- Flying the Bell 47 G2 in southern California from Camarillo (KCMA) to filming site of MASH tv show from 70's. Fun flight, not for instructional purposes.

Thanks to Flyinside for developing the Bell 47. Update came out just after I finished video. I had the music cue wrong 25:39 works.

I fly this heli fine on realistic setting without changing anything, taken me 6 days but now I can land it on the spot I want sometimes... nicely! :D Love this thing and its going to be even better with soem time! :)

You set that chopper down just to the west of the OR building! I've hiked out there a lot.

Mash 4077 used earlier model Bell 47 with flat single fuel tank wooden laminated blades and a lower horse power Franklin

I tried this Bell 47 for the first time today. I have some 250 hours in real helis, and I always dreamed to own a 47, so I was very excited about this sim, but I got very disappointed. I've flown R22s, 44s, Jet Rangers, A-Star and even a MD 500 once, and NONE of them made me sweat when flying straight and level. Hovering is a challenge, of course, but straight and level is so easy that I could do it in my first fly. This Bell 47 is a beast, and she was supposed to be a tame machine, very much like the Ranger, so I found the sim version very unrealistic and frustrating. Of course you learnt how to fly it with confidence, and I presume I will get the feel with practice. Maybe I'm wrong abou it, so I'd like to listen from any pilot that had some experience with the real thing.
Thank you for your comments. Always great to hear from RW pilots. I have PPL in a 172 and have flown R22 for about 30 minutes. Agree that it is easier in the real world with that seat of your pants feel. Had I much easier time hovering a R22 the first time flying than I do this. One tip, maybe try it on medium settings. Sounds like that may give a little more real feel. The flight model is fully adjustable in the heli manager.
Also, would be great if someone was interested in bringing the Jet Ranger back to the sim.

I tried again this evening, and did a little better. Could fly around Universal Studios and the Griffth Observatory, but my landings were shameful :-) Anyway, the feeling of being there (in VR) is delightful, and I don't mind at all to keep trying. :-D
I walked around the filming area once, there are a couple things left.
The easiest way to do these things is to right click on google maps and copy the coordinates and import them into flight sim as the destination. That way you can have the landing pad as your target in the sim.

Not really a mash skin exactly. Part of the Paints that come with the Bell 47.
Thats awesome! It’s a perfect mixture of my childhood and my flight sim hobby! What other locations do you know? Fantasy Island? Gilligan’s Island?
