Its a very popular problem with our monteros where the engine wont turn, or even try crancking unless you put it on NEUTRAL. Well this has worked fo rme on my Monteros here but now when you cant access the truck and are trying to fix it ove the phone makes it very hard. Thanks again bud
Hola Amigo espero te encuentres bien, If it only cranks when the trans is in neutral, then there seem to be an issue with the transmission range switch. What year is your Montero in Mexico?
Thanks for your video. Very informative and glad to see Monti gurus helping out with issues. How do i replace my key transponder? How will i go about this? Mines just started with issue #1 2002 montero limited 3.5 thanks, any feedback will be appreciated.
I have the same problem but i have fuel and spark and the engine does turn over but will not run i have replaced the spark plugs and spark plug Leeds and replace cam sensor and crank angle sensor i also have compression there is one more note that I want to add to this when i take out the spark plugs and blow out the cylinders and then put them back in it will run for a but or cough and then try to restart it then there is nothing then I have tried to spray start your bastard and still won't fire but only will run once I take the plugs out and clean it out the cylinders every time than it will run and it does smell like there is a lot of fuel this is doing my head in and I like your video it does help out gonna do some more testing tomorrow hopefully can you also do a cam sensor test aswell thank you and if any help will be appreciate
Jim, I have an over 20yo Montero and I'd like to get ahead of the dead battery in the key problem. Outside of going to a dealer or a lock smith to get a replacement key is there any other way to do it? I have both keys... so are we saying that after that battery in the key dies the key is no longer usable and needs to be replaced with a new key? Thanks for helping all of us!
Hi! My Montero has no crank, battery is perfect. Is it possible that the key battery is dead? If yes, is there a cheap way to replace the battery inside the key? Thank you!!!
what year and model is your Montero? The immobilizer system does not cause a NO CRANK condition. Could be an issue with the starting system make sure the S terminal at the starter has B+ while the key is the crank position.
I replaced the fuel pump and now the car won’t start 9v to the fuel pump 😢 makes no dam sense. Old fuel pump worked, tested new pump works. New battery aswell, I need help 😢 looking to pay an expert 😂

Thanks! yes, you have to replace the key and get it reprogrammed. Many after market companies do this.

I have a 2000 Montero sport 3.0. It has a little clatter which i suspect is the timing tensioner is weak.

I have a 2001 Montero Sport and I replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, sparks and wires and still cranking and sometimes starts right up
I have a 02 montero sport the fuel pump does not come on when you turn the key, an no spark
thank you very much my montero starts alright but does not ramp up the first few seconds anymore

yes, once the internal batt is dead the key is useless.
Where did you get that fuel pump diagram I have a 2006 Montero not starting it cranks but no start and can’t hear pump come on

I just recently changed valve cover gasket, spark plugs, wires, and oil. Now I can’t get it to start up. Crank, but no start. Any ideas?
just follow the basic rules and see what's missing. fuel spark etc...

In Europe usually those cars are diesel. In USA, gasoline or diesel?
In the US, Gas is more common but diesels are also available
I got a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant es with no spark
Same basic diagnostic steps still apply. check crank sensor input the PCM and stuff like that

9v to the pump while cranking might be normal depending on the B+ while cranking. but, also check the ground to the pump.
My Pajero io 4G94 model engine runs and stop after 20 minutes. I change fuel pump and spark plugs but still the same.
When it shuts off and it wont restart, what is it missing? Spark, fuel, ect...

This thing starts sometimes and then doesn’t and sounds like” it hydrolocks “sometimes”
I let sit for a while
Boom starts with no fixing anything
Must be electrical
It’s a valve noise ticking, needs to be replaced the valve lifters
It depends, sometimes it just the oil not getting to the top end.
