For those that may be looking for it (and I might have missed them saying the name of it), the documentary is called "The Work". There's also another great documentary called "The Wisdom of Trauma" based around Dr. Gabor Mate's work that includes a highlight of a similar program (that I just found out that Eldra is a Compassion Ambassador for) called Compassion Prison Project.

I felt this conversation on a deeper level. He is a truly reformed man and you can really feel how soul centred he is.
This is a great example of how we all have goodness within us nomatter what we have done. For real we are not our past neither should we be defined by our flaws as we are here to learn and evolve and our experiences play that role of directing us towards becoming our best selves.

Seeing prison as trauma centres for those who need it the most was such a beautiful and better way of seeing and working towards making prions a place that facilitates exactly that. Such an educational and so desperately needed conversation

A great follow up to this would be to look at existing successful models of prison systems, particularly the radical example of Norway, and the incredible example that offers for redemption, healing, and truly treating prisoners with respect and dignity. Thanks for your work, great guest!

That's a great idea. We will remain focused on individual(s) and their journeys in each episode, so perhaps we will find a guest from outside of the US that will help us explore those other models. Thank you.

Not sure you will read this, as it is a year later.
Regarding interviews with DOC (department of corrections)-I recently learned that Washington State DOC toured some facilities in Norway. Christopher Poulos is a possible someone who you could connect with to learn more.
Thank you all for your ‘work’, Eldra is a special human with a special calling. May he and your work bless all who choose to hear. ❤️

Such an eye opening way to look at prison; as trauma centres. And it's true, isolation does more damage than good. It should be about healing like Justin said.

As always, thank you so much for your work. Maybe some episodes will impact less than others for whatever reason, but i really appreciate your work, it inspires me in a deep way. Thank you man enought team!
PD: I dont know why because im deaf/hard of hearing but, i really like listening justin say "This is man enough podcast". Maybe its because the tone of his voice? I like when he say 'podcast', its so cool. I dont know, this is weird, but i just want to share it, sorry. Dont block me, please! Hahahahaha

That's what I'm talking about!!! What a gorgeous gorgeous humble man!!! I noticed I kept sighing alot during this conversation, my Soul was deeply satisfied, what a world it would be to live in if all men were like him. How safe all women would feel. Thank you for your wonderful choices of guests, I'm learning about new people. I will go look him up, I want to find out how his re-entry was into the world, when it was, if he had PTSD. I'm sure he is grateful everyday that it took prison to get his life on track, God had huge plans for him in this world. I have followed Damien Echols for years and years, he was on death row for 18 years for a crime he didnt commit, and he found himself in the process of having to survive prison. Such huge transformations.

In one of the episodes, Liz had mentioned it would be great to have a sort of recovery program for toxic masculinity. And since I can't remember where that was, I thought I'd share a discovery I made here, since it started with Eldra's episode.
A good bit of the structure and group work that we see in "The Work" stemmed from an original program that is indeed a recovery program for toxic masculinity and it's called The ManKind Project.
There are a number of paid programs they have but the very cool part is that there are a couple of virtual meetings a week that are very much doing the deep Men's Work that Eldra discusses here.
I just started attending a couple of weeks ago and I can not recommend it enough for men who discuss the Man Box-type issues that this show discusses so openly.
Hope this info helps someone else out there!

Thanks, Ron. So happy you're having a positive experience with ManKind. There are a number of different approaches to this desire to connect amongst men and we will be helping to provide more resources and guidance in 2022 for our community to find them. Appreciate you sharing this so that people can learn from your experiences. Please keep us posted on how it goes as you spend more time in it.

Mr . Jackson is doing human work not prison work
Human work is about rehabilitation and spiritual healing. One man or woman at a time . The circle group of people who are looking for healing first . Then opportunities for employment . Then afterwards successful Men and Women helped others from a caring and compassionate place.
