted to this video.
May I also ask for vocabulary lessons to say things such as:
May I hug you?
Inna there is a saying in my country “ what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”. I am sorry for the losses in your country but you are becoming a great nation. I pray for Ukraine every day.

What kind of pain do you feel? (Achy, stabbing, throbbing, sharp, constant, intermittent, burning, zaps, depression, suicidal.) - Який саме біль ти відчуваєш?

Wishing the best for you, your family and your country! Be safe!
Thanks Inna
Beautiful language, love it !
Привіт-Привіт, Інно! Це-Скотт. Дуже дякую! Я вчуся кожен день. Я дуже радий, ви моя вчителька! 💙💛🇺🇦
Inna, thank you for an informative video. On the topic of language, I wanted to provide one note. In some videos you say "100 profit" when in English it sounds more natural to say "100 percent of the profit." I hope that is helpful. Stay safe.
I find it very helpful when you guide us with examples of hyper hi linguistic skills and sentence construction cxxx 💐🌹💚

I am from Romania, we host ukrainian refugees here. I am trying to learn ukrainian so I can speak with them. They don't speak English.
In Poland the Ukrainians who don't speak English have a much easier situation as Polish and Ukrainian are so similar as Romanian and Italian or even more similar. The main difference is alphabet.
Thanks
For anyone who starts without foreknowledge: You may (very likely;-) find Inna's videos about the Ukrainian alphabet helpful! Also: The UA-cam playback speed doesn't distort the pitch and sounds in 0.75 relatively normal and, at 0.5, one can pick up difficult nuances!
Hi inna I'm from India I just hit your subscribe button because I fall in love with your courage to defend and pray for your own country. Stay strong I'm here supporting you.
thank you
Very simillar to polish :D
in polish we just have singular form in older slavic language to single person you use plural form.
1. pomóc, dopomóc - help, wam potrzeba dopomóc? Jak ja mogę wam dopomóc?
2. Czy nie moglibyście by mi pomóc. Tak ja mogę wam pomóc.
3. Ambulance i would not quess in polish is Ambulans or Karetka, now i realised that its sounds liek "szybka pomoc" the ukrainian version of ambulance :D
4. Wyklikcie, wyklikajcie simmilar in polish but we use zadzwoń for call
Lot lot simmiraties!
Breaks my heart to see such a pretty and lovely girl like yourself live through something as horrific as this. Be safe, greetings from Brazil Slava Ukraine!!

I'm learning ukrainian on my own at the moment but i'm very beginner. Some of the stuff on this video could be useful for me at work since i work at an airport. But could you maybe do some airport words and phrases that i could use. We do have some ukrainian refugee's coming to Canada through our airport. Just incase please and thank you.
The ukrainian canadian congress has volunteers at the airport i work at for most of the day to help them but just incase they're not available. Also i grew up hearing ukrainian from my great grandma and grandpa but didn't learn it. I learned one ukrainian insult from my grandpa but that is it. 😅😂
