      @@wgyu1218 Good insight, here. If they can confuse people enough by saying he’s crazy, maybe they can still keep inflating the fees and parts charges. Never imagined that there’d be a focused campaign to make someone this goodhearted, honest, and helpful look bad. We should have known that might be the REAL aim behind so many sarcastic attacks. A few beers too many, from some of the hogwash that’s been written against Scotty’s videos. Thank you for pointing it out! There’s a saying: “You must be over the target if you’re attracting hellfire.” 🙂💕

    The way he outlines problums and ways of going about fixing them is a treat. Makes me wounder why our society does not pay people like this what they need for working in a shop. I'm $900 into a starter problem and feel dumb not being able to fix it my self or fined someone like him. Good job man for all the good vids.

      Finding a good mechanic who actually knows how to and bothers to diagnose problems instead of doing expensive experiments with adding or changing parts is as hard as finding a doctor who can and will diagnose and treat, not just throw pills at you.

    This is the kind of information we wish was in owner's manuals. Important stuff. I had a no start because there was a neutral safety switch (at least that's what I think it was) that was on the transmission. I had moved it out of position (and it was a bit loose anyway) when I was connecting a back up light switch connection that kept falling off. Good think that this problem showed up about that time, or I wouldn't have known what to do. The thing was loose and could have changed position at any time. I had to rotate it to where it worked and then had to tighten it in that position. Also, don't forget to check spark plug gap. If it's got worn plugs they might not spark. That happened to me and a shop charged me $1500.00 and still didn't fix the problem. Turned out to be worn plugs. When you get older "just a few years ago" can turn into about a decade, so beware of that also.

    I've check some videos on this with other vloggers but so far ur d best coz u give the straight answers, just what we needed to know. 👍👍👍👍👍High respect to u sir, God bless u. U have helped me today. Coz I just had a problem with my wigo,it won't start and not even crancking, and the sad thing is I just had it checked on 25k maintenance check last Jan 8, and it's just a month and this happens, it won't start though I already charged the battery. 🤔 This video helped me. I hope to do it and make it start. 😁

    Thank you very much for your videos.
    I have a Chrysler town and country 2008 that doesn't start all the time, especially in the cool weather .
    When I leave it for sometime it starts and I drive normally.
    The battery is still good.
    Could you mind telling me what's wrong ? I often disconnected the battery and join the two ends for about 10min and connect again and it starts.
    Thank you.

    I was having the same issue with 2009 Nissan Rogue SL
    After i got a call from my wife saying her car wouldn't start ok so i checked it and it had a good Battery it wanted to start but wouldn't....everything on the car was working....tried jump starting it anyway still nothing i heard it all timing chain...starter...alternator and to me none of that made sense so i took off the wheel and when to work and yes indeed after taking off the belt my wife's car did start up. So i checked the ac pulley and it would not move so i took off the clutch and the bearings to the pulley fell out. The compressor did not lock up the pulley did so it prevented the belt from turning. After replacing clutch and pulley as well as the coil on the compressor everything is back working normally i hope this do help someone because it had me lost for words.
    Scotty you rock keep up the great work love your videos.

    How could anyone give this a thumbs down?

    • @DaytonCarCare
      @DaytonCarCare 8 років тому +11

      +cfcreative1 Because most of the symptoms he mentioned are the most common but not always the case. There are other things that could happen to cause a crank no start situation. For example: Some German cars with big engines will not start simply because of a low CCA battery output or failing starter motor. Or most the newer cars have immobilizer that could be at fault. First thing you should do is get a reader or have someone pull the DTCs with a code reader be it OBD2, Vagcom, etc...

      @cfcreative1 8 років тому +10

      +DaytonCarCare I think this guy is brilliant he is giving you theoretical gems.....of course there is going to be the exception to the rule.....

      Just answering someones question of why a few "thumbs down". Not getting into a debate of whether his advise is good or bad.

      BlackHack911
      I didn't say "bad starter" now did I? Please read. I'm talking about low battery amps to starter or starter solenoid. If you know anything about cars with big engines this is definitely a factor. And yes even a bad starter would crank an engine just too slow to produce enough combustion.
      Even if you have spark and fuel if there isn't enough combustion it still wont start.

    Hey It’s called basic 101 mechanics. Scottys terrific. Most of the so called new mechanics ignore the basics. They want to pull out and hookup the computer.

      Those are mentioned in other vids like the o2 sensor where the truck starts then stalls due to faults in the sensor

    • @yournamehere3679
      @yournamehere3679 4 роки тому +5

      Flora Lacusong he should have titled it “how to find a bad crank sensor” watch his “bad fuel pump video” it’s the same exact symptom description of a crank sensor failure and he goes farther into fuel diagnostics in this one, but his “50 years experience” doesn’t once talk about checking to see if the pumps priming before jumping straight into electrical diagnostics 🤷‍♂️ check power at the pump and work your way back to the power source first, saves you 3 hours of determining whether or not the pumps even getting power, not to mention that a vast majority of vehicles will still run and drive close to normal with a bad O2
