We should not apologize for the mistake he made. What I hate the most about Mr. Bendis is that he says that Clark lost all those years to watch the boy grow up, but he forgets that we fans wanted to see him grow up too.
@the secret laboratory you're not alone. Funny, ancient pharaohs looked forward to the end of the world. Hoping the cadavers would rise, and reclaim hearts from golden jars. Must currently be holding breath in anticipation.
Bitch Planet was originally going to be a 30 issue series. It stopped at 10 because of low sales. Apparently, Kelly Sue De Connick got her wish and people stopped buying her book.
Shame that Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason's run on Superman ended to make way for Brian Michael Bendis to take over. Their stories of Superman and Lois raising Johnathan were delightful.
yep i know for a fact that pat gleason is a great guy and loved drawing that book. i dont want to speak for him but i know it disappointed him on every level.
You guys are wrong about Kelly Sue DeConnick Regretting saying that, she changed her profile picture to that very picture from that video just a few months ago at least for a few days. And a week before they canceled Aquaman she tweeted out that picture along side a picture of Gail Simone with the quote “don’t buy my book”. So she stands by her terrible sales.
Wes. Tremendous work you have done creating this video. This is an evergreen episode that everyone can refer to 10 years from now to show the mindset of creators for this period. Thank you!
I think "he's the hero, and he wins" is a really solid description of the appeal of Batman. But I think modern writers can't stand the idea of heroism, and they have to deconstruct everything so he's NOT really a hero, or he DOESN'T win, or he's actually the villain, or he's actually bad and the girl version is the real hero, or the like. I think classic heroic stories endure for many reasons, but having a heroic figure with a good moral code who takes out bad guys and wins is a big one.
The whole “blame the fans/audience” thing is not new, but it continues to be mindboggling. Imagine the gargantuan ego it must require to: 1. Produce a product the audience doesn’t like. 2. Blame the audience for not liking your product. Insane.
Started writing quite a few comments but you and Mr Perch addressed it first! Nice to know I can follow the same train of thought as you two esteemed gents! Fun vid Wes!
Kelly Sue was quite rude to John on Word Balloon and it really turned me off. Some might call it passionate, but it seemed more unhinged and just plain rude to me. Although he handled it fine.
I feel exaclty the same way. I dont agree with what Marvel / D.C. say now in there comics & outside of it. Been a collector for 46 years and put my money where my mouth is to hurt them. Maybe if everyone did the same they might change there attitude. There are enough back issues to buy to keep me busy for ages. I used to be such a proud advocate of of comics but im embarrassed for them now. Even to the point where im glad Stan Lee, Jack Kirby are not around to see what they did to their creations. Us old school hardcore fans need to realize that the comic industry is not what we are used to & love :(
I agree with Ms DeConnic when it comes to Twitter but not when she is playing in an established universe with a longtime paying fandom who is suddenly assaulted with her politics in THEIR space.
Here’s the ENTIRE problem: Hiring Managers. Any manager worth his or her salt would have fired that last woman there in a SECOND. Can you imagine? In a world where we are so intensely divided, can you imagine continuing to employ someone who just, in front of god and country, told half your potential customers to take a hike???? Prolly more than half, actually, considering the average age and gender of the comic consuming universe, and which way that demographic tends to vote. In a sane world, where managers have a spine, that person would have been fired immediately or, at very least, called into a meeting where the very first question would have been an angry “what the hell are you doing”???
You and Perch should really make lists of "5 Things of One Kind and 5 Things of a Contrasting Kind." Like "5 Things US Comics Could Learn from Manga... and 5 Things It Shouldn't" or "5 Benefits of OGNs... and 5 Benefits of Monthly Floppies" or "5 Comics that Sacrificed Continuity for Story... and 5 that Sacrificed Story for Continuity" or "5 Comic Problems that are Worse at Marvel... and 5 that are Worse at DC."
@Comics By the Numbers No, for this channel, its mainly because Wes is more of a DC guy, so he tends to get more annoyed at DC than Marvel. Like when someone like Dok is speaking with him, he talks a lot more about Jason Aaron, Mark Waid, and the idiots at Marvel.
As a fan, Bendis owes me an apology for what he did to Jonathan Kent....Holding my breath!!
We should not apologize for the mistake he made.
What I hate the most about Mr. Bendis is that he says that Clark lost all those years to watch the boy grow up, but he forgets that we fans wanted to see him grow up too.
If he wants an apology from me, he can kiss my ass.

“Don’t buy my book. 😏”
“You got it!”
“Why is no one buying my book!?”

"He's a superhero and he wins."
Great, Tom, you like Batman for the exact same reasons as my 10 year old did 5 years ago.

As someone who feels that flaws, tragedy and tragic backstories in superhero stories are overrated, even I cringed when I heard Tom’s answer.
Dan revealed the great truth... the movie's twist.
I am actually just a pixel on a screen that stopped buying his crap...

Geez... It’s almost as if some guy in his car with long winded tangents warned the industry of this.
ugh. Disgusting.

Sad that some of these people at one point did good comics, but now they went off the deep end.
I don’t follow any of these people. I’m happy I don’t. Also it seems they write horribly so I’m glad I’m not buying their work either.

Wes you crack me up! "El Percharino"!
I'm sorry Bendis....
Psych! 😂😂😂😂

I don't know what to think about DCs glut of layoffs, but I'm still glad Didio is gone.

Slott knows we are all in a Matrix like simulation. We are all pixels.
It's 2023 and the cracks shown in this video are all deep, wide, craters.
The hubris, oh, the hubris!
Kelly cancer... congrats on killing Aquaman.
Read this as "5 Terrible Comic Book Hut takes", left disappointed
They need to bring Venditti or Williamson on supes and fix him
When you don't understand the super hero just say that they are a good hero and they win. Works every time LOL
'These aren't real people they don't have real money!"---LMAO!
Will you guys make the follow up? "5 Terrible Comic Book Hot Takes From the another side"
Bendis needs to go back to Marvel.
It would be more fun if they were no longer around...
You mean bad opinions
Why u people always strikes in DC comics
