Chevy Restoration Project - Sandblasting the Frame
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 січ 2025
- In this video we do a first attempt of sandblasting the frame of our Chevy 3/4 ton pickup project. We had some difficulties using the machine and we ended up sending the frame to a sandblasting specialist. Here's the process
This should be titled... “watching me try to fix my equipment”.
Trying to blast with less than 30-40cfm is a pia
literally all I wanted to see was the frame being sandblasted and this has none of it...
Sorry dude, I tried lol
LMFAOOO
I like that he shows the REALITY of how these projects go sometimes.
Hey man, I appreciate the effort. Sometimes Mr. Murphy shows up and things don't go as planned. Thanks for keeping it real!
I think the title of this video should be "Can't make a sand blaster work".
Lol. As a person who does a bit of sand blasting, i knew you were doomed when you said there was a bunch of junk in the bottom of the blaster. And then went ahead with dumping new stuff on top of that lol.
This taught me, don't be lazy! Always clean al the old shit out of the bottom of the hopper. Now to go and find a video on sandblasting haha
I got a 72 c10. I ended up wire wheeling the whole frame front to back. Punched out every rivet. Took about 3 weeks at 2 hours a day to completely clean and paint. Now it's a complete rolling frame
Are you using a drill for the wire wheel or a grinder ?Im doing both on my 72k10
@@patroberts4708 both. Grinder for outside of frame and crossmembers and drill for the inside of it all. Good thing I punched out all the rivets my rear frame section had layers of rust between the frame and crossmembers
Thanks for the video on how not to sand blast. Not really what I was looking for.
Never said I was showing you how to sandblast lol
I've been looking for a truck for two months, and no lie that frame looks more solid than anything I've seen in the 2000-2010 range. Trucks are tight these days.
Sandblasting starts at 7:40 guys
This was actually helpful, seeing what problems you may run into.
Very nice work my friend
Sand doesn’t cut enough for decent cleanup but gives you plenty of silica. Use coal slag or glass, also use a moisture trap.
Dear Sir, a question : When a rivet is removed, replace it with a bolt with a Grower washer and nut and once placed and adjusted, crush the end of the bolt against the nut with a hammer. What is your opinion ? Thanks !
You don't need a rivet, a simple bolt and nut is fine
How many bags did it take of sand how much money did it cost in sand and how many CFM does that thing put out how long did it take to actually complete all this and what size compressor
As soon as I saw you outside I knew it had to be the Vancouver area. Got a subscriber now!
" stir up the old shit with the new shit " I appreciate the way you said that
How much did it cost you to have the frame and associated pieces sandblasted when you sourced it out?
Should be called fixing my buddy's sandblaster.
he didnt even do that much 😂 they bought a new blaster then decided to send the sandblasting to another shop 😂🤣
So my boyfriend is restoring an old 1950's Ford truck. His birthday is coming up and I would like to get him a sand blaster, something on the larger side since the peices he has to do are the hood/doors. What should I get him?
He would probably want something like this www.tenaquip.com/product/king-canada-pressure-abrasive-sandblasters-ksb-10-tma003
The sandblasting unit itself is not of such high importance in the process. You could have one for under 150$. the only major difference is size, but that only determines how often you will need to fill it with blasting media. What you want to focus on is your compressor, and if you want to comfortably work on bigger car parts like hood and doors it should probably be one providing around 800-1000 liters per minute. Make sure compressor is suitable, then sandblasting reservoir and a good amount of nozzle tips :)
Don't buy harbor freight piece of shit bought for 70 invested 60 into it didn't work put 30 more tips then 20 on hoses still don't work clogs up fast had the valves drilled out 30 apiece don't know what else to try different mieda still don't work guy was sell a professional plaster for 300 should have gone that rout
@@EliteTruckRepairs That is the same unit he was using.
Silica sand is the worst blast media - for you & for the metal - use crushed glass. You also need Air to blast - a LOT of air. If it's got a plug, it ain't gonna blast anything much - it needs to have a diesel motor. If it has a quick-coupler - ditto. Blasters use twist-couplers on big 3/4" or 1" hose.. The nozzle you're using is also chunk - it eats its own shut-off every time you operate the action. Bit by bit, but usually pretty quickly - you need a big get-lost valve that kills the air. Hoover is yer pal for emptying the crud out of the blast-pot, but it's all moot as shop-air won't blast a whole lot of anything for long. At 100cfm you're getting started, but 140 or 170 cfm is better. That's a tow-compressor./
"Finally, the frame have been sand blasted".
Me: WTf, how did I miss the clip. 👀
The fact you identified the problem before you had the problem. Then said fuck it then had a problem is what’s the real problem😂
Fuck im gonna post a video called "Driving my car" but itll just be me sitting on the couch eating a fucking hot dog. Holy shit.
