The modification work you did was well thought out and well done. It was also good to know that (once the issue had been pointed out) you made corrections for the loss of the "extremely low quality" factory foam flotation.
I also have an Aruba 10 and find that it suits my needs well. A couple of very simple but useful mods are a paddle leash from paracord that I clip to the seat back d ring with a carabiner and 2 pieces 4" long of cut pool noodle pushed all of the way down on the paddle. This keeps your paddle floating if dropped and keeps the water from rushing along the shaft and going right straight to your armpits.
I've had this kayak for 2 years now and it is a great little kayak. Leave the foam blocks in. I did the storage compartment mod and then I used expansion foam to lock the blocks in place and it also added more floatation in the center of the kayak. Also opens up the back for some lightweight storage. Enjoy your kayak.
Tractor Supply sells the Trek 10 orange color which is basically the Aruba 10 with a padded seat. On sale now for $179.00. Been researching Kayak ‘s to buy for my lake house. Looking at the Pelican Trailblazer and Lifetime Zenith. Think I am sold on the Sundolphin especially for the price and all the great reviews.
By cutting into it, it removes the air, so it will sink about halfway down when filled with water in it. With no foam in the back, you will send it straight to the bottom if you fill it with water.
so i get its your first kayak so maybe you didnt know, but it already had a water bottle holder, its the slot with the bungee in front of the cockpit under the new bungee you put on. and if you still have the foam i'd stick it back in, its so your kayak wont completely sink if you swamp it. i have a red one just like it before sun dolphin bought the company that used to be water quest and have 3 green ones exactly like that one... my older red one actually has a removable bowl on the back hatch that you can simply lift up to store stuff in the back and then replace the removable bowl which i usually fill with ice and beer
jagster thurman I actually put the extra water bottle cause I'm in the water for long periods of time. the front of the kayak gets all the sun heat so the side works out just a little better . I didn't put the foam back in case I use something else. I do thank you for all the information and for watching the video . have fun and stay safe
That is the perfect seat for the Aruba. I looked on ebay and could not see it. What brand is it. What was the description on the item so I can find it on their site. Did it come with the snap-ins. Thanks, this was a great video.
This is way beyond the call of duty. I really appreciate all your extra effort. It's just that the seat fits so beautiful, like original equipment. Take your time, if you can't find anything that's ok too. Again, thanks for all your time.
@@pvalentin214 can you please explain how you added floats inside? We threw away our Styrofoam thinking it was packing material for the shipping, and now ours are WAYYY too tippy. I feel like an idiot! Thanks for your video. It's great!
I also cut the tub out of my cousins aruba. Added rod holders...trolley anchor system and extra webbing up front. I added a dashboard /bait board to it. Instead of that water bottle holder(which it already has)...you might want to keep your piss jug in there. Paddle on!!
to add to that make almost a full bulk head in the very front of the hull that doesn't bother your feet or leg reach, place pool noodles in it as well... you can use those rivets and marine sealant to keep the bulk head there. same with the rear those will keep it from sinking to the bottom, if the unmentionable happens
Better not flip it, or its a gonner. That styrofoam is there to keep it from sinkink and help buoyancy Dumb idea to removed the sealed rear air pocket...you will see when the first motorboat passes and the waves capsize you
It’s not a sealed air pocket. Water can flow freely from the cockpit to the rear anyway. He should have reattached the styrofoam in the rear though somehow though.
Nathan Wilson I did say on the video that most of the things I did were not my ideas . I did e few things of my own that I felt that it worked for me . I never lie and didn't try to take all the credit . thanks for watching

Thanks for your quick reply.

Spray some foam in the back so it doesn't sink
I did . A friend told me about it . Thanks for sharing the information
Beach balls or inner tubes
Great idea removing the floatation. Duh
😄great job.
You made it so it will sink All the way to the bottom.
👍🏻great job.
New at kayaks huh ?
Yes I was new at it . Now i have made some improvement to it so it won't sink . I added floats on the inside top . Thanks for watching

Search...SICK FUCK YAKKER. Tell me what u think. Might give u some ideas brother
For sure I'll look for it
Do you have a link for the seat cushion?
No sorry . That was a long time ago
👍
after u cut it out for storage. why not rig a pool noodle up inside to keep it a float
Samuel Robinson I like that idea . I'm going to try it out

Leave some floating device in it so if you tip over it can sink
