So will this make a good race truck or is it just for the bashing. take it to that track. you COULD race it. i've seen Talions being raced, Kratons, etc. not sure what the spots are like in your neck of the woods but here in Central Texas, i can't even wave from a BMX track without having a bike.
You could race the Sledge. I recommend tires suited for your local track, and if you wanted to be fancy, lighten the diff and shock fluid for supple track performance. Depending on your track crowd you may be in for endless jokes and teasing, or it may go unnoticed. Do you think you'll do more bashing or racing? You could also buy a proper race truggy that could double as a basher. -Brett

Bought a sledge. Its a lot of fun, but the foam fell apart on the tires after 5 runs and i keep loosing a screw pin. The screw pin is $3.50 for a pack of 6, but traxxas wants $65 to ship them to Canada. I asked their support about just throwing it in an envelope, and they told me if i didn't want to pay the $65 that i should go search the field for the screw. They had a lot of smart ass responses. Completely unreasonable, support is terrible and listen to the other reviewers who say they won't buy traxxas ever again.
Not alot of room to go bigger, yes tires and dog bone issue, and something eles to check ur mesh, motor may slip, not sure not all the time but it is not easy to readjust if the mess is off motor mount is In The way, bit it looks solid, is it to solid though??? Is vibration running to fewer give points??? Just thinking out loud
I like my 6s Kraton but I think the Sledge has better diffs and some other parts. Body braced on the inside in very nice unlike using a tower by the center diff.
Tires blow out with stock power setup? Still looks better than that ERevo2 I sold off as soon as I could get a sucker to buy at half my cost investment. Still not into plastic chassis' and still prefer Arrma for rebuild accessibility. Edit: RCDude threw the lid even being reworked but to be expected after making it best with upgrades for plastic chassis and a real power plant 1:8 scale contender.
Honestly I've never liked stock traxxas tires because they always suck on my specific type of dirt. I usually nuke them and switch to proline badlands which offer way more traction than any short nub on a traxxas tire. Otherwise I like my traxxas stuff.
Normally i'm with you but I love these Sledgehammer tires. And honestly, we've pulled tires off wheels with almost every brand it happens, so we can't dock off points for that. -Brett
This truck is built tough, no doubt about that but the powertrain leaves a ton to be desired. At least in its stock form. Very rough driving extremely loud truck that surges and cogs like no tomorrow. Not nearly as smooth as Arrma and Team Corally systems. I tried very hard to like this vechile. So much so that I bought 2 of them at different times. The first one suffered a catastrophic failure on my thrid time using it. The second one was so loud it was completely undrivable. Traxxass needs to make some refinements to get to Arrma and Team Corallys level in terms of 6s. Hard to imagine because the Maxx is such a pleaure to drive yet this one which is more expensive, has a flawed motor in it.

arrma kraton wouldnt survive this first hit on pavement....
@@runnerbabaof course it won't it's an arrma Traxxas will run out of battery before it even breaks
I can see us buying a lot of replacement tires because they balloon way to much. that glue will not last long.
Why didn't you talk about how it drove with the other tires n wheels you had on it?
IDK, just forgot, there is so much to say and mention, things get forgotten. Those were Sweep Road Crusher tires and they do not work well on the truck, the offset is too narrow, leading to the wheel hitting/rubbing the steering link. We just didn't notice it until later on.

@@AMain_Hobbies thank you
That's insane! That truck needs some belted tires. They seem like they balloon real easy. I'll wait a little to see if they make any improvements.
I m watching you from Germany and I must say you need to make more videos. I like your videos.
Schöne Grüße aus Deutschland
Grüße! Danke für die Nachricht und wir werden weitere Videos machen!

