The art in this show was really fitting, it makes you hyper-focused on the characters' personalities rather than their physical appearance or quirks
True, unlike modern anime they made the characters look more realistic and bland
@@xkdjdnskdnscndjdj984 Yeah, funny thing is the prettiest characters generally have the least features. Most of the characters are drawn to look repulsive or bland so you focus on their personalities.
Actually I do think the way Johan is drawn represents him as some kind of Lucifer. All the other characters have "expressive" faces and Johan's just too perfect, calm and beautiful... It even gives me uncanny valley vibes.

I find the art amazing! Really far more realistic then today’s anime artworks. Also, we should appreciate the art that is based on the real look of the cities in which the story takes place in.
There are 2 things here, First Roberto went there before Johan and saw the balloon lady and the pill lady, then came Johan and saw the same thing.
This is the reason why Sophie was killed a sufficient time after Johan left so that the balloon lady and the pill lady could see that when the shot was fired Johan was in front of them and is not the killer.
Second, he bought a balloon and gave money to the pill lady to make them remember him in order to create a perfect testimony out of them which he can use as an alibi.
Now this he repeated everywhere. Countless deaths, no trace of Johan.
One of the reasons for him to be the greatest antagonist of all time.

This man is literal proof that not every villain has to be some spawn of darkness, or a rejected outcast with some dark relic or weapon. No, sometimes, the villain is just an ordinary man or woman with a silver tongue and a degree of cunning for a weapon. In Johan's case, his cunning is unique because he can turn people's personalities, flaws and mistakes against them so that he can't even bother to lay a finger on them.
I'm not sure that Johan is just "an ordinary man" but I agree with most of your points
@@diabeticvodka9312 the point of "an ordinary man" is people that have no comical powers/origins that media always portrays (super strength, heat vision, ability to fly etc.)
The crazy thing about monster is it was all possible and plausible at that time in history, it’s actually possible that that could have hypothetically happened, though he is a spawn of darkness, just realistic darkness-nothing mythical and magical yet so much more powerful because of those facts.

The directing of this scene is priceless. The moment when Johan opens the door in sync with Roberto and then when Johan shuts it, it makes u think that the shot was already fired when that actually only happens afterward. But the moment Johan closed the door, blue Sophie was already done for.
Just finished the series and still think that I could watch it all over again to find new angles and approaches to this character, it's not a regular anime character, it is not bound by any stereotype I know. The only thing that I am not fine with (But maybe I missed some information?) is how a young 10 year old child could produce poisoned candy and predict precisely who was going to ingest them.
Then again, it's fiction! Very, very interesting character!
+Name davor Name danach : The book is real explanation, it mean's that we humans are all like nameless monster's, giving each other names so easily because we want to create a name for ourselves, so we can prove our existence, and that with that the jelousy and hate are born, and that one day we will devour each other, it was Johan's very explanation of his goal!
Ivor Savković Like I said, it's just a theory, not my own opinion :)
You're right with that... I always thought his goal was to erase his very existence and too prove his theory about the nature of humanity.
But I also want to know which Monster represents which character in the story, so this theory attracted my attention - the monster split in two and one of them is Tenma. (Also the point Inspektor Runge always thought of this possibilty.)
You seem to know your stuff, so, what's your opinion about the role of the two monsters in the story? Is Anna/Nina one of them? And what does the part with the castle and the young boy named Johan mean?
+Name davor Name danach Well i think if we are talking about the stroy, Nina isnt't one of the monster's in the book neither is Tenma, Johan is both of the monster's, the monster who have gone east is Johan's human side, or you can say that he try to discover it, and the monster who have gone west is Johan's demon side or demon itself, and Nina, Tenma and other are in fact the people in book that lost their names, but it is not the same like in the book because they didn't lost it because of tirst for power but to discover who they really are, and what is their purpose of existing, they come to conclusion that that purpose is to stop Johan, and understand him , and that they will give up their name because of that, and when i said that Johan is the demon itself, i mean it in the way that deamon itself is the creator of this same world in fact, like he is inside of god itself, and those two man in the other book, he are giving them deal's so he can see how are the being's that he created act's, and then he discover's that he is the same as every other normal human, a failure , you no when Johan says in the end that he finally woke up, and that no one should exist in this world anymore, that is why the deamon/Johan in the end wan't to die! and he tryied to take as many people as he can with him so they can see, well it's just my opinion after all!
Ivor Savković and it's a great one ;D