You always have to make sure your equipment is working well I've had a few sandblasters the last one I think I had was a cyclone and it was heavy duty I think a cyclone tornado or something like that very good machine about $1,000 machine but you got to have the right compressor and you got to have a good hose and good ends cuz it'll where the ends out fast like your brass ball valves that you buy from Home Depot you got to have a real heavy duty one all that cheap shift does not work always makes your equipment's good because that safety also you could have pulled that line and at thing bursted at a hundred fifty pounds in your face be careful my man and good luck
This is pure and real life. You have to fix $hit before you fix $hit.
Ah the ol classic 'Bait and Switch' video.
Did you dry the air?
CLICK BAIT
There is no actual sandblasting occurring in this video. LAZY!!!
Haha come on over too my channel plenty of blasting mick blackley sandblaster 👍
@Benny Orellana at the end that's blasted nice job to be fair but it's a bit click bate saying sandblasting when he don't actually do any blasting 😂 come on over to my channel I upload POV sandblasting videos 👌
Should be titled “Working on a sandblaster”.
Watching these videos is as frustrating to watch as p""n movies. I was hoping to seem some sandblasting and instead I had to do quick scroll and turns out there were no action 😵
How long did it take to sand blast everything?
It took me about four days to sandblast my 61 short bed. About 6 hour a day. Just dry double sifted crusher sand. I would gather up the sand that I could and screen it through a kitchen dome mesh screen. Just make sure that it is completely dry.And get rid of any and all of the oily crap on the frame .
Por 15 right on the bare metal
It was really great experimental job but the problem is that the frame won't fit enough to reinstall n restore in the vehicle. The corroded part are too many n nobody s are dare enough to allowed the vehicle to be use on the road. Great effort n you can now probabbly start to think of selling the metals to the recycle center.
When blasting. Always check Nozzle first for a stuck rock. Ive learned over my experience.
Fixing trucks right the first time?
Thanks for time loss.
No sandblasting machine was harmed during the making of this video.
could you turn up the music?
what brand are the coveralls
This prime sample how lazy people work twice.
Gotta sift that sand..even the new stuff at times.you should prime that immediately after blasting ..
minus for the noise / music
Lucky you,my man, the 2010+ Chevy frame is unsandble? Hahaha
Title should read, sandblasting troubleshooting
Need much bigger tow behind compressor with 1” hose
Titles video "Sandblasting the Frame"
Doesn't show sandblasting the frame
haaaaa you should have vacuumed that crud out of the bottom. probably hardened rite up like cement. hows that saying and Ounce of prevention LOL?
Always screen your sand there is always little rocks
Why not get ready first, before filming a video?
Move along nothing here to see no sandblasting shall commence today
Should've emptied it out from the start. Lol
Lot of people knocking you but things happen you were just anxious to get on video so it's all good man stuff happens but you're getting it done that's the main perspective
Farming it our may have saved his life.
Time I will never get back
WTB Video of metal being sandblasted. Next time try recording that and then posting it.
You should title the video, trying to sandblast 😂
This would not have been as funny if i had not been through the exact same BS. 🤣
Do NOT use sand people - use other SAFER approved grit - read up on silicosis of the lungs caused from sandblasting. It is also illegal to use sand in most of the civilised world. Have a safe and nice day all.
just going to send it...LMAO
Great..
This shows " how to prep your equipment before you make a video on UA-cam "
Sandblasting the frame??
That’s a frame sandblasted. That’s different
Painting a house is different than a house already painted
What are you on about
Hope it aint time and materials!!
Hey, at least this guy started the video by saying "this is my first time trying this". How many videos out there clearly have no clue but try to come across as "training" or "how to". I knew it was over when he actually SAW debris in the bottom of the blaster and, like a lazy ass - lol, poured the bag in anyway - without screening. LMAO! I knew it was OVER! Don't ask me how I know though - lol. I couldn't even finish the video. It was too painful to watch - lol. You only try to half-ass it once with sandblasting. If you know, you know. Follow a procedure and don't cut corners.
Carry on.
Moral of the story, if you are going to use used equipment " CLEAN IT OUT FIRST" !!!! just absolute stupidity to do what he did!!!!
Video starts at 7:45
Jesus Christ I am blocking this YT account after this crap… So much yapping for no reason
This actually hurt to watch . Some people should just not be allowed to touch equipment. All I can say is FAIL !!!!!
8 minutes in to the video and you still haven't done anything...
Well that sucked....lol
Did over 500 simi trailers. Not fun. Sand in my ass. So dirty. Replace alot of google lens. And rubber hoses eating up and gun worn out alot. I quit job
Very disappointing!
The title is misleading, and therefore clickbait.
When you use the equipment without cleaning it out beforehand, my shop teachers would have just sidelined you for the rest of the term.
You can do much better than what I have observed. Title your videos as to what they actually are, not something to entice people to view.
You can do better work. Do it!
What is with the loud ass music! all of you tubers think we need it - Fact it just pisses people off, Me if I want to hear music I would watch a music video!
It's cheaper to pay somebody to do it
Muy malo el video de verdad mucho hablar y nada ???
Waste of our time
Should be called how not to fix a sh1tty sandblaster…

Waste of time
Is this a joke? Why would anyone watch someone this incompetent? Embarrassing.
