I feel like he favored the kraton and knows the vehicle more. He also restarted multiple times with the kraton for losing control. like he said the person who crashes the least wins. in a race with the several crashes the kraton would have lost. Besides that this was a great video thank you man
Tough call on the actual race, Kraton had faster laps but you also lost control more so if that were a real race, overall time would have the Sledge in the lead. You said it at the start, you crash less, you do well, Lol
I agree handling is overall better with the sledge. At a real race they won’t let you start your laps over. Sledge is just overall smooth.
I am 99% sure you own a Traxxas Sledge.
Not to mention it seemed like to me he laid off thr sledge quite a bit, also turn radius can definitely be changed on the sledge. You could obviously tell this dude was an arma guy. He was trying so hard with the kraton, didn't really try with the sledge just made sure to make clean passes on it, and didn't push to full potential. So, whatevz!

@Trav B Depends a lot on how the RC is set up!!!! Big difference from a bash set up to a racing set up. I raced hardcore from 2000 - 2004 and one of the first things I learned was how to set up a RC for different purposes!!!
I’m trying to decide between the Traxxas Sledge or the new Kraton 6S EXB RTR for my first 6S truck
Have a kraton and typhon and pretty much lovee all arrmas never really cared much for traxxas cause the battery connectors and looks but now that im a little more experienced i know how to change that easy so i would definitely like to get a sledge or xrt one day probably the xrt
Best comparison between the two trucks I’ve seen yet! I saw the previous video where you took out the diffs and compared size and the Sledge came out on top as far as girth! But everyone knows you can’t judge a book by it’s cover! The Talion vs the Sledge would be awesome next!
I think it's pretty well established that the Traxxas trucks are more durable than Arrma Kratons.

$800 and it comes with a potato for a steering servo… is it really too much to ask to include a decent servo at that price???
The head to head with the stick on the controllers made the Traxxas look good. It had enough power to stop the Kratons front wheels from turning and drove on over it.
2 great RC vehicles
For whatever the reason (tires? controller? suspension? luck?) the Sledge was more controllable on this track. So even though the Kraton had some faster individual lap times, it looked like the Sledge would have won most five-lap races. I don't really have a brand preference. I've been a Traxxas-only 2S/3S guy for a long time, but recently decided to finally move up to 6S, and after studying all the alternatives ... I went with the ARRMA Fireteam.
I bet heavier shock fluid in the Kraton would make a huge difference. It was bouncing all over the place. Awesome comparo!!!
The stick in the controllers! 😂 Great idea! Now you just need a way to steer both so you can race head to head.
Would be interesting to swap tires on these two and see the lap times, or maybe use truggy wheels/tires on both.

The Bluetooth module makes it super easy to set end points, but I'm guessing that radio system won't be in there long lol. Good stuff Joe!

Kraton is better, but Traxxas guys are the worst type of fanboys.
You should get the response tires for the sledge and remove the center brace. That should make the sledge more nimble around the track.
The center brace weighs an ounce would make a difference much but idk lol
taking the brace off would make the rc weaker if you crashed and could possibly bend the chassis@@maniac1628
Looks like the Sledge handles the track great. I’m thinking it takes run time on each to get the best laps.

That's a good point actually. But I think on a track like this which digs into the tyres and may unload the diff, the LSD will help. But yes, on a standard 1/8 clay track, open diffs will be better.
You were consistently on less throttle in the back woops with the sledge, and using your familiar remote with the Kraton vs stock radio with sledge gives you a big advangate to the Kraton.
I'd also say the number of crashes with the Kraton vs the Sledge are worth noting. Even as you said early on, less crashes typically is what wins races.
But yes, smooth laps with the Kraton were consistently faster. It just seems you struggle to get the smooth laps in with that particular truck.

You used the Fire Teams electronics... are those the same as the ones tht come on the Kraton RTR? It's a bigger vehicle so just wondering if those are better than what comes on the Kraton?

Is that track in your backyard? Also, like you said, the truck that crashes less is more likely to win. What servo would you recommend for a faster and tighter turn for the Sledge?

You can build a exb kraton for 800$ or less easy and that’s with decent electronics.

