    You are a great teacher! I appreciate the step by step process (taking photos for each step) with an explanation for each adjustment and how it'll impact the next photo. You don't jump to the perfect setup from the beginning, so I can learn how to trouble-shoot my own process and images. I appreciate the time you invest in each video.

    I recently began with still life, but have been a photographer since the early 1950's. I thought I was doing acceptably well until I began watching your videos. Your attention to detail is helping me significantly. Thank you.

    Great video! I always love whenever I get a notification from you. And i have learned so much.
    One thing that I particularly think it's great is how the videos exist by themselves, so anyone can watch any video and it will make sense. Every beginning you describe the equipment, and takes the black picture to check for the house lights. And I wouldn't change a single thing about it.
    Also, as a suggestion/request, I would love to see your style on a black and white picture. I'm curious if/how the lack of color changes how you thought process in the setup.

      That's a good idea, I will give it some thought and put a video together in the near future.

    Great video, again. Which stand you use for the lamp in the foreground ?

      The front studio flash is supported on a retort stand, sometimes referred to as a lab stand. Hope that helps, thanks for watching.

    Hi,
    Ik really like this video.
    There is one thing I want to ask you.
    Would it be possible to make a still life with continuous lighting?
    This is the way I usually work.
    Greetings from the Netherlands,
    Antoine.

    • @Mr69beetle
      @Mr69beetle 9 місяців тому

      Yes, you can make still life photos using continuous lighting. But instead of using a fast shutter speed to eliminate ambient light, you need to make your work space dark so you can use longer shutter speeds. I believe this channel made a video using a flashlight and a plastic bag to light a still life of apples.

      One issue with a continuous light is freezing motion the way a strobe does. If you use a longer shutter speed you will end up with a blurred reflection like waterfall shots taken with longer exposures. That might look quite nice, though.

    this is the first of your videos that I have seen and I will certainly take a look at some of the others. Can I ask a question...? A friend of mine collects knives and he has asked me to photograph them but I'm not sure what backgrounds to use.....He wants them on white but should I use white reflectors all around or black ones.....? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    • @CameraClubLive
      @CameraClubLive  9 місяців тому +2

      It would be dependent upon any detail in the blade of the knife you could always use something like a 216 defusing film off to one side to make a gradient across the subject. thanks for watching.

    Do you have a link for the small stand? And what attachment did you use to place the light in them? Thank you so much!

    • @CameraClubLive
      @CameraClubLive  9 місяців тому +1

      The stand is just a normal retort stand/lab stand, I got one from Amazon. The light was attached with a small length of 15mm aluminium tubing.
      Thanks for watching.

    I am looking to start shooting flash. What kind of flash would you recommend for someone on a budget?

    • @CameraClubLive
      @CameraClubLive  9 місяців тому +1

      Just a speed light if your budget is very tight, it will suffice.
