Just a heads up if you put your hand at the bottom of the wheel whatever way that you need to turn ,turn that way Instead of holding your hand at the top of the wheell and go the opposite
. I am trying to get a little side business mowing lawns. I want to get a trailer but I’m scared I won’t be able to drive it. Thanks for the video and by the way I have a 2000 landcruiser. Same as your lx470. Best trucks ever made
Put your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel. Then if you want the trailer to go right turn right you want the trailer to go left turn left. Is a lot easier than your hand on the top, then you have to turn it in the opposite direction.
Very nice video very impressive of you going around the grass part it is even a little bit easier if you put your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel you want to go left turn your hand to the left if you want to go to the right turn it to the right
I'm so confused! I'm still learning. I want to go left, I turn to the right and the trailer goes right and vice versa. I want to practice in my yard but that thing is 13' long. 😢😭
I’ve been driving a 3tonne flat deck with a concrete line pump Trailer for almost a year and still can’t reverse But I usually only have 3 feet on each side and I still can’t seem to do this. Plus there’s tracktors and fences I have to stay away from I don’t get why I still can’t do it.I feel after doing it for a year I shouldn’t be driving at all lol.
That's how I do it..... Ofcourse in that situation, I'd just pull through forward...... I only back when absolutely necessary..... Ofcourse usually if I have to back up, it's because I actually have to navigate a small area and I actually do have to turn it.... And I have yet to jackknife a trailer doing this
PLEASE HELP. IVE GOT A TRAILER HOOKED UP TO MY CAR. AND CANT NOT KEEP IT STRAIGHT. I EASY BACKING IT UP. AND IT STARTS TO TURN. IS THERE SOMETHING EXTRA I CAN HOOK TO IT. TO KEEP IT STRAIGHT. PLZZZXX HELP.
Nope you have to turn your steering wheel in the direction that the trailer is drifting to to correct and keep it straight also don’t back up fast you gotta do it slowly
Good going but I disagree with you about looking over your shoulder .It is a bad habit to get into. I always backed up this way because all I ever had to back up was a small utility trailer like yours in the video or my boat and trailer which was only 16' long. The problem comes when you get yourself a trailer with a high front that totally blocks your view ( travel trailer or 5th wheel ) . You then HAVE TO use your mirrors and with all the years of only looking over the shoulder, I believe it really throws a wrench into it. I would say try using JUST your mirrors 50% of the time now when you only have the small utility trailer. That way, you already have a lot of practise in if you should ever get a high walled trailer ( travel trailer/5th wheel etc....). Good video.
Hey mate good onya, nice video, why do you keep saying you can go ahead, when your backing up, or is tthhat bbacking down, sorry man Im no chance, cheers cuz😊
Your a great driver and comontaiter but you should have a double view/split screen to show which direction on the stearing wheel compaired to where the trailers going. That would of been a perfect video if that was done. But thank you. You still make alot of sense!! And detailed. Thanks

If your goal is to not get it on the lines it would make a lot of sense to use your mirrors
Right lol