Johan is not evil, he does evil things but that doesn’t necessarily make him an evil person. The manga tries to convince you he’s evil incarnate, only to subvert your perception of him through glimpses of his life. I haven't seen much of this anime. But from watching bits here and there, there are few equivalents to this character. One that is closest is Hannibal Lecter. Johan is like Joker in the Dark Knight. The scariest thing about them is that they are not afraid to die at all.
this scene was better in english tho. the way she says "don't try to run he's got a big gun, and he's got an even bigger one downstairs". lol
Johan is the definition of a monster. Not something that kills for pleasure or simple hatred. But something that’s recognized the world means nothing, life means nothing, emotion means nothing beyond simple fleeting pleasures. A falsehood of the flesh as it were.
We see him as a monster, but people like Johan see themselves as men and women who have finally “woken up.”
I have finally woken up from the dream which 7 billion people are stuck in. Any word means nothing to me. I see this all as nameless. Even this i type is a noise of meaningless words. Probably what Johan has to offer
It’s very human to believe your different
@WhyjustWhy
Be careful with nihilism, you reach(ed) a point of recognition that everything is material and your existence is erased in a blink of an eye, he did kill everyone who knew him trying to erase himself, but time would've taken easy care of it, even Hitler will be forgotten at some point.
But this mindset leads to dissociation, that seems what you're experiencing, which can be extremely harmful for your mental health.
There's nothing wrong with everything being material in this ever expanding universe, it doesn't mean that your experiences aren't validated (your experience in "life",your consciousness is your reality, the only one) and you can't find comfort and happiness...hope this helps, I'm myself struggling with fear of death or ceasing to exist rn
@@Chirashin I dont really know what to say. Losing my hope in the usage of words to express makes this all very confusing. This thinking does mess up mental health. One is not able to choose between the ideas of realism and illusion, as they both are equal for them. I do believe that whichever idea you prefer, is driven by a purpose. You want to accept the materialistic world for 'living' sanely . But you may prefer the idea of illusory existence as you are driven by a hope of becoming Johan (a super intelligent being). Turns out, really no human can be Johan as our brain has been evolved for existing in this world. If you follow a nihlistic approach, the brain is highly affected and could make you a madman. This is just what i think. And you telling you are very fearful of death is probably a side effect of entering this nihlistic realm. Take care! lets not take Johan seriously anymore even tho we watch him very often :)
Yeah it's tough. There's no choice when you come around this type of conclusion. The key is what do make of this worldview, instead of thinking you woke up from the matrix, it's just one more struggle that some people like us end up going through while living the same life and same values that everyone else. I think I don't think exactly like a nihilistic anymore, because it's just about losing hope and value things as worthless because of the shock of the realization, that most times leads to depression.
I still think I will find comfort and happiness, after all, everything we experience and are is real, even if there are paradoxes and dilemmas, death and time are concepts and like them, the frustration and feelings are all reactions, they still existed. I'm not wise by any means but I would suggest you try to look at things in a minimalistic way: you will never occupy every coordinate on earth, will not see what's after your death or know everything that's happening on earth, and your best possible love match can cross you in the streets and you would've never known it, because we're not God and there's no possible such thing, thing that nihilistics that went crazy fail to accept or achieve. And it's okay, because, literally "what the eyes don't see, the heart won't feel", that's your reality. You are commenting here instead of idk, a certain video about baking bread with 100 views, because different lifetimes of consciousness have all experiences that won't overlap. So it doesn't matter if what happens next, the focus should be seeking acceptance and at least admiring what our universe came to be, truly incredible. It's not worth it falling in the hole trying to feel superior, because you are, you are the protagonist of your own and only reality.
Take care wherever you are, it's sure a very long road to happiness, but isn't it for anyone?
Roberto really banged that hag for Johan’s sake! Talk about loyalty LMFAOOO

I think you misinterpreted this line. This scene happened an episode after johan collapsed in the library, he collapsed because of fear. Johan thought that the monster was inside of him, that he was a nameless monster. He thought he was in the darkest of places. But after he uncovered his first memory of his past, he understood that the monster is not inside of him, but outside, that there is an even deeper darkness. That is the reason why he had no interest with his plan anymore. He wanted to figure out his past and this deeper darkness of his.

Sexual hormones can't overcome Johan. He is independent, can't feel love (maybe anna), can't feel attraction, a true monster. All he wanted to see was the sight of an apocalypse, similar to the one he and Anna saw at the mansion. But he did love Anna, maybe because she was the only one who showed genuine care for him before he turned into the monster. He thought that maybe his mother loved him too, but then when the time came to give away one of the twins, she had to choose one and then finally turned in Anna (either knowingly or mistakenly). That experience lured into Johan's mind, as he realized that their mother may not love them equally, or even worse:- one of them may even be unwanted. He thought deeply, and as he dove further and further he concluded that maybe his life or anna's life or everybody's life at all hold no true meaning. That was the awakening of the monster, who found pleasure in death- The ultimate state of human life. Then he heard about the mansion massacre from Anna, and excitement filled throughout him, and he lived on only for two reasons: To keep witnessing DEATH and for Anna.

Watching this in 144p hits different❌🧢
Dude is a monster
There's got be a reason for him to be called as a monster
The animators really made the chatacter art creepy, specially when the lady got traumatized
Even Johan has allies
The virgin Light Yagami and The chad Johan Liebert
The truth is that Johan died a virgin while it is implied that Light had sex with Misa and probably with other women like Takada.
@@J-o-s-h-u-aJohan’s not dead.
so johan bought a balloon and give money to the lady so they can remember what a perfect alibi
I don't recall this scene from anime in UA-cam uploads
I wonder what he'll do with that balloon
@Noscoptic GT Wow never thought of that :)
Lure some kids into a sewer propably
@@chara6568 lmaooooo XDDD
He’ll inhale the helium in the balloon to make his voice sound higher pitched when he cross dresses
@@chara6568 Lol 🤣
JOHAN>YAGAMI
Light vs Johan must watch
ua-cam.com/video/5k4k4AkngWY/v-deo.html
This comment existing, its really stupid.
@@theeye6145 sarcasm intended eh?
bruh. yagami is a realistic person. johan is very unreal, he does not show human behaviours, he just pretends. he's the devil himself.
@@bBleedingMoon yea but johan is just smart and manipulative, same with light, if there was a light vs johan it would be a draw, johan dosent have a reason to kill light, but light does have a reason to kill johan becuse he killed innocent people, those light would do anything to kill johan becuse he is a monster, johan wouldnt really care about light and he would let light kill him, prob it will end a draw.
this is Scary :o
