Great content I made 5 figures in 42 days the 3rd quarter with my movie on Tubi IGNITE YOUR LOVE…. My movie got uploaded halfway in the quarter and I made this without marketing so now I’m about to put a campaign behind it and hopefully will get more great info
If you don't mind me asking, I got 2 questions to ask: 1) Does tubi say how much views your movie gets? 2) I know it varies on advertisers and all, but any idea how much roughly your movie makes? Is it based on per 1000 views or how many hours is watched? I ask because I want to get a good idea how much tubi pays in comparison to this site. I'm planning to watch things over at tubi if there's a movie available both here and there, but just like to know how much I'm helping indie filmmakers by watching over at tubi since I know this site pays very little.
congrats on the movie buddy... ..... congratulations... .... I speak from Brazil How much have you already earned with the film on the tube... throughout life?
As always, you deliver a video on the EXACT topic I’m thinking of asking a question about! Thank you for all the hard work and consistency - this channel has been my Bible for the past year on film business education. Much love!
This was so good. Jason instinctively understands where filmmakers get confused with AVOD and makes sure to explain in a conversational way. Looking forward to future marketing videos from him as the market changes.
I skipped a commercial featuring Mr. Beast pitching Shopify at the beginning of this video...I wonder if he thought content creation would pay more too? 😂Good stuff Jason!
@@JHorton i just wish film hub had a marketing section where you could make a deal for them to market there film so us film makers who have no money could get our film out
as I said in the video. It's AVOD based. Average CPMs are 6 to 9 dollars. Unless you get an exclusive deal payout (which isn't likely for most). I have over 50 films I've produced there.
I keep yall updated we are turning one of my books into a movie the name of the book is Cocaine Republic by Ivan Romance I keep yall updated doing the process and how much money I make as well to the very detail.
Just curious what the current minimum runtime requirement for an episode and for a feature? I was told 20 and 45 minutes. Just want to confirm.Thank you!
Thanks man! Do you know the minimum minute requirement for a feature film on Tubi? I thought it was 120 but just recently saw a film that was 71 minutes.
Subscribed my question is on promotion or building that curve~where is a good platform to promote , you talked about rather than one big push to spread it out, where would that be
because when dealing with AVOD there isn't a definitive answer. That's the answer. as I said in the video the numbers and cpms differ film to film. Fine. Illl pick five random films from my library last month and what they made on TUBI. one made 11,763 grand last month. one made 20 dollars. One made 2212 dollars. one made 200 dollars. One made 976 dollars. The cpms varied from 6 to 9 dollars. The CPM on the 11k one was 8.89. So that's basically 9 bucks for every 1000 ads viewed. If the movie played 3 ads a play. that's 27 bucks per 1000 viewings... Problem with that is not everyone sees the same amount of ads. Algoythm dictates. Sometime you might get 4 or 5 ad breaks. Sometimes you get less. Sometimes no ads play. TUBI pays much like youtube adsense. And there are ton of other videos out there that breakdown things like CPM and RPM. It's a compicated and nuanced topic. There is no simple. They pay this much answer.
but you didn’t answer the question??? how much does tubi pay? can you give a monetary example in both the best and worse case scenarios using real dollar amounts and not just theoretical examples please?
i was very clear. It's AVOD based. THey pay based on CPM. the cpm's average between 7 and 9 dollars which breaks down to 7 to 9 dollars per 1000 ads viewed. (though there are films that get higher and lower CPMS. Depends on the movie. There's 100s of videos here on youtube that explain CPM if you want to dig in. If hardly no one watches your movie you could make a few cents. But, I know filmmakers that have made 100k in a month there as well. Just depends on the movie. There is no set rate.
@@JHorton thx for the update. I can't seem to find any videos helping re above specifically for films (not youtuber type videos). Or do you know, Mr Horton if film makers have ever done a deal witg youtube to premiere on UA-cam etc..?? Thx
The title is referring to rates, which I definiitely did cover in the the video,... but to answer your specific question, over the last few years. a few hundred thousand dollars.
@@JHorton thank you!!! I keep hearing that the logical maximum is around $150K for one project. I’m releasing a 2-hour action SciFi movie shot in 4K in a few months. My first action movie was internationally distributed by a typical predatory distributor and I did t make a dime, even though it was sublicenaed to 20+ territories and was with both Netflix and Blockbuster on the DVD mail rental program back in 2010. Nada for me. Very painful experience!!! I can’t have the same experience from these psychopathic distributors and lean heavily on people like yourself for honest information. you're not 100 percent wrong, there is not way to really know. And I would love to see a youtube like dashboard. But even then, how do you really know that is accurate? But at the end of the day I don't see as sketchy... all paranoid thinking will do is keep you from taking risks and rob you of opportunities. How do you know your youtube CPM is really accurate? How do you know the retail outlet making dvds didn't sell more than they say? in today's age, I don't think there is a way to know for sure someone somewhere isn't ripping you off. If you're lucky enough to get a 100 screen theatrical release, how do you know ticket sales are accuruate or concession sales? The only way to be 100 percent sure no one is ripping you off on your movie is to make one copy, and sell tickets one by one yourself to private showings in your basement. If you're gonna release your movie to the world, at some point you have to take someone's word for it. I look at reputation and results (what ends up in my pocket) All I can say for sure, is at the end of the day, more indie filmmakers are seeing more money from feature films through tubi than any other outlet.
then you were not paying attention. It's not a simple answer. numbers are all over the place. Some make 100k a month. Some make pennies. Most I've personally made in a month off a single movie is 10k. I've seen other do 10x's that. and most do much less.

it differs for different movies, just like youtube. I've heard from a distributor that the averages are between 7 and 9 dollars.

Does tubi require your film to be exclusive on their platform. Can I have a film on tubi and UA-cam at the same time???
Great video by the way.
in general no. The only way the deal is exclusive is if they want your film as a TUBI original which is unlikely anyway.
Great video. Can I ask, is it better just uploading to UA-cam if you have a monetized channel? Millions more use it over Tubi.
absolutely zero reason not to do both. Neither is exclusive. Unless you have a specfic deal with Tubi which is rare.