just ordered a blue 1 from Amain yesterday /Awesome video
Great review. Debating on getting a Sledge or a Jato 3.3. Thanks for putting this together.
I think its a fun platform. Would be nice if the servo was better. Replacing that adding droop screws and possibly sway make this a $900 rc easy before tax. I really hope it holds up as Trugs are a blast
Plastic servo?
Thanks for sharing. Just found u I am brand new again was in it 30 years ago my god things have changed wow. Waiting for my sledge to come in
Excellent! It's going to feel great holding that transmitter again! Hopefully it arrives soon, and congratulations on the new Sledge; it's awesome!
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies got it yesterday as I learned from watching utube I tighten every bolt except gear on driver fell off 1 minute into run so I put back on and it happen again so I re locktited it so we will see today
860 after tax and 50 for a decent servo...
No thanxxs.
My slash keeps going, my nephew ran it into curbs like 10 times at full speed no issues.
We've cracked 2 chassis in half already
@@CheeseOnEverything Someone needs to learn how to drive😂
8:16 if this had been the E-Revo 2.0 crashing like this, stuff would have broken hands down.
I agree
Here’s a question. Here where I live we have a rc race track and everybody races 1/8 scale truck, buggy, truggys This is a outdoor track. So will this make a good race truck or is it just for the bashing. I only ask bc I’m looking to get into the race side of the hobby and looking for a great vehicle to race with out in the dirt on the track
take it to that track. you COULD race it. i've seen Talions being raced, Kratons, etc. not sure what the spots are like in your neck of the woods but here in Central Texas, i can't even wave from a BMX track without having a bike.
-Brett
At the moment I do a lot of bashing but would love to get into the racing scene of of hobby soon
@@sebastianhawpe812 you could try the tlr typhon, just a typhon that’s been tuned by Losi to be able to race as well as bash
Everybody wanted the Erevo when it first came out when I was a kid and the Traxxas sledge came out so now I want one real bad as an adult.
@Text Me ①⑧⓪⑤⑦⑤①⑨⑥⑧① Scammer.
Got mine 5 days ago :). It's not unbreakable but so far seems more durable than my kraton exb. Waiting on a wing mount, rear body mount (protector over shock tower snapped off), front hinge pin and a rear hub captured pin so far. Pin backed out in the front center drive cup as well. Luckily had another that fit.
That's awesome you got one I'm thinking about getting one do you think it's worth it
Thumbs up for using metric units! thanks
Amazing video!! Where do I get the battery clips? My sledge didn’t come with them
Thanks for another great vid. I enjoy my E Revo 2.0 so much, Im just getting one of these based on that. Pick up tmro, yes!!
So it comes with pretty much all of the upgrades I did to my Maxx but for less money... Thanks Traxxas.
Awesome review Brett! The Sledge looks like the best 6s truggy!
Besides the EXB lineup that has actually better materials, easier to work on, and 50 dollars cheaper
@@thatmarred_mustang nah the sledge has 10x better materials stock
@@tysemilicia3931 6061 chassis vs 7075? Stamped aluminum shock towers vs CNCa machined? Plastic chassis braces and links vs cnc machined 7075 aluminum and stainless steel? HA! Don't make me laugh.
@@thatmarred_mustang the trash a arms tho are like made of cheap China platic
@@tysemilicia3931 coming from someone who works in a RC shop, the Arrma arms hold up better then Erevo arms. "Cheap China plastic" where do you think traxxas gets their plastics from?
Way back in the day in a long long time ago Traxxas had a truck called the sledgehammer. Which is where the tires get their name and possibly where this truck gets its inspiration
Now that you mention it, I remember that! Wasn't it a Stadium Truck/Monster Truck with white plastics and 2wd?
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies yes it was Brett it even had eight oil-filled shocks in a lot of ways it was kind of like their first basher
@@christophermears7738 Yeah, I remember! You're totally right. Thanks for sharing that.

The fact that they finally made a basher that doesn't break
ya know traxxas is like the apple of rc
I am looking for an upgrade from my JLB Cheetah, and this looks like the one. However, I am not a fan of ballooning tires. I would order some belted tires along with it. What is your opinion of venting your own tires? Thanks for keeping us informed on all the latest gizmos and gadgets. Love your channel...
Looks like a Tyco from the 90's !
Sorry but if you really want to spend that kinda money for a basher ? Please just get an Aarma!
The quality/control is great! Along with customer support.
Ramp jumping on pavement is not a problem, IF!!! you do not use a kick-up ramp. Using a normal wedge ramp is fine. You will have to learn some technique to get the best distance or height on the same ramp.
Bought mine from you guys and got it today!
Awesome! Congrats on the new Sledge and let us know if you need anything. Enjoy!
I wanna thank Amain and Charlotte for rewarding me with a FREE Traxxas Sledge!
I will not be ordering any RC products from anywhere else again.
Nice, I wonder if Traxxas will release it as a Roller version, with the Up-Grades included. Like the Kraton EXB. 🤞🏼🤞🏼
That would be cool!
-Brett
Do you have a similar video on the Maxx 2.0
New subscriber here. Great Videos man! Good production quality, informative, and entertaining. I don't even have an RC car!
Great, glad you enjoy the videos and thanks for letting us know. Hope you get yourself an r/c car soon too!

Traxxas sledge turned 9inch grinder. Lol that back wheel
You guys should put a set of proline hole shots on it and see how it performs on the track.
The truck would rip on that track! I tried to get a set of Proline truggy tires from a local driver but we couldn't make it happen in the end.
-Brett
😆Here it is again, with Pizzia cutter tire's in a Blow- Up!😅 (Too Much Power to Handle!😉)
@Text Me ①⑧⓪⑤⑦⑤①⑨⑥⑧① yeah , right 🙄I have no plans getting one, probably on birthday or Christmas, nice try.😝
-Brett
Our first drive, made it fifteen minutes and the pinion gear fell off. Otherwise, it was a beast!
Imagine if a full size car could actually do all this flipping and flying and still drive home now that’s a car I’d own
Bad design underside of chassis, that protruding gear is bound to pick up dirt, how hard would it have been to make a cover for it?
Great review!! 👍
Aluminum Sucks it burns unless they have enough bracing hard plastic as a way to go but maybe they figured it out?