The Krayton was clearly more powerful. The Sledge was easier to drive because it had less power. Krayton for the win esp with the lower cost of entry.
I think if u get a better servo for the sledge.. and get the turning tighter.. and put the hot gear n the sledge.. it might eat the comp.. on that..🤷♂️ good runs and test btw!
I using a different esc and made the stock servo run on 7.4v there is a big difference, i run my sledge on a back yard track, slight bashing. I haven’t had no problems with mine. About 8-9 full packs (6s) only

Great comparison and video. Maybe next time you should drive them a day apart. When I'm running multiple cars, sometimes when the accelerations are different, it can throw you off. But you still did an amazing job. Kudos.
The great Jeremy Clarkson always says, slow is fast haha. Which makes sense when you really think about it. Kind of the 6s thing you mentioned, just too much for racing.
Upgrade servo and more controller time on the sledge and it'll be just as fast as the kraton. Experience driving a car helps with control under speed
The weight won’t allow the sledge to handle or perform with speed and turning like the Kraton even if the sledge was upgraded it will be overweight it’s already the heaviest rtr that’s on the market now it’s not even close
He’s had both trucks for the same time. I don’t own either but, if I was offered one free, I would take the kreton because I have a Talion EXB and most of the parts are interchangeable between the Arrma 6s line. Xmaxx, Maxx and sledge are in their own categories with no other trucks to mix and match parts with. 🤷🏻♂️ also, when I buy my next rig, it’s going to be the outcast 6s EXB. Then I’m changing the talion into a kreton XL
This is my first time actually seeing a video of your new track I didn't know you had a track in your backyard I know you had the rock crawling track back in the day when I live there in Jacksonville but you know I had to move on but I have several Vehicles still and I'd be trying to find a place to go all the time my birthday is this weekend I just got me a new kraton 6s

Nice Video, My thoughts Arrma's are tougher. I own 3 Arrma's also have 3 Traxxas. But support is different, one can only email Arrma. Traxxas has 7 days a week phone support.

What's the price difference out of the box. Think that's important. We should compair with the upgrades to same price. Just to be fair I gess. But all the test was really good.

Great video. Yep Kraton even though you stacked it a couple of times.thrbcar is more aggressive and can adapt to go even quicker. Could be bias bc I have one. 😂 Sledge is cool though too.
Here's my take on it. #1 you can change turn radius fairly easy. #2, it didn't look like you even tried with the sledge because you made perfect clean passes, and when you pushed the kraton you wrecked quite a bit, so it looked biased. Now on to #3 swap out that firm 150amp esc to a vxl-6s esc or put the firma in the sledge, and then see what happens. Everyone in the world knows traxxas vxl esc are poopy. So, if you were to put two equivalent mmx esc in them and matching castle 2000kv motors maybe 2200kv, I would say the sledge would be a clear winner.
The goal was to try to get as close to stock vs stock. The sledge was simply smoother to drive as the Kraton was twitchy. Also the turn was maxed as best I can tell on both. The Kraton is lighter and more nimble than the traxxas is out of the box.
@@ExocagedRC Twitchy is a great way to describe Arrma vechiles, at least the ones I have driven. I currently own a Typhoon BLX 6s and it is twitchy as hell. Not a fan of the Transmitter either. Same thing with the two Big Rocks I owned as well. The Traxxass trucks just overall drive better.
No use having a tight turning radius and super fast car if you can't drive it 🤣

I have a v4 and with a little time and money got total confidence in her, good rpm arms hit racing braces servo holder, used mugen shims in diffs asking with input gear shim Jim's beatings and it's a beast I don't bash hard mostly rip through the streets but never no diff issues, rpm arms are definitely second to none

my buddy has the TS and his son has the AK, they're pretty evenly matched. i think the Kraton edges the sledge out when it comes to racing (with the radio in the right hands), plus the Kraton is infinitely more adjustable. if we're talking about bashing, that's that's a whole different story.

800€ truck here in spain, you need to buy an extra card to somehow program the esc and change a setting to not make the car feel like crap, have to refill the oil inside the diffs with proper weight to make the car work somehow fun... you literally pay for an unfinished product, mechanic simulator, not to mention dealing with these stupid straps for the battery and the body clips that takes like 3 minutes to take off or put on, how people recommend this over any high end traxxas car is beyond any logic, guess some people just want to work on their car for the sake of working on it...
Be a chum and run them on 6S. Traxxas Sledge is a 6S machine, so is the Kraton. This comparison is like driving a Ferrari in a parking lot.
yeah he says at the start he only has matched 4s packs, they run good on 4s for the tests he was doing, defiantly better for cutting laps
Sledge being heavier and having a slower turn ratio makes it more controlable I guess... Kraton is lighter and quicker, so any mistake and you are out of the track
Kraton is not quicker, I own both, 6s on both stock the sledge is so much faster, honestly the sledge is overall the better truck in my opinion.

