    Thank you for the video. I used it to replace my pump, which in Manhattan is a 700$ repair. So just 200$ for the pump and a bit of work was a no brainer.
    My Dishwasher is a fully integrated panel ready model and actually it was not necessary to remove the front panel at all, to have access at the bottom housing. So for those who have a fully integrated panel ready model, do no waste time with the front panel.
    Also mine is a model produced around 2006 and it had a Pex clamp on one of the hoses which required a strong snip tool ( for steel studs) to cut it off, and then I had replaced it with a regular screw one.

    Super helpful! My circulation pump impeller came apart and the dishwasher would not wash. It would fill and pump out, the capacitor would get warm and there was a very quiet hum, but not much else happened. The circulation pump would turn in one direction but then would lock up after a couple of turns in the opposite direction. New impeller and seal kit and away it went! It was installed in 2002 and this is its first hiccup. Not bad for a family that runs the dishwasher 3-4 times a week! Way to go Bosch! Thank you for the great video.

    Awesome video. Very well created and I was able to follow it step for step. Thanks for not just saying reverse the process to reassemble! Once again I was able to continue to keep the Bosch dishwasher running. I highly recommend repairing versus replacing.

      Tripp, newer appliances tend to have shorter lifespans due to built in obsolescence/profit margin. Also when we fix an older appliance and keep it running, we are helping the environment by keeping this stuff out of land fill.

    • @sebastiantevel898

      @@rutheaston8253 True.
      Yet it has more to do with the appliances being more energy and noise efficient, therefore they need to use lighter materials.
      Anyway these dishwasher once you replace the pumps every 10/12 years, can go on another 12. Not bad at all.

    I just replaced the pump in my Bosch dishwasher using this video. It is great! The instructions were simple and straightforward; I didn't have but one problem. The door pulleys were troublesome because I pulled the frame to far and they came out of their mounts. Otherwise, this was a few hours on a Saturday to save a bunch of bucks. My advise is have lots of towels, sponges and buckets ready because there is water that comes out of the washer from every place possible.

    I do appreciate the video. My dishwasher is a Kenmore Elite 630.16309404. From the symptoms, I was pretty sure the circulation pump had gone bad. The system would add water and heat it, but there was no circulation of the water whatsoever. Apparently the Kenmore is somewhat different. It has a metal sleeve on each side that most be removed before you can disconnect the pulley's on each side. I could not find a video that shows that, but I figured it out. You have to remove two screws on each side at the front of the washer to be able to remove those sleeves. Almost everything else is the same with the exception of no clamp on one end of the pump itself.
    Anyway, I was able to put the new pump in, but it still doesn't work. The difference now is that I can hear that the pump is trying to work. I think the old pump must of burned out because maybe there's an obstruction somewhere. Since the pump is not pushing water as it should, I'm not trying to run it so as not to burn out the new pump. I checked inside the washer and the impeller moves freely. I placed an air pump on the end where the lower wash arm is removed and blew air threw. It blew water out of the opposite end, so that's free. Today, I plan to go back in and remove the complete sump assembly to examine every possible entry/exit; that is unless there's a better way to go about troubleshooting. If there's is something, I'd appreciate the advice.
    Thanks.

    this pump is almost half cost of a new unit. I resigned to throw my unit away, and then I decided to try and see if the pump was salvageable. low and behold, I see that the pump impeller has wear parts on it that decoupled it from the motor rotor. some gorilla glue and few swears and it was back together. worked like charm. this pump is a good example of a well engineered failure mode.

    Typically the wires that supply power to the motor are black and white or white with a tracer, meaning a colored stripe, on it. It is best to find the wiring diagram of the unit. The wiring diagram is usually behind the lower control panel rolled up and tucked in the base assembly.

    Useful Video . ..... I found it as mine refused to finish its cycle .. Followed the initial extraction in video & Turned out a water leak had flooded the tray & there is a float on the left side which drives a red cut out rod .. The leak came down to the salt container that come loose with the big "nut/ring" that bolts it to the bottom of the tub ( under the screw cap) .. ... Other faults we have had .. Blocked filling pipe , the one under the front panel. & No Heat.... which was a burnt out relay in the controller board in the door. ... Hope this comment helps some one some day.... Otherwise Bosch seems fine ...Daily run for 20 years & counting...

