Hi, Mike! Kontakt Upright Bass has a beautiful tone and can be a good choice for simple bass lines. Orange Tree Corebass Pear has a decent sound and could be a financially attractive option but, in my case, I don't have the paid version of Kontakt. In my opinion, there are always some timbral problems with modeled instruments and this applies to MODO Bass with its artificial timbre. EZ Bass has a convincing tone and can easily be used for complex musical work. Ample Bass is one of my favorites, with its many features and round sound. NI Upright Bass didn't really excite me, perhaps because of its unnaturally full-bodied and slightly metallic tone, even though it has a number of equalization features. On this list, I missed the UJAM Mellow, a very expressive double bass with various timbral configurations and a warm sound; on the other hand, it doesn't have some of the features of its competitors. Acoustic Samples The Upright's got a nice timbre and can provide an interesting "old school bass sound". Spectrasonic Trilian has got a round timbre and sounds very musical; the bad side is that it's included in a expensive bass bundle with tons of electric and synth basses, so you can't buy just the acoustic one.
Big fan of NI - won't buy Session Upright, as you get no discounts for products you already own when upgrading to the next iteration of Komplete (K15 next?). However they are top quality. If using the player system - I just put my chord progression on the bass track and get the perfect accompaniment - as long as the timings on my chord changes aren't too radical. UJAM (shame you didn't mention the excellent "Mellow" bass) also works the same way.

nice job showing off each of the main products. for me - i have most of them and i wish the product developers would also take some time to remove a bit of the realism (slaps buzzes squeaks etc) because there are many times when those things come out in the recording and need to be removed from otherwise excellent performances. so -- an option to turn off the "realism" effects would be handy. a note - i use the Ample U Bass as my default w/ all the extras turns off and DI'd. it's an amazing instrument and the "riffer" to generate the MIDI and drag into the DAW really makes creating realistic bass lines so much easier than simply doing it in a DAW or music composition tool.

UJAM Mellow is a good option for beginners or for recording a quick demo.
Mike I like the Ample and the Modo bass one. I am a little on the fences on the session bass because I dont use the patterns I like to play it on my own and not use the patterns or any other built in pattern player, but as you hav shown on the video I dont have to use it if I dont need it. I think I have the full version of Modo bass but I am not sure, ut will be giving it a cloe ear. Thanks for the video as always thank you Mike
Think they are all good, but the Ample Sound is my favorite: full bodied, the bass equivalent of a great bottle of wine :)
From this selection AmpleBass Upright and Orange Tree Pear were my picks followed by Toontracks upright.
Hi Mike! New subscriber here. Love your content. I purchased Cakewalk Platinum about 2 months prior to Bandlab taking over, so I was probably one of the last ones who paid for it. I'm getting caught up on all your content and was pleased to see that we use a lot of the same plugins. I love the NOVA eq and the Kotelnikov compressor. We even have the same monitors! I was wondering if you've ever experienced the annoying "busy" message while doing a simple edit to an audio track, or even waiting on a newly recorded track to appear. I've also recently had a message pop up, while loading a session, saying that a corrupt region was found and padded with silence. Any suggestions for either of these scenarios?
Ample Bass Upright all the way😍 But I must say, they all do sound pretty decent. From there on, it's much about usability and own workflow stuff.
Great and informative video, as usual. I think the Ample Sound Upright is the best sounding - with Session Bassist running a very close second. Its just a matter of time before I eventually shell out the bucks the Ample. I regret not buying Modo Bass 2 when it was on sale for $49.
I am currently using an inexpensive alternative, the Adam Monroe Upright. Even at a price of less than $20, I still thought the Adam Monroe was very disappointing. However, I double track it with the free Acoustic Bass in the TTS-1 and then blend the two, using the Adam Monroe for the high end articulation and the TTS-1 for the bottom end bass. The two together sound pretty decent IMHO.

That's a tough one. They all sounded good. I am privy to the Toontrack or the Ample. Ample sounds great out of the box but Toontrack also has a lot of options for different sounds within it. But I am a little biased because I use Toontrack for so much composition. But Ample sounded best with an "out of the box" look between them all. Thanks Mike! Love these videos.
All seem useable and that allows any budget to get in on the upright sound. Ample was nicest, but I think I'd go with Session, when I need an upright. Modo has more kinds of basses and having Jam Points and frequent sales, I'll get that at some point, just for the Bass VI, though I hope to buy a Dano Longhorn baritone (octave lower), to replace my last one; a Schecter Hellcat VI, which replaced my Jerry Jones Neptune Bass6. HA I think I just talked myself into MODO!
The last one. Wish I could get that tone out of my EB-1.

Can't decide between Ample Bass and Orange Tree. 🤔 Maybe, but just maybe, Ample Bass sounds the best. 😁
I liked the Ample Sound bass the most. The Session Upright sounded less refined to me.
what about SWAM Double Bass?
Not a fan of the sound. Also, the pizzicato doesn't offer that many articulation, as the VST is designed to lean towards bows.

A gdzie jest np. Chris Hein Bass (np. Upright Nylon Full) oczywiście z tego zestawienia osobiście dla mnie (I będę to brzmienie miał razem z aktualizacja Komplete) interesująca jest ostatnia propozycją ale nie można pomijać rzeczy dobrych już istniejących.