You ever heard of the Traxxas link? For the steering, you get the ap and Bluetooth Module and you can adjust endpoints and steering sensitivity. Problem solved.

Very biased lap time test. You pushed the Kraton to the limit and restarted when you crashed. You never pushed the Traxxas and took it easy enough to not crash. Of course you are going to get better times on the Kraton 🤦🏻♂️
No the traxxas is just slower especially with slow steering servo and the speed and acceleration on traxxas is slower. And traxxas is heavier and doesn’t handle or pitch as well in the turns
The Arrma Kraton EXB is not a RTR if you want to compare RC'S and be fare the Armma Kraton 6s v5 RTR would be the choice !!!!!!

The Kraton exb will handle more abuse since nearly the whole truckis made of 7075 alloy, while the Traxxas car only has 6061 alloy. I own both a bunchof competition cars and some rtr cars. Most of my competition cars who all use 7075alloy have nearly never bent any parts, but the rtr cars with 6061 alloy..omg they have been ruined nearly 4 times as often. Traxxas know to rob people for money, even if this truggy from traxxas use 6061 alloy they cost about the same as the Kraton. Traxxas takes their head way over the water with prices...
both are great i definitely love them both but I think the traxxas was way cleaner on the track .. you definitely drove the kraton with more throttle on the back end.. I don't see how the kraton won on the track when it crashed and was not clean at all . if It was a real race with that result traxxas wins hands down

Its up to the driver to learn and control his/her vehicle in the given track conditions. The kraton out the box, is more capable on the track, even if the sledge is more forgiving.
The fastest lap means it's the faster car.
Say in Formula 1 qualifying, you get pole position by posting the fastest lap.

@@v65sabreking that comes down to the driver and the car. If he crashes in the first lap, then yes, he won't get pole. If he crashes after he posts the fastest lap, then he still gets pole. If he doesn't crash and posts the fastest lap, he gets pole. You put the best racing driver in the world in a Mini Cooper and race them against the average racing driver in a V8 Supercar, who is going to win?
Really a no Brainer. You couldn't really controll the Kraton compared tot he sledge.

I think this was a bit of an unfair test. And the Sledge comes complete and is set up from the factory and the EXB you have to put after market parts in it to get it going. And the Sledge seemed a whole lot more stable because of it being complete and set up from the factory. Now if you wanted to make it fair put the same parts into the Sledge that you have in the EXB and you will have a more fair test.
What he has in his kraton is basically stock form those are rtr stock electronics

The Kraton doesn't even come with electronics so why are you comparing the servo speeds? Also the Sledge was way more stable and controllable, in the real world it's faster than the Kraton around a track, the Kraton crashed and restarted 4-5 times.
Kraton was clearly worse on track and you were on the throttle more on the back strait.
I can't believe after 5 generations of Kraton, traxxas finally caved and made a kraton as well 😅

LoL I’ve proven the earth is flat many times, it rolls like a ball which proves it! 😂😂 I’ve actually been out there no camera and the Kraton just eats up the Sledge over and over.

In all seriousness a tuned kraton would demolish the sledge around the track. With Tekno shock springs, heavier shock oil, truggy tires, open diffs with 7k/10k/5k diff oils. It would not even be close. A tuned Talion would own both of them...
Traxxas wins hands down in a real race. There isn't a oh let me start over.
Sledge is a lot more refined and tuned better.

Totally biased. You favored the Kraton. You drove the Kraton more aggressively on the laps. The Kraton crashed several times which makes the Sledge the clear winner. In a race with two different drivers, the Sledge would have lapped the Kraton. It's obvious. I get the feeling you are sponsored.

I will take a arrma and make you and you're traxxas look like it's your first time driving a rc on a track . Practice makes you better drivervmore than any comparable brands . @@paulclancy2404 Exo is an awesome guy and I watch his vids every day. Sledge is designed for Skate Parks. Kraton is designed for tracks. Watch #OutsourcedRC and #RCDriver Sledge vids and you will see the only thing these RC have in common is they are both truggy designs.

I am thinking about buying one of these monster truggies. I know Traxxas has been around since the 80s and are a reputable brand. The Arrma rtr is 200 cheaper. To me it looks like Arrma just blatantly copied the Sledge and that is shady af. For this reason I think it is justified spending 200 more on the sledge. Nobody likes a copy cat. Traxxas should sue Arrma for copying their design. I mean come on! They look almost identical!!!
