In New Mexico, there is no minimum spend for tax credit eligibility, indies can receive 25-35% of their spend back. Filmmakers can use the funds to cover post or marking and distribution cost.

I’m in grad school and I work full time for an insurance company. Therefore, I’m qualified for a $5000 tuition reimbursement. I’m thinking about taking advantage of it to shoot one of the most important scenes for my full feature film to use as a pitch, but the rule is if I do use this benefit, I have to commit to another year with the company. Is it worth it?
@@JHorton but it’s only to produce basically a short film, however it will be used to pitch in order to get more funding to film a full feature. This scene can easily be done on a college campus. My most costs is hiring two semi big actors from Orlando, FL and St Louis, MO to fly to South Carolina to shoot this short. It’s worth shooting but to commit to another year with my company is tough…lol decisions, decisions, decisions…
