14 minutes of showing off guitars, pedals, amps, cameras, lighting, records, memorabiliaa 30 seconds dedicated to the "living area", which consists of.. perfume and passport. God I love you Mary.
I'm just starting out as a beginner at age 50 to this whole home recording hobby, I have a room twice the size and only 1/25 the kit you have; and mine's a total sham of a mess! You've inspired me to clean up and devout more time to it! Love my weekends and evenings in my space as well.
Thank you so much Mary. Your videos are so incredibly inspiring.. I can’t tell you how much I (and tons of others) appreciate everything you do. Though I have been playing the guitar for 15+ years, I lack the confidence you seem to just radiate naturally.. so inspiring, keep up the miraculous work Mary.
good stuff, I have been going through a lot of crap in my life, so when I get a free moment I like to watch Mary and some other artists here to re-charge myself, Mary has a pleasant voice and a lot to say!
In an effort to not be that guy who comments on the looks rather than the substance I will say this: I really love your gear, guitars, amps, effects etc. that degree is definitely an accomplishment, congrats. Your room is the sort of hangout place musicians can go over to bringing pizza, breaking out the acoustics and have an all night jam session playing covers and coming up with some originals. Awesome studio tour ,kudos
You obviously work hard at your music and have the talent and aptitude to go far. I've been playing and writing and performing for 46 years, but never got anywhere near your level of achievement. The way you can move between writing, performing, recording, editing and filming is simply astonishing to an old guy like me. All that and a 1200 mile cycling achievement too! My excuse for not having got far with my music is having had children and now Grandchildren - some of whom play guitar btw. In fact, I showed my grandson - who's 10 years old - a basic blues in E and within the hour, he could play it like he'd been doing it for years. Maybe he'll be as good as you one day soon.
Congrats on the move. I'm glad to have been along for the ride in your UA-cam journey. I 'found' you about 2+ years ago and I have to say that you've captured my attention. Your music is so thoughtful and inspiring. You make music fun and give me a GREAT reason to look forward to Tuesday's.
great insight of your workflow... I´m always amazed that today´s musician/youtubers are doing everything that formerly was done by a record company and that you have to be a manager/musician/filmmaker at the same time. I really admire the energy and the effort you put into being a creative fulltime musican. Keep up the good work!
Andrew Huang shout-out had me drop my jaw. We could say it's a small world but really great talent/people are drawn into proximity. You are awesome, Mary. cheers.
Enjoy your new place, cool, simple video, maybe we will get a chance to see the new place especially if you have the room for a dedicated studio?? Keep Grooving!
Words of Wisdom: Be able to get out of the country quickly, and smell good! I’m going to Calgary next week, will implement. Fun to see your current studio, looking forward to seeing your new digs.
I hope the studio in your new home will be just as nice. I don't know much on computer recording technology, but you showed some products that I can look into ;) Keep at it. Big Fan ;)
Wow, that's what I like about this girl. A true working musician who places 100% focus on utilitarian conveniences. Doesn't trouble herself with Martha Stewart color coordination, isn't an over privileged Ivy league rich kid with a glut of super high end equipment she'll never use, and makes no false pretense of where she's been or who she is. Pay attention kids because "This is what a real hard working musician's life looks like" and I'd be right at home. She's real deal & I have no doubt that if she stays on the path she's on, the home she'll have outside of Bristol will far outshine this one. Or maybe not. Was it ever all about the money?.? Nah, its the love of the art. Best of luck to you Ms. Spender.
Really enjoyed this one. Feel like we are all getting to know you more, and I know I'm not alone when I say - wish you all the best with your move and your career going forward!
It's really inspiring to see how you utilize your space! I hope you have off-site backups for all that great content in addition to the army of hard drives. Great & fun talk as always :)
That's so cool and inspiring. With everything you've accomplished with so simple gear and ways to do things it helps me tremendously. Always looking forward to your videos here in San Antonio tx
I think macbooks are great because of their software optimization, and they are good to make things on the go, but you'd be surprised how much faster a hackintosh would be for your bigger projects. Just pickup a ryzen processor, lots of ssd's and 32 Gb of ram and you'd have a computer literally 2x-3x faster for video editing and music recording (: Just a piece of advice as the nerd I am.
as an IT support guy I got a little heart attack from that cable management there, but then again... your smiley face is enough to get rid of all anger and professional anxiety.. I know why I am watching your vids :-)
Hello Mary, awesome video! I'm currently looking into getting a new desk (don't have enough room right now) and I love your setup with all the plants and random stuff. It's a pleasant difference from what I'm looking into, which is a very clean professional desk with 19"inch rack spaces etc. Never thought about plants actually :D
Cool room, especially in England. Being American, I'd love to visit England. But yeah, really nice to see your room. Thank you for sharing, Mary! PS, please let me know next time you're coming to Chicago!
I laughed when I saw the moth fly in the window. And then I realized how long it took you to put together this tour for us because it had turned from full daylight to full dark. Thanks.

