    Easiest way for me is to just turn toward the mirror the boat is in. You see the boat leak to the left mirror turn the wheel toward that mirror. See it leaking in the right mirror turn the wheel toward that mirror. Just follow the mirrors to bring it back behind the truck. Can use this method to put the boat wherever you want.

    After watching this, my second time backing in to launch our boat was done in one shot. Before watching, I had to keep pulling forward to straighten out! I was actually excited to go back to see if the first time when I only had to pull forward a few times before being able to launch, was a fluke. Grateful for your clear and concise video. Thank you!

    Chantel, Thank you for producing these great videos. I’m a first time boater and boat owner. Your videos are the most informative . I’ve learned a great deal from them. You make like Your talking directly to me. I have a 14’ 95 sea food sportster. My family and I live near the Niagara river. I took he bout out for the first time this past Saturday . First we did a little tubing on the Erie Canal with teenage step daughter and her friend. Afterward we went out on to the river for first time. What the best way to deal with bigger boat waves.? We did get some big ones that doused the boat, obviously girls loved it. Thanks,
    Chris A Lockport NY

    • @ChantelBoats
      @ChantelBoats  4 роки тому +1

      If you see big waves coming, the wort thing you can do is pull all the way off the throttle - the bow will go down low and the waves will come right over the front! Ideally, you take them when the bow is sitting higher, going somewhere between 7 mph and 15 mph - that puts the boat in the best position to not get waves over the bow. Or if you are sitting still, try to take them sideways so the boat just kind of rolls with them. Thanks for watching and welcome to boating!

    Hi good video only thing i would add is if possible have someone watching back,all too easy to lose track of where that one person you may have missed stepping into your path of reverse

  • @amrak5028
    @amrak5028 2 роки тому +1

    Extra TIP*
    Set up your reverse motion while still going forward. As you are prepping to back a trailer, at the very last seconds of braking on your inbound approach, just before reaching a full stop and shifting into reverse, give your steering wheel one small (1/8-1/4) turn.
    This presets the back portion of your towed vehicle towards it destination. This will allow you too make less over all movements with the steering wheel, because you have your trailer already pointed in the direction you want it to go.
    Simple technique that is often overlooked, but gives the most positive response.

    • @ChantelBoats
      @ChantelBoats  3 роки тому +1

      Everything works exactly the same, it's all just a little bit tighter. For parking spots I'd practice the 90 degree back in a bunch, and make sure you're watching the nose of your truck in a tight space cause it's easy to lose track of it when you are focused on the boat.

    I prefer not to think about which way to turn the wheel. I think of it in terms which direction do I want the back of the truck to head. Then I don't have to think about the wheel at all. I know that if the back of the truck pushes the trailer hitch left the rear of the trailer will swing to the right. Also, the ultra-obvious thing that I missed when I first started driving a trailer is that the pivot point for the trailer to turn is the trailer wheels and not the hitch.
