Absolutely amazing they were fantastic photos I will be proud to have them on my wall always wanted to have a good days by think it’s above my pay grade thanks very much for sharing I have subscribed to see more of this I don’t think you’re disappointed once again thank you🎉❤
Well made video. Being a DSLR user, I rarely use my iPhone for images, but that you for showing what can be done with a cellphone. Fantastic final result.
image looks gorgeous! i have dabbled in light painting over the yrs, nothing this fabulous though 😅 Stupid question but please enlighten me🙏🏼☺️ how did you do this on your iphone??? am i missing something in the within the phone camera settings to have it keep a shutter open ?!! OR was this done on your phone but by using a different camera app that install onto your ph ??! I have a camera that will allow me to do this by putting it in the bulb mode, but I would love to know how to do it on my phone camera too!! can not recall a ‘bulb’ type setting on my ph cam-
Quite interesting. I have done quite a bit of ' light painting ' with still life photography, but mostly to compensate for the shadows and balance the lighting, as I use window lighting and film. Might have to give this a go. Thank you.
Yes, I stopped photographing Human models as they are just way too unpredictable in showing up and so many other problems. Still Life Photography is like bullet proof and you can do it at any time of the day !
no problem at all. Also, I am just about to buy pen light/torch. Any specific one you recommend? Cheap one from Chiana is ok to buy? @@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_EVERYWHERE
Wonderful images. Although they look very simple to create my instinct is that this is analogous to real painting and is a highly creative process. I have to give it a try.
What application do you use in your smartphone, in which the part of the object that you illuminated with a flashlight remains illuminated on the smartphone screen? When shooting on camera, I shoot blindly and do a lot of takes.
Have you tried live subjects that will hold still for you? Or adding a light source for a short duration, like a lit candle? Also, what torch are you using? Can it be dialed in with different colors? Nice color choice of vase, btw.
ahh yes to all those questions. Actually check out my light painting basics video I go over many of these items. Hope it helps and thanks for watching...
Hey thanks for watching. Well I use the application slow shutter that does alot of the magic. You basically put it in bulb mode and does all that for you. If you are curious on the setting you can check out my basics in light painting video where I go over some of the tools. Thanks again.
ahh depends on your camera. I have some videos on which cameras do the best. Olympus, panasonic, iphone all show the build up. I think pentax as well. Others have the bulb mode which is more difficult. Also thanks for watching.
I enjoyed your video very much! Could you provide a little info on how you were controlling your exposure with your camera? Were you using 'bulb' mode? How about your aperture? I would assume you kept your ISO on manual, probably set at 100? Thanks in advance!
Sorry, I missed your question. So I do have a video on my settings for the iphone just an FYI.... Quick summary,, turn the setting on bulb, iso to 32 ish, view, save image and refine it. Hope this helps.
Hi. what lumens is your light pen please? I purchased a small flashlight that was 350 lumens... and it was way to bright as I couldn't find any light pens at stores near me :(
yea, not sure , i just use a small light pen not very powerful as i have a bunch of different ones and use the camera to adjust to how powerful the light is going to be. It is a dance between iso and powerful time exposure of the light. Hope that helps but any small light pen will work.
Hi. I would like to try this tutorial. I would like to know... is it just a regular bed sheet you are using? cotton? polyester? does it have a sheen? Does that matter? what size? thank you :)
ahh yes, so regular sheet just big enough to cover the subject probably a double size. Cotten no sheen and even then if it does have a sheen I would not think it would matter but not sure. Hope this helps.@@jacquelinemartin9793
well you can check out my light painting basics video as that explains alot of the settings. Quick Snapshot Bulb mode, iso 24 or 32, light trails setting. That should get you pretty close.
I love your work! I seem to get light spills. Do you turn the light out at different parts of the image? I’m doing something wrong. I want to paint like you!🤪 Thanks!
hmm that is a touch call it takes practice. Watch where the light goes and if in doubt use less and slowly build it up. At first it goes fast then it slows down as small changes make a big difference in the end. Hope this helps.
Debbie, I have a bunch of different types of light. This was just a little pen light. If you want my Light Painting basics explains and shows different once that make things a bit more clear. Hope this helps thanks for watching.
Hey a few different ways to do this. I have a light painting basics video you should watch. This describes different brands for watching the exposure.Olympus, panasonic, pentax have certain models that allow this. Canon/Nikon have a hybrid. Might be a future video.
@@DarthGold yep, might be multiple parts because of a ton of information. The cameras that do and do not allow you to see the exposure live in real time is a lot of information. Thanks for tuning in.
Very interesting results! Which app do you use for this on your iPhone? Light painting might not be for me (as I'm more into 4x5 pinhole photography on film), but maybe I could try something like a "hybrid" process at one time (using the iPhone to get an idea of where I am in the process, while taking the exposure on film).
Yea, it is called slow shutter. I have another video that goes over alot of the settings and color stuff. The light painting basics video will give you alot of information. Also thanks for watching.....
@@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_EVERYWHERE Thanks! I already have Slow Shutter on my iPhone, but it was a long time ago that I had used it (as in - many years, I had an iPhone 4S at this time 😁). Some progress since back then, as it seems. I'll have a look at your light painting basics video.
Light painting could even be a solution for my low sensitivity "problem" with pinhole photography. I thought about using more powerful LED lights (could get quite expensive really quick ;-)), but using a powerful flashlight/torch might be much better (I already have one that's quite bright, and there are much more powerful ones out there).
@@c.augustin yea, many times the options are endless. I have studio flash but if I can get a nice photograph with just a small light and no setup why not ???
Jim, thanks for watching. Yea if you could take a look at my light painting basics video it does explain the application. The setting are hard to describe because they change with the light used that is hard to explain.. But to be save just say lowest ISO, light bulb mode, lowest sensitive settings.
I have some questions. I love this video. However, I would like to know a few things? What is the exposure for this long exposure? Is this a one shot session or do you have several exposures and stack them? How can you see exactly what portion of the shot you have already painted? I love your photography so much. You inspired me!
Hey ajrose, yea please watch my basics in light painting it covers most that and more. I get many questions like you asked and that video should cover them... Also thanks for watching and the kind words.
I love it, the flows and the gentle feel of the composition. Thank you for the ideas, I’d love to be able to do something like that. I esp like that your phone camera shows the progress, how does it do that? My Canon camera live view is in total darkness until I finish shooting (bulb mode) and I have no idea how it looks until I am done shooting and look at the image in playback. Can you explain how is the phone camera able to show the image progressively? 🤗
Second time looking at this. Absolutely wonderful work. I love this photo so much. Congratulations