I hate moving. The last place I lived was an abandoned clock shop. All brick and oak beams.18 foot ceilings .Overlooking a stream. At night it was serene listening to the stream Rush.I met a girl at a club I was playing most weekends. After I lived with the girl for about hLf a year she began to talk about changing my lifestyle. She did not like the idea of me playing on the weekends and coming home at 2 am.But coupled with my weekend gig I worked in a music store. So I was making good money and I loved it.After presuring me she finally told me she no longer wanted me living with her and gave me 10 days to move.I went back to the old factory but no rents available.Unreal.
No soundproofing?! Well, I guess I have no excuses not to start recording, in my 1 - bed flat. Did you ever get any complaints? Bristol (& probably PMT Music) will be poorer without you.
Bought the Teleport after seeing one of your videos. Without much fuss, I now have a bunch of amps including the Orange AD30 being fed back into my micro terror using amplitude 32 bit software ( I use an American 12ax7 in pre amp stage of the micro terror,General Electric ). I was surprised at how good it sounds, even keyboards and drums. Ok,it's not HiFi, but it does sound like real instruments in real time, too (Ableton lite, akai apc key25).
Just about right. Play music and smell good, what else is there :) Nicely organized in a not CDO (OCD in the correct order) fashion. Good enough to get the job done, and that's what's needed. Will the new place have a similar space ?
Please for the love of all things technology, invest in a home NAS device when you move. There are tons of affordable options that would allow you to consolidate your data storage and set up a bit of redundancy in case of a drive failure.
Dang I'm only seventh! :( But finally studio tour!!!!! Can you do a video on using GarageBand on an iPhone? Cause I don't have a Mac. Or could just condense it into like "my tips and tricks for home mixing" or something.
Hi...I like your studio-room of music hehehhe and I love your tatto bike...so cute in your left hand. Me too I ride a bike in my City, this is my life style and I began in the world of guitar acoustic, this amazing I like. 😎😎👌
Hi Mary - I know you've most probably moved away from this place by now, but I'm rewatching this video where you had the table on which you marked the camera related stuff including the camera you were holding to film the video and had another space marked 'camera microphone' (visible at 8:29). What type of microphone would that be? i.e. which one do you use for this type of videos? Lapel or shotgun type mic? Because I'm working on building a setup and yours obviously works wonderfully. Thanks and keep it up.
You should consider upgrading the Yamaha speakers if you still are using those to Adam SX or something like those. I love how in a guitar video "my drone" is a normal statement, like this taking about a phone. That how far in the future we are.
I must say this is probably one of the best rooms in the world! 💚 The perfect mix of cosy and utilitarian.

Seriously could just listen to Mary talk and play for hours! Very enjoyable love the look in to 'your world'.

I can tell by how much you put into just organizing you gear that you are a hard worker and are gonna do even more great things in the future.
Being happy with your music room is so key! Recently my little corner of the house has been taken over, and I've gotta reclaim a spot somewhere...
Congrats on the move. It will be nice to have this memorial of your previous creative space. 😊

You should consider upgrading the Yamaha speakers if you still are using those to Adam SX or something like those. The Adam Audio spkrs are absolutely in a class of their own with the Ribbon Tweeters and they also make Ribbon Midrange spkrs also. The clarity and definition of these stand out remarkably and the stereo image is beyond belief when you hear tracks through them. When I listen through other brands of monitors I always feel they are lacking somewhat or often severely missing clarity simply because I am used to hearing the Adam spkrs which sound so much better even than great brands like Events, KRKs or Genelec's!! I am not trying to sell Adam spkrs, it is just that when I went to audition studio monitors I listened to around 10 manufactures and the Adams stood out a mile in just shear detail.
