Ukitake's character was fucked badly in bleach which is veeery unfortunate since the guy is seriously strong (at least Shunsui's level no doubt about that) yet he never got to show his powers, he is veery smart, veeery experienced and veery wise so you'd think this guy would be invincible yet out of the blue he always gets excluded out of nice ass fights, now why would you do that for fuck's sake, also we only got to see one tiny part of his shikai, i'm pretty sure that his shikai is capable of more than just absorbing an attack and firing it back, also his zanpakuto is elemental (has to do with water and lightning), a dude that has been one of the first captains in the academy and maintained his status for so many centuries must be freakishly strong. Shout out to Ukitake one of my fav characters in bleach, the unfortunate one.
Well the thing is that jushiro himself has far spirtual pressure then most of captains of the gotei thirteen combine. Even those including kenpachi after his training with Unohana and even a post Byuakuya, Renji and Rukia. For when he died none of the captains together had enough spiritual power to up the gate to the royal palace. So yes if Jushiro didn't had his illnesses he would definitely would be able to fill in the role of captain commander.
The dude had enough spiritual pressure to allow him to live with the debilitating sickness he had, while still be able to fight Yamamoto and everything. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think it’s states or at least alluded to that if he didn’t use his reatsu to keep the sickness at bay, it would’ve killed him within a few hours or days. I think that’s pretty impressive in and of itself that his spiritual pressure alone was enough to keep him alive against a terminal illness for hundreds of years.
I would like a backstory revealed that once Captain Shinji was forced to leave the Soul Society, Jushiro became a kinda of mentor to Aizen at least to his point of view.
I pretty much just think Ukitake's sword only has defensive properties because strength-wise (reiatsu) he dwarfs all captains but he has no type of endurance. The story seems to consistently show that bankai isn't always advantageous, so Ukitake's bankai either was too taxing on his body (Issin), indiscriminate (Yama / Shunsui / Shinji), or not worth using (Soifon /Aizen). I'm thinking maybe Ukitake had an effect that was extremely specific and indiscriminate, so there was no point in him using it and when he would have he was already down. The release command of his shikai alludes to the fact that his sword is mainly reactionary, as waves and thunder are almost echoes of more powerful events. The Mimihagi is also a diety who governs stagnation and Pisces is two fish in an endless cycle. Maybe Ukitake's bankai can revert attacks in its range of influence to nothing, like how Gold Experience reduces events to zero. Only that it wouldn't help him actually win any fights because it effects everything. Kind of similar to Hisagi's bankai, but not working for physical attacks and only being taxing for Ukitake to keep up.
When did Jushiro do that? I remember the MIMIHAGE doing that (for all of 5 seconds and then getting absorbed by the main villain making him more powerful) .
@@Bleach_Hub He had to perform a ritual to make that happen and even as lame as it was it prevented the destruction of all the worlds until as you stated Yhwach decided to absorb it and become the new Soul King.

The problem is bleach characters are all so good so I don't fully blame kubo cus it's really hard to balance so many great characters especially in that time it's sad
3:15 there’s also the fact that Yamamoto might actually have been suspicious of the whole circumstances surrounding Rukia and might’ve been trying to draw out the actor behind it.
Just a thought, what if his bankai is absorption where instead of the attacks being redirected its added to his own power, BUT, due to his illness he cant really use that well because his body cant handle the power due to his body always fighting the illness.
Why didn't jushiro kun show his banKai and is it true that he became the new soul King or something on the lines about being the next host for the Soul King
Ukitake would still probably be weaker than Shunshui, but I think it's said Ukitake had like abnormally high reiatsu (I still don't think it's higher than Bankai Shunshui though)
I mean he was supposedly better at kido than Shun, more diligent in training than Shun. Also higher reiatsu roughly translates to your overall strength so yeah
It was because he was stabbed in the liver the area where his disease stems from obvious he’s gonna knocked out and we don’t even know how wonderweisis fight with kensei actually went down he went bankai and lost wonderweisis didn’t even transform
He'll always be the kindest captain, but yeah Jushiro kinda got the shaft that hopefully *might* be remedied in the anime if Kubo wants to actually do something with him. *You gonna scale Regular Show soon my guy?*

Lol being able to redirect your opponent’s attack is kinda op if you ask me... look at Meliodas’ full counter.
Yep its really op absorb an attack make it stronger and faster then hit then with it thats strong