    Q: I get water going in the basin but there is no pressure to it. Is the circulation pump the one and only thing that can be bad?
    Is there maybe a relay or coil that could be faulty (the water inlet coil/valve works fine)

  • @richardbirks
    @richardbirks 9 років тому

    Fantastic instructional video. Certainly saved me a huge amount of pain when it came to disassembly of my Siemens dishwasher.
    In the UK the "circulation pump" seems to come as three parts. The motor, the pump and housing, and the capacitor. I've just gone to all the trouble of replacing the motor element and the dishwasher worked for all of 15 minutes before stopping again with exactly the same symptoms.
    My question is: is the capacitor used to accumulate enough energy to "bump start" the motor from stand-by. Is it possible I need to replace that as well?

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  9 років тому

      Richard Birks The capacitor cold be for run or start and newer models often use a run capacitor in the motor circuit to reduce power consumption.

    • @siaagsga7135
      @siaagsga7135 6 років тому

      Capacitor is just to start . If its not starting itself then the problem with the capacitor. To make sure if you can get a way in to motor area try to turn the motor bye hand (when the brain of the machine send to signall to run) it may run. If it runs then you need to replace capasitor to solve the problem.

    I am having a pump issue (I think) on a Bosch SHX5AL05UC/06. Dish washer starts with a loud humming, then stops 10 seconds in. Then starts another of those loud humming cycles only to stop directly after with a beeping signaling 'clean'. I read somewhere to open the washer door during that second humming and sure enough it works every time I do that. But I want to fix this to work correctly. How can I be sure this is a circulation pump issue (like I've seen in forums)

    I have removed all the pieces from inside the dishwasher, and removed all debris
    When I run the dishwasher and open the door quickly, the water semms to be pumping very weakly.
    It only shoots up from the outlet of the sump about 4 inches
    Is there any better way to tell if the pump is weak or what cold be the cause>

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  10 років тому

      There could be a problem with the circulation pump, but there also could be something clogging the dishwasher elsewhere. Check all the hoses and wash arms for clogs and also check the water pressure to the dishwasher.

      +jitenanita If the control does not cycle the dishwasher through the drain, fill, and wash cycles properly than the control is likely defective. Without a model number we are unable to tell you what type of control you have.

      +Joyce Bentley It's possible that your dishwasher's drain hose is clogged. We recommend checking the drain hose first.

    I have tried everything to fix the smell coming from my Bosch yes everything! so if the smell is the pump not working which pump do you believe it would be the circulation pump or the draining pump, it only happens when I first start it but it awful and it smells as if someone farted in the entire house!

      @repairclinic  10 років тому

      The circulation pump is most likely not your problem. If the pump was bad the dishes would not be getting clean. If all the water is not getting out at the end of the cycle that water will sit in the bottom and start smelling. There should only be about an inch of water in the bottom of the sump at the end of the cycle. If the unit is not draining properly look for a kinked hose or a restriction in the drain pump or hose. If the unit drains ok try using powdered soap. If the dishes sit in the dishwasher for a few days and are not rinsed off well that will also cause an odor at the beginning of the cycle. Using a dishwasher cleaner like glisten once a month or so will help keep the dishwasher components clean and help prevent bacteria buildups.

      ***** Have fixed the tubing so that is not it, and even if I wash the very next day, there is no smell in the washer it only happens when I turn it on and the smell radiating from the sink is awful and it only happens when I start that Bosch, it also leave the film on my dishes, I took pictures of it and it can be smeared like wax. I use Cascade complete in it the little pockets you put in the door and I use the spot remover, evne the light in the spot remover has stopped working and it is only 5 yrs old. to expensive to keep this thing going. too expensive to buy one new. I have to wash the plastic plates and plastic sontainers and all aluminum otr stainless by hand after putting in the DW, ridiculous! I have pictures but I do not know how to put them on here.

    How can I tell if the circulation pump is the problem with my dishwasher. Repair man thinks so. It's a big repair job/cost. The problem is that after the dishwasher tab dispenser opens, the dishwasher tab no longer dissolves. Have run the dishwasher on all settings with and without dishes. Dishwasher is only 13 months old. Bosch model : shx4at55uc/14

      First, make sure you have enough water. You should have approximately an inch of water above the screen for the pump to work properly. If the pump is not running, you can pull out the screen and use either a 7 or 8 mm socket or nut driver to see if the impeller will turn. The access will be through the hole on the right side in the sump. If the impeller does not turn, you can keep trying to turn it until it breaks free the seal may be stuck. If you cannot break it free, you may need a new pump. If it turns free, the impeller may have seeds in it and not pumping or it may not be getting power. If you hear a slight humming noise in the wash cycle, but the water is not spraying the motor is most likely stuck
